If you are visiting Frankfurt, there is a restaurant located on the top floor of this department store worth your time to go eat at. Food choices are sort of buffet style, so you get to pick-n-choose what you like to eat, and how much too (if you are a big eater, or not). The patio also has an excellent view of the area along two streets, plus a bird's eye view of the surrounding downtown towers, making this a great location to take a few snapshots of the surrounding area.
For shopping, the department store is trendy upscale, and sort of reminds me of "The Bay" (Canada), and "Macy's" (USA).Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 3. März 2020
For me, department stores still awaken youth
- and childhood memories. Yes, at that time there were still many, no larger city without at least one department store. Herti, Neckermann, Karstadt and the countless Kaufring shops once shaped German cities. Today only Galeria Kaufhof is left together with the merged Karstadt stocks.
Unfortunately, the assumption that you can still get everything here is mistaken. Thinned out and trimmed for high-turnover goods. If you are not driven here by the need for a trouser button, you will find a better selection online. And that, when the haberdashery department was a paradise. Does anyone still remember, sewing threads in different color gradations correctly sorted - like the color selection in Photoshop these days! Toy departments on at least half a floor, home computers, later PCs.
Today you just walk through - stylish, a bit too narrow, even just one shop.
The restaurant, as usually on the upper floor, is not as functional as it once was. Is the normal customer still the target group?
At least the view from the roof terrace is really worthwhile. Frankfuts Skyline - close to it and a bit on eye level!Helpful 20Thanks 0Love this 13Oh no 0 - 17. Jan. 2019
Truly a fan of Galeria Kaufhof! I consider this a German version of Macy's and can be found throughout Germany. In fact, I have visited their stores in Berlin and Munich, as well. It is dependable and I know I will find what I need (or what I don't need but buy anyway!)
This Galeria is located in the Frankfurt am Main at the Zeil, a very hip shopping area next to Romerburg where you can shop if you have no budget (Versace, Gucci, etc.) Galeria is one store yet looks like a mall. Seven stories, plus a basement that offers fast-food type cuisine and produce.
The store is always packed, but especially busy during the holiday season. In fact, managers were manning the escalator to limit the amount of people on it at one time! Yikes!
Floor upon floor of clothes, shoes, housewares. You name it, they have it. And the prices were quite comparable to America.
I will let you in on a secret. During the holidays when the Christmas markets are selling souvenirs, check out Galeria. I found very nice nutcrackers there that were almost half-price compared what was being sold in the festival! Same with candle holders. If you are a bargain shopper like me, please be sure to check prices!!
The best part about this mega-store is the rooftop restaurant. Or should I say restaurantS. It runs like a cafeteria, but the nice thing is that there are several stations of cuisine, from traditional German fare to Japanese, Italian, Mediterranean. Items are labeled if vegetarian (Vegetarier) and vegan. The real kicker is the patio! Absolutely spectacular views of Frankfurt. Really cool during the Christmas markets, seeing all of the lights and experiencing the sounds of laughter and cheer.
Definitely bookmark this store if you are planning a visit!Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - 17. Dez. 2017
Very clean and modern mall located in downtown Frankfurt. As with most malls, do not expect a one to two floor spread out easy walking scenario. This mall boasts four floors with a food court on the top. To cut to the chase, all floors with non food associations boasts your typical mall'esque type feel (Clothes, jewelry, home goods etc.) The real magic happens on top where you can select from many ethnic "fast" yet fresh food. Anything from asian wok inspired to vege delights, to meat heaven, along with tasty drinks and of course beer! To be honest I opted for a slice of pizza and wine, yes I know...very fancy.
Take the adventure outside on the top floor and you will be blown away that you get almost a 360 degree view of Frankfurt, which is stunning. Since this is a mall and obviously not a secret knock twice on the door establishment to get in, be prepared for most seats to be taken. I was lucky enough to grab a seat with a decent view and enjoy my wine. Prices for the stores and food court are what you would expect from the states, so nothing that will break the bank. As for getting there, it's Europe, expect multiple rail stations nearby, making it quite simple.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Di H.Fayetteville, Vereinigte Staaten041924. Jan. 2019
Great department store where you can get anything you need! Toys, luggage, dishes, clothing, cosmetics, etc. Next door to...and better suited for what I was looking to buy than...My Zeil. Comparable to Macy's in the US.

This place is Ok, a bit pricey. I suppose you can get a few novelty items here. I didn't see much that I cared to buy. I am kind of stuck on price though.
They did have a good candy selection. I liked their little grocery store downstairs. The bakery was OK.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kim R.La Jolla, Vereinigte Staaten3348230. Aug. 2014
My favorite store when in Germany! Whether it's to pick up a sandwich, salad, fresh bread, wine or beer I always end up at Galeria for a heathy lunch /dinner! Decent salad bar when craving my veggies.
Can even pick up a few drugstore essentials (shaving cream, contact lenses solution, toothpaste, etc).Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jack P.Zürich, Schweiz1734119530. Apr. 2013
