Au Pied de Fouet

Small cozy family style place with a great atmosphere and friendly service. It had a very homey feel and the family was very inviting. They have a plat du jour that changes daily and always had multiple options for every diet. The house red wine was delicious and was served with a traditional crusty French bread. We ate here twice during our stay in Paris and would definitely return again on our next visit. The space is definitely a little tight, but it adds to that home style feel of the restaurant.

This place is the greatest! It's tiny. I went alone. Shortly after being seated two regulars were seated with me, young guys. They were super friendly and we chatted it up all dinner. On their recommendation, I got the Tarte Tatin for dessert---GET IT!

Duck confit and fish special. Celery root and carrot salads. Glass of wine each, both excellent and split an apple tart. Very crowded, but also very good at a low (for Paris) price. Recommended

This is a cozy neighborhood bistro but stay away if you are not adventurous. The pate appetizer was good - the mashed goose was not. We both resigned ourselves to having the fish entree served with bland brown rice and some type of orange colored sauce. The fish was fresh. We shared the upside down apple pie which was delicious. The real draw here is the ambiance - we shared our bread basket with two locals and the woman next to me let me sample her chicken livers! Note the Frenchmen gathered at the bar for coffee, which is free. Don't come if you are hungry but do visit for the experience. Service is prompt and pleasant. The waitress explained the menu on English.

My boyfriend and I came here late one night while touring the city. It was one of the few places left open in the vicinity, and it had good reviews, so in we went. This small restaurant has a cool, homey vibe with friendly staff. No frills and thrills, just downright delicious food. I had the confit de canard maison (duck confit), and it was soooo good. I can still taste it in my mind, and I crave for more! The duck was cooked perfectly, not dry. My boyfriend ordered the grande assiette de légumes et crudités de saison, and that was quite tasty as well.

Hadn't planned on eating here but a man has needs.
It was late and I was well past my feeding time. I feel bad because my French was stuck in first gear and I could barely say 'please' and 'thank you', but the server was kind enough to indulge and be nice about my clumsiness.

I made the mistake of ordering a salad as I knew the duck leg and mash potatoes was probably not going to have any vegetables. Essentially the salad was its own meal much to my chagrin. At least it was quite tasty as was the duck leg and mash potatoes.

Would recommend if you want a nice place to eat after visiting the Place du Vosges. One of the better meals I've had in the city.

They get four stars for their kind service.

This is a great little Mom & Pop kind of neighborhood cafe.
Its not very big.... also its not very tall and you may end up having a stranger seated next to you at the same table.
They have a limited menu but everything they make is really delicious, I especially love the lentil salad & the duck confit.
Lots of regulars come here for lunch and dinner, the place has a loft space upstairs for extra seating and extra low ceiling, but still the place has maybe 12 tables.
I usually come right at 7 PM when they open, that way im sure to get a seat without waiting and can get outta there before they get really crowed.
The owners are always there and can be pretty funny.

Excellent restaurant. Warm and inviting and classic French foods. You might not impress clients but you will make friends in this place.

The food here was phenomenal. The duck was cooked perfectly and the food specials for the night were delicious. The wait staff was beyond nice to us and helped us through ordering, even though they didn't have an English menu.

My family just had an amazing dinner. There was a server who spoke great English for us since we don't speak French. In fact everyone was friendly. Food is very delicious yet price was very reasonable. I felt like I was eating at someone's house because it was very cozy. Everything we ordered was tasty and all the dessert we ordered exceeded our expectations!! When we come back to Paris, we will definitely come here again. Merci for a special night.
