Backbord

Somehow, Backbord is a very easy place to miss/mis-read. It took me three years of living in the area before I ventured in. Partly it was due to not noticing the place and partly it was due to me assuming that it was a slightly fancy restaurant (it isn't).
Backbord is definitely not fancy. If anything it's slightly punky in keeping with St Pauli. Expect to find dogs lying next to the bar and TVs showing the football. The food is decent and quite decent prices and the atmosphere is nice.

I love Backbord.
The service is excellent and so is the food. The prices are almost too low for what you get eg. tonight i had a small spag gorgonzola and the pommes mit salat. The pommes plate was huge and the gorgonzola sauce there makes me melt, the whole thing was under 10 eus. All the meat is organic. The salads are huge. They have big fat steak fries.
The place is real, it's not fancy and it's not grubby. It's where I go when I'm really hungry and don't want to cook.

Local pub, doesn't seem like much. But you'll be surprised how well the food actually is

Good place to have lunch

I just came back after having eaten a great steak at Backboard. The place is nice and they have a lot of food for vegetarians which is not what I had :-). All the meat they offer is "bio" and the taste is great. A cool St. Pauli insiders restaurant where the locals eat - not just the tourists. You can go there to drink beer as well. Good prices and nice staff. Worth a visit for sure.

Backbord is a bar and restaurant, styled like a sailors pub but not like a typical tourist trap but simple and very nice. You have a very good choice of liqueurs and beer. The food is regional and simple in style and very tasty. Its a meeting point for St.pauli supporters and leftist people. Great staff, great music, a place you do not want to leave anymore.

Very nice food in low price! It would get 5 stars if only the service was a little better.

I liked the pommes plate. Alot of food for low prices. Suprisingly the place was quiet for a sunday afternoon.
