Baxpax Downtown Hostel Hotel

This is a hip, chic hostel close to the main sights in Berlin. We stayed here for 2 nights in in a 5 bed room. Room layout had lockers below one bunk (basically a loft bed), a bunk bed and two beds side by side, which was stranger than most hostel arrangements but worked so it's all good. It was very clean and had a view overlooking the courtyard. A pool is available upstairs which wasn't open when we were there cause of the rain. Also a large patio area and bar area which was nice for watching football. Food and drink is a bit on the higher price end here. Laundry machines weren't working when we were there however.

For sure one of the best hotels that I've stayed in. The room was amazingly clean and the location was pretty good as well.

The place has some pretty good amenities for a hostel as well. There is a courtyard with huge "beds" and a little pool and a rooftop deck with couches, chairs, another little pool, and an amazing view of Berlin.

The rooms are very well soundproofed. My room was on the first floor facing the courtyard and while I could hear some noise with the window open, as soon as I closed it, it was almost totally gone! I was impressed. Probably got some of the best nights sleep that I've ever had in a hostel here.

Very affordable hostel. You can't check in until after 1pm but they have huge lockers downstairs. 10€ CASH deposit to use them. You get it back when you check in and no longer need the locker key. Very clean rooms. My hostel room was filled with all attractive French women so that was a huge plus. Can't complain really. Book online instead of using hostelworld. Sometimes cheaper.

The hostel itself was good, clean, and in a nice location, but the rudeness and snarkiness from the employees was absolutely unacceptable. I understand being cool is their primary concern, but the employees at this hostel need a lesson in customer service.

On my first day there, I requested to use the washing machine and dryer. Not only did it cost 5€ (with a 20€ deposit), but the machine was not functional when I attempted to use it. I walked back to reception and informed the person working, and he scoffed at me and asked if I hadn't ever used a washing machine before. He proceeded to huff and puff as he made his way to the laundry room, and then it took him several minutes to figure it out as well. I understand things sometimes don't work (that's not my complaint) but his pompous and pretentious attitude was ridiculous.

Not much good can be said about the other employees either -- they seem to share a negative attitude. My friends who I was traveling with had a horrible experience with a broken fixture in their room, and the manager was extremely condescending towards them. The rooms themselves are okay, but the staff is reason enough to book elsewhere.

Awesome location within walking distance from the Friedrichstrasse station (just one stop from the Hbf) in the old Jewish quarter(?). In house bar and restaurant. The private rooms were great for a hostel. Pretty cool vibe, young clientele and laid back.

Restaurants, shopping and museum island nearby. There's also a natural grocery store nearby if that's your thing. The staff can provide some great info on Berlin. Check it out, highly recommended!

In the center.of Betlin Mitte near to many cafeed, and pubs..


The matress was quite thin and not suitable for a 100kg person, the fixtures in the bathroom reminded me of public bathrooms..


The single/double rooms are ok but if you don't mind to stay at a different district, you could get much better rooms at standard Hotels for the same price.

An amazing hostel in Berlin!
The rooms are really nice (as is the whole building), the staff are friendly, there is laundry service and internet availible.
There is a lively bar with karaoke and Wii sports.
A free walking tour runs from the lobby in the mornings.

I stayed in a private double room and to be honest for the price a hotel would have been better.
I wanted self catering facilities but the microwave was broken (and never fixed), hot plate didn't really work , cutlery and crockery almost non-existant and mis-matched.
When I complained they said to use the in-house breakfast but it defeats the point of self catering. (I was staying in Berlin to work at unusual hours).
Bathroom fixtures were not good and very dated.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and I believe since my stay it was has been rennovated.

Stayed here for Christmas and New Years 2009/2010.
Excellent location!! Its llocated in the centre of the city, so everythings within walking distance. Some cool clubs and bars also haha.. especially zapata, got to check it out while in Berlin!!


The breakfast at the hostel is pretty good, bathrooms are really clean, and the rooms are also nice. The staff spoke perfect english and was very helpful and friendly.


I LOVED Berlin and I will definitely come back! probably stay at baxpax again!

Very reasonable prices, friendly staff, free wifi, very close to the city centre. We stayed in an apartment; it was clean, modern, and airy. There's also a sauna, games room, bar and cafe
