Casita Mexicana

This place is over-rated on Yelp!
We have yet to find a great Mexican restaurant in Düsseldorf.
We started with the guacamole and chips. The guac was actually not bad and made fresh. It could have used some diced tomatoes and jalapeño though. It was the best item the restaurant has to offer. The chips were lacking flavor.
I ordered a chicken burrito. It was mostly shredded iceberg lettuce. It had some chicken, peppers and a few pieces of corn and pinto beans. Very ordinary but edible.
My wife ordered tacos. Four of the smallest tacos I have seen were smothered with diced onions. She was also less than impressed.

Casita Mexicana is just another average restaurant that tries their best, but just serves the typical "Euro-Mex" food. It just isn't the same as good Mexican food from the Southwestern U.S. (Or Mexico, of course).

There were only two other couples in the restaurant, yet the girl sat us in the back, right next to the toilet. Didn't realize it until I was eating and started smelling it. Poor decision by the staff.

Ordered delivery. Food was okay, not spectacular. Won't be ordering there again. We got different types of quesadillas and there was hardly any cheese on them. The fillings were so runny/liquidy that the tortillas were drenched and hard to eat. Overall a disappointment

very tasty mexican food, seems authentic to me , better than a lot I had in US.
We had the Nachos , which came with pico de gallo and cheese , and guacamole, and various tacos and quesadillas .
Esp the one with chicken in chocolate sauce , and the slow cooked pork one in orange sauce were great . Goiod craft beer and margheritas too..I can recomment it .. probably the best mexican food in Düsseldorf. The service was nice too , finding a table for us despite all being reserved

Yes, yes, yes!

I'm from California and any time I'm abroad, the one food I crave and miss most is Mexican food because it's so hard to replicate overseas. But Casita Mexicana is great!

What I was struck by, but really appreciate, is their flat pricing structure. Choose your food item and pay one price, regardless of what protein filling you get. As a customer, it's more enjoyable because I can change up my protein choice without feeling like I'm nickled and dimed.

Really disappointing Mexican food if you are used to real Mexican food...
Not horrible, but very average. I had a burrito and guac and chips and it was quite disappointing.

I love Casitas. As far as I know, it's the only authentic Mexican restaurant in the area. Freaking delicious tacos, awesome flavor combos and amazing margaritas.

I've been twice, one where I got a selection of tacos and the second where I just got the al pastor. The latter was by far better. The guac is pretty good too, especially given the quality of avocados in Germany.

The atmosphere is also pretty great --- the staff has always been friendly and speak a combo of German, Spanish and English, which I love. You can have big groups of people here too as I saw a book club happening in the back the other day. Basically, you can't go wrong here.

I thought Mexican food in Germany was a lost cause, but I was finally proved wrong. Casita Mexicana is doing the impossible, serving up street tacos in all their real Mexican glory. They offer al pastor, pibil, carne asada, carnitas, etc., all in homemade corn tortillas with proper fixings (cilantro, lime!). The guacamole is handmade with real avocados, unlike the bizarre "avocado mousse" offered in many faux Mex-German places -- although the portion is quite small. The only thing missing was agua frescas and spicier salsa options. A must-visit if you're missing proper Mexican food in Germany.

It may not be the most traditional of Mexican food but at least the food is so delicious that will not disappointed you. Great food, nice environment, I will come back again!

To begin with, I would say, very very good service. We went without reserving a table, restaurant was full, still the waitress came outside, asked if we would like to get inside, requested us to wait for a couple of minutes and adjusted places somehow by joining tables and chairs. We were impressed!
Food and ambience is very good as mentioned by other Qype users. Only negative I would say is menu is pretty small. But for the price and food quality, defenitely worthy.
Deserves 5 stars.

Very nice Mexican food in Cologne. Not the best Mexican I have ever had but in Germany it works.
