Budgens Stores

Convenient corner shop in "downtown" York, this Budgens has a decent selections of groceries and surprisingly, produce. The beer and wine selection is also pretty good. It's right near a number of York's bus stations, so if you're on the way home this is a good place to pickup whatever you're making for dinner. I was only on the way back to my hotel, so it was just a packet of cookies (the locals would call them 'biscuits') and some milk for a late night snack.

Prices are a little on the high side - you wouldn't want to do your full shop here, but if it's just to top up then this is your spot.

Budgens is a typical convenience store, in that it is quite overpriced, but open late and often very useful to have. This one is right in town and open till about 11pm so it's great when you need to go and buy something last minute when the other shops are shut.
Budgens is just like a small supermarket, and they sell drinks, alcohol, cigarettes, chilled food, frozen food, groceries, magazines, and confectionery.
Overall a shop that is quite pricey but sometimes a bit of a life saver.

I am a local and this is my local shop. Some items are a little overpriced but others seem reasonable. Definitely convenient as other stores are further out. Very friendly staff. They have a new Polish products section at the moment.
