This hotel deserves the praise it receives in these reviews. It was wonderful and the staff were marvelous.

We were strapped for time. We were combining our own anniversary trip with some dear friends wedding. It isn't easy to travel 4,500 miles for a wedding, so we had to combine a couple of trips to justify it. The interesting thing is that we had most of 2 days with nothing really planned. We were doing a few days of touristy stuff in London, going on a Norwegian fjords cruise out of Southampton, and going to a wedding in Essex. But we had 2 days (one night) after the cruise before we needed to be at the wedding resort. WHAT TO DO??

We tossed around several ideas, but my wife had always wanted to visit Bath. I put her on the task of finding a place to stay. She found Dukes and we loved what we read. we booked it.

Dukes was kind enough to notify us that they had no lift (elevator) and our room was on the 2nd floor (US-style that means the 3rd floor because they don't count the ground floor. We go 1-2-3 and they go G-1-2.), but this didn't concern us. Stairs aren't a factor for us... until they were.

On the final port day of our cruise I, a grown man in fine health, took a fairly big fall on a mountain hike. Nothing was broken, but I lost a toenail on each foot and tweaked my knee pretty badly. We arrived in Bath and I was fine walking, but pushing off on steps was incredibly painful for both my toes and my knee.

When we arrived, Nicki was kind enough to allow us to switch from the room with 4 flights of stairs to a ground floor HC-accessible room. That kindness was greatly appreciated. I still had 1 flight of stairs down and then up again to access breakfast, but I just did them very slowly and I wasn't carrying bags. She was also a great tour guide. She filled us in on all the things to see and do. She even gave us suggestions on how to get around with my knee/toes acting up. It was super helpful and she was a credit to Dukes.

The room was clean and nicely done up. The room had a garden view and a huge bathroom (HC). The room was a little warm in the night (small heat wave on the day we arrived) but I'd imagine that most of the year it would be fine. If there was air conditioning, we didn't find it. We kept the windows open all night (no screens) and despite fearing this would just result in massive amounts of bug bites, it didn't. It was definitely warm, though.

The breakfast was AMAZING, yes in caps. AMAZING. There were plenty of options, both hot and cold to choose from. You order hot items from a menu and pick up the cold items on your own from a table. The servers were kind and attentive. The omelet was one of the best I've ever had. It was the highlight of our stay here.

We'd like to try and do another UK trip where we see the English, Welsh, Scottish, and Irish countryside. We'd love to stay here again and hope to do so. Our visit wasn't long enough.

We booked a spa getaway at Duke's to end a Jane Austin Fan Girl adventure week. It was a perfect way to end. We arrived tired after a long drive with frequent stops and traffic from Buxton to find our lovely suite and a chilled bottle of bubbly waiting for us. Our Somerset room was so lovely, we stayed in that night to just relax with our bubbles and cheese we'd purchased along the way and enjoy the accommodation.

I'm glad we did because Bath has so much to see and do that we were hardly there the next couple of days to appreciate it. But each day, we were greeted enthusiastically and given excellent advice on where to go/what to see. And we loved the Bizarre Bath tour that came recommended. Duke's is located an easy walk to just about anywhere in town. Nothing is more than15 minutes or so away.

Through our booking package, we received two hours at the spa baths to use anytime during our stay. We were so busy seeing Bath, we didn't have time until the day of our checkout. They graciously let us leave our luggage and hold onto our parking pass until we finished our trip with the relaxing spa treatments and ready (or not so ready) to head back to reality. It was so nice not to have the added trouble of loading the car early and finding a new parking spot all while we were trying to be at the spa. Truly, the communication with the staff from start to finish was just outstanding. Everyone was so warm and helpful.

Lastly, favorite memory will be the whiskey porridge. After having it the first day, that's all I wanted (and still want.) So delicious!

This hotel provides all you need when visiting Bath for a weekend. We visited for the Christmas market and weren't disappointed. It's walking distance from all the major local landmarks/ attractions and the hospitality of the staff is impeccable.

We booked the "superior double" which worked out as £270 for two pleasant quiet nights. For this we got a "home and country" styled large room which definitely made me and my husband feel like we on our own little private get away ;)

In our room there was a nice selection of complimentary teas and coffees and water. We had a medium sized digital TV and a hair dryer. The Bathroom had a huge bath which was good but meant the toilet and sink were in a tight corner. This is overlooked when you consider how old the building is.

The building a large corner Georgian brick house definitely lives up to its old reputation. Had we stayed any longer than the weekend the hotel ( along with its creaky floors ) have lost its quaint charm.

What would keep me coming back? The breakfast; cooked and continental options for breakfast are tasty and classy. Not to mention you are greeted by a host who is genuinely interested in you and makes for a great start to the day.

Dukes Hotel is a great place to stay when visiting Bath. Located on Great Pulteney Street it is only a short walk to the attractions in the city centre.

We booked a standard double room which was priced at £95 for one night with breakfast included. The room and its en suite bathroom were both clean and comfortable.

The staff at the Hotel are really friendly and always keen to hear about your experiences in the city so that they can help out their future guests. I will happily recommend Dukes Hotel to any prospective visitor to Bath.

I really enjoyed staying at this hotel. Everyone was very nice and helpful. The Olympic relay torch was on the street of the hotel at the time so there was no parking. The Manager Michael went out of his way and drove around to find us a spot to park in. All of the managers here were awesome. Thank you guys for a pleasant stay. It was much appreciated.

Only tried the Restraurant which is called the Cavendish - this is fine dining at an affordable price. The set Lunch at c. £15 has plenty of variety and is excellent. Highly recommended.
