Bombay

Direkt neben dem Friedrichsstadtpalast befindet sich das Bombay. Jahrelang sind meine Begleitung und ich dort vorbeigegangen und haben das Bombay als Touristenfalle abgetan. Von aussen sieht es auch nicht gerade schick aus. Aber irgendwann haben wir uns einen Ruck gegeben und sind dann doch dorthin. Um es vorweg zu sagen: wir haben es in keinster Weise bereut.


AMBIENTE
Wie oben erwähnt nicht gerade schick. Im Sommer wenigstens einen Biergarten, im Winter muss man dann doch drinnen sitzen. Wegen des Ambientes sollte man nicht dorthin gehen.


KÜCHE / KARTE
Überraschend teuer der erste Eindruck. Hauptgerichte nicht unter 10 Euro. Für Inder im Osten teuer. ABER: viele Gerichte, die es sonst bei anderen Indern nur selten gibt, unter anderem Chicken Massala. Das Essen ist hervorragend, da gibt es gar nichts zu meckern. Perfekt zubereitet, gut serviert. Einfach ein sehr guter Koch.


SERVICE
Ebenfalls hervorragend. Schon nach dem zweiten Besuch wurden wir erkannt und zuvorkommend begrüßt. Klar gibts die üblichen indischen Boni wie Papadam und Mango-Schnaps.


FAZIT
Sehr gut, eine echte Überraschung. Unbedingt mal ausprobieren! Der Inder gehört in meine persönliche Top5 in Berlin.

The food itself was great for us: delicious dishes, big portions. Welcoming and kindly staff.

But the restroom was really shocking when I came to wash hands...

Place is good for a quick lunch. Naan does not seem like a authentic one. Not really spicy even though it said it was. Service is not the best just like in many places in Berlin. :)

The place is great, fast, and the service was excellent.

We had the business lunch offer:
- Soup (great)
- salad (average)
- lamb tikka masala (meat quality was not that good)
- chicken curry (chicken felt frozen type)
- garlic naan (great)

The spices are good, I mean the curry itself and the masala.

It's an Indian restaurant plus full bar. Interesting combination. Customer service was excellent there. The food was good. I had kabap and butter chicken. Both were really delicious. Price was quite reasonable plus they have a very good lunch menu during weekdays. Cleanliness might need a little improvement. Part of the restaurant had some flies so I had to change my table. Overall not bad at all.

Good Indian food in central Berlin. Convenient to central Berlin, Bombay has good curries and generous portions. The service was good and friendly. Atmosphere was good. If you're in Berlin and in the mood for Indian, this is a very good option.

Ate here after just getting in from Schönefeld airport. What a beautiful restaurant! The food was amazing!!! My husband & I just ate going "mmmmm" at each other!! Totally scrummy & the prices were good. Lovely friendly staff too.

This is hands-down the worst Indian food I've ever eaten anywhere in the world. They should just call the restaurant "Bombay" and knock off the spice - the curry had zero spice. A few pieces of "insert cottage cheese or any vegetable" drowned in tomato juice. The curry had absolutely no personality or taste whatsoever. And expensive. They also make fun of you with the prices. The lunch menu is 5,90 in the board on the road, then it's 6,90 in the menu card on the door and finally when the waiter hands you the menu - it's 7,90. And you order because you're embarrassed to probably just walk away after being seated. Will never visit again or recommend to anyone.

The staff is awesome, and the food is superb. Perfect balance of spice and heat! I don't prefer the tandoori chicken when it's dripping in sauce; I'm used to more of a dry rub in the States. But apart from that, this is my favorite Indian spot in Berlin.

Pretty average Indian food and a few marque dishes are not traditional. For example the Tandoori chicken comes on a sizzler platter.
I would recommend to go for the Vegetarian dishes which were very good and closer to home.
