we booked a flight to Costa Rica. Everything went perfectly smooth however, on the way back, the airline was grounded due to a mechanical error, which affected 170 airplanes, we were able to get flights on a competing airline, we submitted all of our hotel records, and bills to Alaska. They contacted us back within five days and wired the money to our bank account for reimbursement immediately, very professional, and very responsive I would definitely fly with them again.

After the "extra fresh air" window seat incident earlier this month, I was among those caught in the fallout of canceled flights. I watched my incoming flight (not on one of the planes involved in the grounding) land at SFO and figured it was safe to go to bed. Instead, after 9 p.m. I was notified that my flight was canceled and I was rebooked from a direct SFO-JFK flight to a flight 16 hours later to Seattle. Then, I would have overnighted in Seattle and taken a red-eye the following night from Seattle to JFK. They did this without contacting me until after 9 p.m. the night before a scheduled 7 a.m. flight. I sat up all night to get a rep on the line and put me on a SFO-Newark flight at 6 a.m. because the computers wouldn't let me change my end desitination. Okay, fine, it was an emergency and they were short staffed. Fine. Fine. It worked out, I got there, and everyone I dealt with was prefectly pleasant and reasonable, particularly given what they were dealing with.
Fast forward to today - some three plus weeks later: I get an email offering me 40 percent off my next flight as a "we're sorry" ... but I have to book said flight in the next 48 hours AND have to travel within 5 weeks. I'm sorry, but, like, most people have jobs or families and cannot drop everything. It's such a transparently sad offer to make it right and show that corporate greed reigns and that those running the show are either just amoral greedy monsters or deeply out of touch with the rest of us (maybe both?). The whole thing is laughable and just ... sad? Pathetic? Kinda gross?
ETA: my complaint to customer services has gotten corporate-ese response of "we're sorry you're disappointed with our promotional offer. LOL. They want us to like them again, but don't want it to cost them anything when they're making SO MUCH money.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 2 - Alex R.Northridge, Vereinigte Staaten84121. Nov. 2023
We were originally booked to fly out on 11/02 for a vacation in Cabo. The weekend prior to our trip, Alaska Airlines sent us a solicitation email asking if we wanted to fly out on an early flight which we accepted. On 11/01 we went to check in online & we were shocked to find out that they booked us on a flight the following day. This was clearly a very misleading email to get people to give up their seats on an overbooked flight. We spent 90 very frustrating minutes on the phone with Alaska Airlines in which they offered to put us back on our original flight for $2,400. When we declined, their only other response is we should've read the small legalize print in the email. Not only are we losing a day of vacation but we spent $600 per night on a hotel room we won't be using.
Alaska Airlines has made the short list along with Spirit of airlines that we will never fly on. Way to stay classy & customer oriented Alaska Airlines!!!'Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 2 - Anne M.San Diego, Vereinigte Staaten1241215. Apr. 2024
Can't get one, just one receipt for luggage, from them. I requested it over the counter, online and calling and being on the phone for hours and nothing. They charge so much for tickets, check-in luggage, crammed us on planes, and yet they cannot produce one receipt. The check-in bag counter does not give you an option to print a receipt. Why would anyone want to fly in this airline? Pics are just to show how many times, I have tried to communicate with them and nothing has been done.

The counter and the kiosk here in Orlando says they start checkin at 12:25 pm. iIt's 1:15 and no one is here from Alaska, though there are a lot of angry people in line and tired kids crying. I called Alaska and they told me I should have looked at the website no matter what is posted at the counter. I am so disappointed in their service, lack of transparency, and honesty. Please do better.

I was refused to board the plane during final call. I was told it was too late. Another woman was also refused access to the plane. She arrived about 5 minutes later, the steward said he would try to get her on and told me to get lost... what the heck? He wanted me to go back to customer service where I came from whom couldn't locate another flight. They don't work with other airlines as I was told. The plane then sat there for 20 minutes.
Then I had to go to another airport to catch a differ plane adding 12 hours to my flight. (I was so tired and wanted badly to lie down)
During one of the 4 hour flights I requested the empty exit row from the stewardess who quickly replied "all passengers must stay in their assigned seats for the duration of the flight". However she allowed a man to take the row. Is this not discrimination?Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Lydia L.Allen, Vereinigte Staaten215253. Aug. 2023
Kudos to Alaska Airlines on first class flight from San Francisco to Dallas. Excellent service from the onboarding, access to entertainment, food, beverages, pilot & friendly flight attendant's customer service. I will definitely be flying Alaska in the future!

I've been flying Alaska SFO-Dallas Love since you bought Virgin. Pre-pandemic I was flying about 5 times/year and am now flying 2-3 times/year. Over the past 3 years I've been flying first class. So I have the experience to say definitively that service at Alaska has fallen off - to the extent that I am looking at alternatives to Alaska and Love Field. Specifically:
Food on Alaska has really taken a dive. This year I've had two chicken dishes, both of which were very, very dry with mediocre sauces. The cheese plate my traveling partner got a few weeks ago was ordinary, at best. Sometimes the roasted nuts are okay; sometimes they're old. A few years ago you had some interesting and tasty sandwiches. No more apparently.
Service on board is usually cursory. The recent flight SFO-DAL on 10/10 was better, but service is generally undistinguished and certainly was so again on 10/19.
The lounge at SFO is nice but now, even when I spend $2600 for two tickets, you want to charge me $30/person to use the lounge!
I am disappointed. I don't imagine this letter will accomplish anything, but here it is.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 2 - Angie M.Union City, Vereinigte Staaten0527. Feb. 2024
I flew first class for the 1 and probably only time in my life to Puerto Vallarta and back to San Francisco. Anthony was the most amazing Steward ever! He was so attentive and friendly...he's a 12 out of 10! I was delighted to see him on our return flight! He wasn't serving us this flight and there was a new lady (don't remember her name) she was struggling seving her 16 person chairs. She was super polite and nice...but couldn't really handle it. Coach had already gotten snacks and 2 garbage clean ups before we got our 1st drink in an hour...this Is not an I'm more important than coach comment...it was just disappointing it took so long. Then Anthony came up to help her...guided her and helped her serve while still helping the other passengers. He's a diamond in the rough! Alaska did an amazing job...can't wait to fly with them again. I also hope Anthony is on my flight!

My wife and I were flying home from a trip to Tucson and she was unfortunately dealing with a temporary disability that necessitated wheel chair assistance. For that reason, we were the last passengers to exit the plane and for that reason I was carrying all of our carry on baggage. Since I was dealing with more than I normally would, I forgot my Samsung tablet in the seat back in front of me. I notified Alaska within less than 2 hours and I told them where I left it as well. Needless to say I am one month out and have not received my tablet back. I have been a customer for many years and have always held Alaska in high esteem for customer service and integrity. I guess I am re-evaluating that.
