This lovely little wine bar is located on a quiet street near Sorbonne University. It has a good wine selection; amble portions of traditional French favorites; gracious wait staff; and a relaxing, comfortable ambiance.
We started with the Bone Marrow, which was served in two huge bones, and accompanied by sea salt in a mini Staub cocotte, and wonderful crusty French bread. I had never eaten bone marrow before, and I found it to be very decadent and rich.
For main dishes, boyfriend had the cassoulet with duck and pork, delicious comfort food; and I had a spicy sausage with mashed potatoes. So incredibly good!
We shared a bottle of Brouilly red wine while we waited for our mains to arrive. The main dishes took quite a while to be served, maybe because of the cassoulet. No matter - we were enjoying a nice bottle of wine seated next to a window with cool evening breezes, overlooking a lovely, quiet street.
I'm sure their desserts are amazing, but we were too full to try one. We could not finish nor take with us the cassoulet, which made me sad.
Note to self: Must learn how to make traditional French cassoulet.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1 - 27. Dez. 2022
A lovely introduction to Paris!
We stopped here for dinner on our first night in town. It was just around the corner from our hotel and perfect for an exhausted couple.
The space is a collection of cozy rooms on various levels of several interconnected buildings. All I know is, despite being near capacity on a Friday evening, they managed to find us a lovely table next to a window.
The high points of our meal were their onion soup (at the start) and the Ile Flottante at the tail end. Both were delicious and definitely worth ordering.Helpful 4Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 1 - 19. Feb. 2023
UGH. How on earth this place has any positive reviews is a mystery. Cheap decor, drunk patrons endlessly arguing in the bar area, uncomfortable bar stools, indifferent waitstaff, mediocre wine, stale croutons as bar snacks, etc. I could not wait to leave. Paid for my half consumed glass of alleged Vacqueyras and scampered out!

A great restaurant with a various offering of french cuisine. We came here for lunch and ordered escargot, french onion soup, beef tartar, and lamb. All the dishes were phenomenal with ample portion sizes, all for a reasonable price. English-friendly staff was an extra plus as well.

Came here based on other recommendations and it didn't disappoint!! staff is so friendly ( and speaks english!) - the chicken with french fries is SO good. Ask about their suggestions du jour- we got the fish of the day with a curry sauce and zucchini and it was trés incredible. We got there early (630/ right at open) and we didn't wait, but it filled up fast.

So good. Food was amazing. The floating island was the biggest I've ever seen and so tasty. Quite the bustling restaurant. Very friendly wait staff and fun ambiance. Everything that came out of the kitchen smelled amazing.

This restaurant was really tasty. We had a delicious Bordeaux bottle of wine. I had the special which was a beef skewer with vegetables and potatoes. It was cooked to perfect medium and came with gravy. The meat definitely was not a filet but a little on the fatty side but still tasty. I sampled the veal which was delicious and the fish if the day which was a white fish. We finished it off with creme brûlée! Our waitress was really nice and friendly. Great stop!

#TakeMeBackTuesday - Remembering Paris...
En route to the Luxembourg Palace and Gardens, we got off the Cluny-La Sorbonne station and stopped at Au Père Louis for lunch. From the Metro, it was a lovely stroll southwest along Boulevard Saint-Michel with a pit stop at Place de la Sorbonne.
Bone Marrow with Sea Salt and Grilled Bread - This was like butter on toast in high gear! The bone was huge with plenty of deliciously roasted marrow. More baguette, s'il vous plaît!
Burgundy Snails with Garlic Butter - For the love of snails! I love Filipino snails cooked in coconut milk (Ginataang Kuhol/Suso) and those in Vietnamese soup (Bún c) so I really looked forward to trying these escargots. They were big, tender, and had a wonderful texture. Filled with a concoction of garlic, butter, and parsley, this dish lived up to my expectations.
Grilled Fresh Scallops and Green Beans - Nicely plated - so simple yet so elegantly looking! The sea scallops were pan-seared to perfection and were served on top of sautéed green beans. Tasted so awesome, but I feel this could have used another scallop or two and more greens.
My wife had the Traditional Onion Soup and our daughters picked the Grilled Veal Steak, Blue Cheese, and Gratin Dauphinois and the Pork Sirloin from Aveyron with French Fries. The soup had the right amount of caramelized onions and was generously gratinéed with Gruyère cheese and croutons. The veal was grilled medium as requested and the pork was finely seasoned. The meat portions were smaller than usual though.
We were seated on the upstairs area along with a few other customers and had a terrific time. We found Au Père Louis via Yelp and we decided to check it out because it felt like an authentic French bistro based on the reviews and photos. Yeah, it looked and tasted like it...Helpful 38Thanks 0Love this 38Oh no 0 - Daniel L.CA, Vereinigte Staaten02127. Sept. 2023
Food was delicious! Very nice staff including Chris. Nothing but great recommendations and just a nice genuine man! Thank you for being so welcoming and nice! Onion soup is one of the best we had here in Paris.
