Café Vogelfrei

On my stop in Mannheim I ate lunch here with a friend. Chill hipster vibe. Great Indian lentil soup and quiche with peas. All vegan...in small town Germany! Only drawback I found is that the "free" WiFi wants to post on your Facebook page for you.

Unfortunately the Vogelfrei has become much of a let-down lately. You still have to ask about each dish whether it's vegan or vegetarian, there are rarely any labels on anything and so you have to ask, ask, ask.
As a result, waiting times can be quite horrible. Which would still be perfectly ok with me for I like to support anything vegan/vegetarian.
The most dramatic change over the past months, though, is how the service has gotten superficial and revenue-oriented. On some occasions I was even dropped and ignored after I declined to have a drink to go with my dish.
Coincidence or not, the cake slices have become smaller and smaller and it's quite astounding how I see myself charged 3,- for something that's not even the size and thickness of a small slice of pizza.
Deeply disappointed.
