We just had a lovely four-night stay at Albergo Garisenda. It is our favorite small hotel in Bologna. The rooms have high ceilings, ceiling fans, AC, and comfortable beds. Wi-Fi is free. Our room was large, sparkling clean, and inexpensive. A light breakfast is included and the Garisenda's cappuccino should not be missed. The location is excellent, right in the heart of historic Bologna, and just a few steps from the two famous medieval towers, the ancient Santo Stefano church, and the great Basilica of San Petronio. The fascinating open food market is even closer, along with the food shops/restaurants Tamburini and Eataly. It is also near the university (founded in 1066), the wonderful shops, the world famous Bolognese restaurants, and the must-see sights. The city center is closed to all traffic on weekends, putting the Garisenda at the center of a walker's paradise. If you don't know Bologna, Laura and Maurizio will advise you on the treasures that are only a few steps away. We are frequent visitors to Bologna and always feel very comfortable, welcome, and well cared for at the Garisenda. It's a real gem!
