Hey, it is Bifanas.
We wanted a simple, traditional and inexpensive meal and this was great. I had a beer and a bifana sandwich with fries. We sat outside at a table while the rain rolled in.
The bread/roll that it was served on was fresh and the meat was tender. I used a little mustard and some hot sauce on mine once I get a feel for the subtle seasoning of the meat.
Our waiter was attentive and the total for our dinner was under $15 US. Mission acomplishedHelpful 1Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0 - 7. Nov. 2022
Came here for lunch on a Monday and the place was relatively packed
Pros:
- The Bitoque was yummy, especially the runny egg on top
- The Bifana was okay, pretty dry. Mustard helped with the dryness
Cons:
- Waited 20 min to get the menu and place an order
- Chicken noodle soup was a bit on the saltier end and lukewarmHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jamie A.Irvine, Vereinigte Staaten0618422. Jan. 2024
Tried a few famed and beloved Bifana places during my trip to Lisboa and this was my absolute FAVORITE!! So much so that we returned two more times for breakfast throughout our week stay. Their bifana has a really good amount of savory meat inside (others I tried only had a thin slice) and the most delicious flavor. The bread it was served on was superb - light and fluffy and perfectly crusted. I also had a traditional tosta mista and of course paired all my meals here with a meia de leite :) Service is so quick and very friendly despite the language barrier and my broken portuguese haha. Very homey and clearly a much loved spot by locals of Lisboa. Will miss this place dearly and recommend everyone visiting to try!!! Obrigada :D

Provender: I ordered the bitoque and it was very satisfying. A bitoque is a grilled steak with a fried egg served with French fries, or batatas fritas in Portuguese, and rice. The bitoque served here comes with butter, so the steak has a nutty flavor to it. I highly recommend trying it.
Prices: the bitoque will run you under 10 Euros, so it's a great lunch option.
Parking: N/A
People: fun for all.
Perks: they have both indoor and outdoor seating, so you can catch plenty of sunshine while eating. Google Maps might lead you to the back end with no entry, so it's best to enter through the Praca da Figueira side. Also, they serve bifanas and other good stuff here.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Patricia P.Arlington, Vereinigte Staaten0195626. Nov. 2022
Cute little place. Great food, friendly staff. The place was packed when we came in for breakfast. Got a little quieter when we left.
Would recommend this restaurant.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 128814371321528. Okt. 2019
Casa das Bifanas is an authentic and tiny traditional Portugal restaurant located closely in the central of Lisbon. It was crowed when we were there but the wait was not bad. Their service was not so friendly but adequate.
We ordered their signature Bifanas and grilled cod platter. The pork in the Bifanas was amazingly juicy even looked dry and welled flavored, it was braised long time in a huge pot by the window. The grilled cod was the best cod, not chewy but soft, we had in Lisbon.
Overall, we will definitely recommend tourists to stop by here, the food was delicious with reasonable price.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - 7. Juni 2018
Bifanas-***
Other food and service.- *
Bifanas sandwiches are simmered Pork slices.I'm not crazy about this item in general, but it is one of the tastier establishments in Lisbon. Prices are reasonable and it seems to be popular with locals. However everything else on the menu is subpar.
Unfortunately, I got their worse waiter in the house and in Portugal overall. I thought it was because I was a tourist, but I saw him treating everyone else worse. He literally threw silverware on the tables, and got irritated when anyone asked a question Or dared to ask for a menu.
If you're waiting for the tram and decide to come in, i recommend ordering an omelette or a Bifana and a fresh orange juice and call it a day.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 22. Apr. 2020
This small shop is famous for their signature bifana. Bifanas are a traditional Portugese sandwich with pork. The pork were big chunky pieces and very juicy, pairing perfectly with the crusty bread roll that the meat was stuffed between. The meat itself did not have much flavor though. I was also told to put mustard into it which did help to enhance the flavor a bit more. It was definitely a very affordable price and the sandwich itself is good to try, especially to snack on as you look for other food.

You know what your going to get when you wander into this place after a night of drinking. A perfectly prepared bifana sandwich served with fries smothered in mustard, that you can joyfully wolf down.

Looking for a quick and tasty lunch? Then grab a Bifana from this self proclaimed " House of Bofinas"! Go where the locals go, I always say and this place was packed with local bus drivers and street cleaners on the day I was there.
I grabbed a table out on the patio and waited for my server to come and take my order. If you don't have time to sit and want to save a little money, go inside and stand and eat at the counter . . . Either way you are in for a real treat!
A Bifana is a pork sandwich where the pork is cooked perfectly and the warm garlicky juice runs into the crusty bun. Add an order of fries and a cold beer and you have the perfect lunch!
Because it's not a big tourist place no one speaks English so grab a menu and plan to point at what you want but the servers were great at understanding even me, so I know you will fare equally well. They also serve breakfast and a range of pastries and cakes.
You may have to hunt for this place as it is often hidden by the big "hop on hop off" buses that load in the square but keep looking. It's definitely worth finding!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
