Visited barcelona during low season, and stayed here a couple of nights. What i liked:
- location!! Very central and next to a metro station
- clean
- good price/quality
- dorms are good to meet fellow travellers
Overall, it is what i would expect.
What i liked less: there are no female only dormsHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ryan E.Atlanta, Vereinigte Staaten725461508. Juni 2015
As hostels go, this one wasn't bad.
Location:
This place is in the perfect place. It's close to so many attractions. The beach is a few km away, monuments and attractions are the same. There is a metro station on the block with 4 or 5 different lines running through it. There were also a couple major bus lines close to the hostel as well. I would suggest getting a 10 trip ticket if you're staying a while.
Room:
I stayed in a 12 person co-ed room with my mates on the 3rd floor. The other people that were in the room were nice. Never any conflicts. There was an AC in the room that was a life saver on the hot days. Lockers are provided for everyone but won't fit a normal lock. You will need to bring a small lock, like a luggage lock. I didn't bring one and didn't feel like buying one. I left my bag under my bed and had no issues.
Facilities:
The bathroom was clean. 2 stalls and 2 showers. I never really had to wait. The common areas are also nice. I only went to the 2nd floor which had couches, computers and a bar. It was nice until a lot of people were in it. It got very loud. Sheets and a heavy blanket were provided on the bed. They do want a deposit for everything else you borrow (room key, towels and such). There is free wifi in the common areas and you can pay to have wifi in your room.
People:
The staff was nice. Some people say that they were rude but I don't feel that way. You do have to look at the culture and know that what we see as rude (as Americans) is very normal in Spain. They are helpful and have a lot of knowledge of the area.
If I come back to Barcelona for personal travel, I will definitely stay here again.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Rachel V.Sunland-Tujunga, Sunland-Tujunga, Vereinigte Staaten166728. Mai 2018
I don't understand why it keeps getting good reviews. If I had the money, I'd go somewhere else. Shared a co-ed room with 12 other people and you cannot opt for a same sex dormitory. It's primarily young adults and large high school groups with people shuffling in at all hours of the night. There are a few older individuals which make me feel uncomfortable. Cleanliness isn't ideal, as the bathrooms reek of mold and never had toilet paper or soap. Light fixtures were all broken next to bunk beds, so you cannot use them for reading at night. Thermostat do not work either, and the windows are padlocked preventing airflow. You can crack them with the padlock and chain, but with the strong odors due to so many people in the room, it's not enough airflow. With a total of 64 dormitory units... they have WAY too many people here.
If you choose to come here, make sure to bring shower shoes (as the floors are rather gross), a towel (or rent for 2 euro), a lock for suitcase and lockers, and a blanket (I noticed that they do not wash the blankets over the sheets). Staff consists of bilingual young adults who are always understaffed at reception. Not friendly at all. Pillows are not actually pillows. They stuff a case with synthetic stuffing.
Pros of staying here: it's affordable. A good breakfast for 2 euro. They hosted a free dinner and drinking games to promote community within the hostel. Tours easily accessible here. Rooftop bar.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 3914442694. Nov. 2014
I haven't stayed at many hostels, but I would say that I wouldn't stay here again.
I have mixed reviews about some of the staff here. The guy who checked us in had an attitude, but another man who helped us find some things was one of the nicest exchanges I had in Barcelona.
WiFi DOESN'T work (we found a hotspot in the corner of our room), but they do provide you with a free access code if you want to use their computers in the cafeteria.
No blankets or towels are provided. You can pay a rental fee, 2 Euros for a blanket and/or 2 Euros for sheet (not refundable upon return). Also, they charge you a 1 Euro refundable deposit for the card key (WHO DOES THAT?!)
Nice that breakfast was provided, but I wouldn't have minded if it wasn't. The bread was stacked on a giant tray that you can pop into a rotating toaster, or if toast isn't your thing, you can scoop some cereal out of a giant plastic bowl with a soup spoon. Don't drink the coffee. Trust me.
The first night, we stayed in a 6 girl dorm. Spacious, had it's own bathroom, it's own locker area, and a lot of outlets. My light near my bed didn't work, so I had to use my flashlight to find things in my luggage after hours. The 2nd and 3rd night, we stayed in a 4 girl dorm. Much more cramped, no mirrors (unlike the 6 girl dorm that had plenty of mirrors in the room), only one outlet near the door, and not much room for luggage.
One redeeming factor is that they have a place to store your luggage. It's semi-secure in that you need a key from the front desk to get in the room, but anyone that can get that key basically has access to the room. Make sure to bring locks, as the lockers are useful for safety, but they do not provide locks.
Besides meeting some really cool and interesting people here, I wasn't a huge fan. They allow you to pay with credit card, but charge you some odd euros per night extra. The hostel just seems like a place that tries to nickel and dime you for small things.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Chelsea B.Corvallis, Vereinigte Staaten20535413520. Feb. 2012Erster Beitrag
Equity Point Centric is hands down the best hostel I've stayed at. The location is excellent--it's right off Las Ramblas, and the metro is literally outside the door. The whole place spans several stories and was hip and filled with friendly young people from all over.
My friend and I were in an eight person room, which was sunny and clean with four bunk beds, lockers, and a bathroom with a shower IN the room. Not having to walk down the hall to shower is nice, and if I remember correctly it was only 23€ a night. They provide you with sheets at the desk and you pay a small fee for towels (1€ or something) that you get back when you return them.
Aside from the room, the place was lively and they had a lot going on--a rooftop terrace with tables and a view, a lounge room with couches and pillows painted in crazy colors, and a large eating area where they served free breakfast (cereal, toast, milk, juice, fruit, and muffins). The eating area also included several TVs showing the World Cup and several computers to use the internet provided you had an internet card, which you could purchase at the desk. They also organized outings like bar tours at night, which would have been really nice for a single traveler.
Overall I don't think you're going to find a better hostel for the price in Barcelona.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - António G.North Miami Beach, Vereinigte Staaten01129. März 2013
Pros
Clean
Affordable
Cool to make friends
Location in a safe place
Nice rooms
Cons:
Really bad wi-fi
Check in mistakes. ( me and my friends went to this place with everything paid from the travel agency. When we went there they asked us to pay again!
The situation got solved but was really inconvenient)
Despite everything I do recommend this place specially if you want to meet people from other Eu countries.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Susy C.San Francisco, Vereinigte Staaten6881771127223. Aug. 2012
If you're looking for an affordable yet clean hostel in Barca, come here.
It's perfect for tourists since it is in such close proximity to Las Ramblas. Tons of places to eat and lots of shopping.
The people staying here are mostly young. My friend and I stayed in a larger room so we had our own lockers, toilet and shower.
If you stay in a small room be prepared to use the communal bathrooms.
A light breakfast is provided daily (cereal, milk, fruit) and there is WiFi in the dining area.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - 3089083356. Mai 2013
I haven't stayed in many hostels, but I'm a fan of this one. My friends and I shared a 6 bedroom with 3 others and we all got along great! The bathrooms, rooms, and beds were very clean and well kept, the included breakfast was pretty decent (toast, cereal, fresh-made coffee, tea, juice), and the location was great. Staff were really friendly and helpful, and they offered free walking tours in the morning. Wifi was decent, though at busy times was a bit shotty, but that wasn't a huge issue with us since we were on vacation! Price was reasonable, about $30 pp a night.

I do not recommend this place at all. It's dirty and the staff is rude. They over charged us for an extra bed and did not refund the amount. The room had trash all over the floor when we entered it and our "private room" had two half naked men sleeping in it and was not actually a private room at all. There were many trash bags filled with dirty sheets in the hall way. Multiple people in my group decided to leave immediately book a last minute hotel instead of staying here. We were not refunded.

Do not stay here! Not only i the staff extremely rude and un-helpful but all my friends and I who stayed here got bed bugs! On the first day the staff about yelled at us while checking in and wouldn't tell us were to buy locks for the lockers. Also the told us several times the wrong times or destination for the walking tours which we missed out on. Our room was horrible! The air condition was broken and he cleaning was leaking the entire time. DO NOT STAY HERE!
