Austin Java

I wish Austin Java would move north! They do great things with omelettes and bottomless diet cokes. This particular location also has a cute (albeit) tiny patio. I've had intern lunches here and productive meetings. There are enough tables and plug ins.

This isn't their fault but i am usually in coffee shops to work. This AJ's wireless is so slow or out on a pretty consistent basis. It's part of the reason I've begun picking other spots to do work in. Regardless, it's an okay coffee shop with okay wireless and breakfast all day. We can all agree it's better than going to Starbucks.

On my first visit to this coffee spot, I was greeted by friendly staff and had the experience of tasting some mighty fine coffee. The atmosphere is also very inviting and homey (which makes total sense since it appears the shop was once a residential house).

I didn't get to try any of the food beyond a muffin (which was tasty), but I would certainly return and try some of their entrées. From the look of the ones that were being carried out to neighboring tables, I'm pretty sure their non-bakery food rock.

Note that Austin Java features both indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is particularly peaceful, even with the traffic passing by. Maybe it's because of the great shading provided by the trees and greenery.

Check this place out if you're nearby. I'm pretty sure you'll be glad you did!

Good coffee, good prices. Really like the atmosphere. Got a cookie as well that was kind of hard but it was still good. The staff is very friendly.
I tried the caramel iced coffee and it was amazing, I had think I finished it in two gulps so I kind of wish the sizes were larger. The turtle frappe is really good too, but it's very sweet!
Good place to go hang or study or read a book. I'll be coming back!

You know what, I'm going to give this Austin Java a 5-star rating. And I'm going to back it up with my reasons, and I don't really care if you think I'm overrating them because I've given this some thought and have done the rationalization, and this was a nearly perfect 5-star experience.

I had a groupon, it was the last day, so I show up after work to find a plethroa of patrons who are in the same position as me. I haven't been to Austin Java in a long time, forgot the menu, but did not forget about their awesome African Spicy Peanut Soup - - that was definitely on my list.

I mull over the choices, I'm in the mood for a burger, they sound great but I've never had one of theirs. The guy is patient with me, he recommends the Turkey Burger w/ Avocado and Swiss and the Thai Chicken Sandwich. Both sandwiches come w/ a side of soup, let's add on another bowl and call it a done deal - - I'll take it to go.

It took a while, but they were busy, and my order came and was well-packaged up. They even gave me a little extra soup since they knew I loved it. I brought it home thinking I would just take a bite of each sandwich and save it for lunch the next day, but much to my amaze the sandwiches tasted so damn good I ate about half of each. That mayo they give you (it was on the side - kudos for that) was excellent. The turkey burger size was smaller than I'd like, but it was full of flavor. And the whole wheat bun also tasted great - - even the next day too! It kept very well, which doesn't happen that often when it comes to burgers and leftovers.

Service was spot-on excellent, very nice and professional. I was so very happy w/ the quality of my food, and that awesome spicy peanut soup, and they serve breakfast all day and alos have specials everyday - - including buy 1 get 1 free burgers on Monday!! YAY!!!!

Austin Java is the perfect place to have an Austinite dining experience. The menu has options for every kind of eater and the atmosphere is very welcoming. The staff is extremely hipster and friendly!

My favorite dish is the Californian omelette, however the Benedicts are delicious as well. Parking can be a little tough but the experience is worth the struggle!

This is the single worst breakfast experience I've ever had in Austin. Finally Ordered and they got my order wrong. corrected them confirmed and still came out in a Togo box. They were out of Baileys, and bloody marry mix. When they did bring my Tequila sunrise I was in a dirty glass, they replaced it with grenadine and tequila with a splash of OJ. The chicken and waffles would barely qualify as food. The Chicken was more like chicken flavored fried cardboard. WE'LL NEVER COME BACK!!

Whether you're looking for a quick cheap place for breakfast or to try a different variation of Chicken & Waffles, Austin Java has it all. Ordered at the counter and got my food roughly 15 minutes later. Good thing about counter service is that you don't have to worry about tipping a waiter. For breakfast I got the Chicken & Waffles which were pretty delicious. The corn flake breaded chicken paired very well with the coffee maple syrup and green chile bacon jam. I was highly satisfied and will definitely be back!

Always a favorite breakfast spot in Austin. I don't live in Austin anymore but before my way out on ACL weekend my friend and I made a stop here to fuel up for the day. I ordered just regular drop coffee and selected the Texas pecan roast. Oh my word. I think I refilled my mug 3 or so times it was so delicious. Honestly I would recommend getting that over a latte. It was packed with flavor and much less costly. For breakfast I ordered a banana nut pancake. In the picture you can see how large this pancake was, well I ate it all. My friend ordered the French toast and realllly enjoyed her meal as well. Will continue to come back here for years to come!

Worst breakfast ever. I got the chicken and waffles.. more like eggos and for a breadcrumbs. I never give 1 star for just the food but there's a first for everything.

This rating is for Sure Thing Comedy only (a comedy show hosted at Austin Java in the back stage every Saturday night).

I was looking around for things to do in Austin on a Saturday night other then drinking and I found out about Sure Thing. It starts at 8pm and was told to arrive a bit early to get a good seat and parking. We arrived about 20 mins early and had the option of every seat in the house.

The show consisted of three performers plus the two hosts. Over all, for a free show, I couldn't ask for anything more. Two of the comedians were hilarious while the third was okay. Its also a major bonus that you can order food and drinks from Austin Java throughout the show.

P.S. Stay away from the front row unless you want to get called out in the show

I normally love this place, but I'm disappointed in what just happened.

I ordered a salad to go, and got all the way home before I realized it was the wrong salad. Not sure there's anything more frustrating than looking forward to one thing, only to be given a sub-par version of it. I called to tell them what happened and they said they could remake it or refund my money. Since it's currently rush hour and I live 30 minutes away, I opted for the refund. When they asked what the name was on the order, I gave them my name and tried to explain that I had ordered at the counter, not over the phone. She was snippy and said "all I need is your name". She waited a minute, said it had been refunded and then hung up on me.

All I wanted was an apology.

I would normally give this place 5 stars for the food, but poor customer service makes me not want to return...sad day.
