Super tasty! Great food and friendly staff! A very cosy Vietnamese restaurant where you can eat delicious food for a great price. You have tons of possibilities as well as vegetarian options!
A full dinner for two people including appetizers, main course and cocktails for less than 30€!
Love it!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 26. Okt. 2018Aktualisierter Beitrag
Open and excellent.
Wish I knew why they were closed as the restaurant looks back to its original setup. The food is excellent!!
Reasonably priced. Fancy presentation.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 023. Okt. 2018Vorheriger BeitragBest 1-star restaurant, ever
I don't speak German, so I don't have the whole story, but I do know that I couldn't get dinner here tonight.
Doors locked, no furniture in the restaurant. Either they are redoing the restaurant, or it is closing.
Hoping it is a redo. Last time the food was amazing and inexpensive. - Alex A.Calgary, Kanada313453. Sept. 2018
I'm confused by the positive reviews. In Eastern Germany people clearly don't know the difference between Vietnamese and Thai food. Deep fried chicken is something one can find only in Germany. Food is bland so if you want a quick you need to ask for because "scharf" won't taste like spicy at all.

I'm going to start my review by saying one thing: Tiger Beer!
I know what you're thinking. "But Tiger Beer is Singaporean!" I find that if there's a way to make an ethnic restaurant feel more authentic, it is by importing the beer from that local region.
With that being said, An Nam is probably one of the most authentic Vietnamese restaurants I've been to while in Germany. They have a variety of dishes on their menu. The coi guon (spring/summer rolls for those who aren't familiar with the name) here are probably the best I've had in Europe; caveat - I would have preferred the hoisin peanut sauce mix rather than nuoc mam.
For my main meal, I ordered a Pho Tai. It came out as expected for a Vietnamese restaurant in this part of Europe. I'm not going to go into detail here on why the pho is different than what would find in Cali or New York, but if you are interested, you can see my other review on Vietnamese restaurants, mainly in Prague to explain the regional differences in the Pho served in Eastern Europe.
To close out the meal, we ordered ca phe sua (or Vietnamese coffee). They were served with the dripper attachment on top of the glass - this sealed the deal for me. Even though it was pouring as we ate, it was rather glorious to be able to relax, eat and enjoy our meals, sipping on cold Tiger Beer and having an after diner smoke outside under an overhead, incandescent bamboo lamp as the rain casted off the umbrella/awning.
Probably the only thing that would make this restaurant better is if they offered Banh Mi. :DHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sven C.Leipzig, Sachsen0118. Sept. 2016
One of the best asian restaurants in Leipzig. The food is authentic south-east-asian (as opposed to a europeanized version of asian food).
The staff is quite friendly and you wait under 10min from ordering until the food arrives.
But what really stands out and makes me prefer this place over others are the fruit shakes. They have lots of interesting combinations like orange and banana. To put it in a word: "Foodgasm".
I like the athmosphere as well: they have these landmark paintings of rural Vietnam and Ehen you visit the restroom area you're welcomed by a bowl filled with water and rose flowers.
All in all one of my favorite Restaurants.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Tijana M.Martinroda, Thüringen5029. Nov. 2015
Amazing meal and a pleasant atmosphere. Taste of Bun Ga Nuong was an explosion in my mouth.

If you are in Leipzig and enjoy Asian cuisine, then you NEED to come to this place. The staff is friendly, the food is sensational and comes out very quick, the prices are more than fair and the portions are huge. So skip the cafes, bakeries and bratwurst stands and bring your large appetite to this restaurant; believe me, it will be worth it.
I had their (B) dish which is a curry masterpiece with a massive piece of perfectly fried battered chicken breast, luscious yellow curry, crisp veggies and a heap of white rice. All for under €6.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jeff M.Denver, Vereinigte Staaten6611516. Juni 2015
The best tofu ever! This cozy little spot, An Nam, is a delightful place to slurp soup after a day touring Leipzig. Not a tourist spot, but being one I found myself considering to lick the curry sauce of my wife's plate - it tasted so good. Nobody would recognize me, right?
The charming staff handled my questions well by providing a menu in English. Once ordered, the food was promptly delivered to the table. And they have an assortment of beverages including fruit shakes.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Angela P.Newcastle, Vereinigtes Königreich67431168. Nov. 2014
Probably one of the best meals I have had while living in Leipzig. It is a treat to finally have Asian food here which is not dumbed down for the European palette. Flavors are spot on and everything from the appetizers to drinks are very good.
Steamed appetizers were served in a bamboo steamer lined with fresh lemongrass leaves. Mains were very large portions and had really nice, complex flavors. The drinks labeled 'shakes' on the menu were delicious fresh juice mixes, with your choice of combinations like lime juice, coconut milk, lemongrass, mint and apple. The only down side was the rushed and not so friendly service, but I will chalk it up to being a very busy Friday night. We will definitely be back here a lot.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dolf S.Kinkerbuurt, Amsterdam, Niederlande2684. Aug. 2014
Food fresh food, quickly served. Good favors, not spicy. You can add heat to your liking. Large portions. Looks quite nice, but not a place to spend an evening. Total cost €20 per person 3-course with drink and tea afterwards.
