I had a bag that I broke the straps on because I use to wear it on one shoulder...instead of throwing it a way I decided to see if I could get it repaired. Garden District Shoe Repair took a couple of days to get it back to new. Since the stitching was intricate on the inside, they offered to hand stitch it for me because the machine wouldn't be able to do it. I will be back and I'm recommending this store to everyone I know!

horrible just look at the pictures. I am so sad. I brought my wedding shoes here to be re-dyed black so that I could wear them again they were done so poorly and so sloppy I can't recommend not going here more emphatically. Horrible horrible. Horrible. I am so sad. These shoes are ruined, and no response. When I reached out for him to fix the situation at this point, I might as well just throw them out because they're just horrendous. He died the soul black with satin dye, which is crazy to do to leather Manolos souls anyways hoping that my reviews at least get a response from him because this is egregious to charge someone for ... I could've done a better job myself honestly. Hoping to save someone from the same fate. Do not bring your shoes here.

I am so happy that I met the owner. He was very patient and knowledgeable. He was also extremely helpful. I enjoyed purchasing an item from his business.

So I was nervous going here after reading a couple of one star reviews, but they may have been from a prior owner because they were several years ago. I was also nervous because he demanded payment upfront, but that may be due to him having to deal with people not ever picking things up here.
He totally performed. He successfully fixed a broken complex boot zipper, and he did it in 24 hrs. Kudos!!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Fleta S.New Orleans, Vereinigte Staaten0126. Nov. 2022

This man is an artist. I apparently walk hard on my heels (like elephant stomps) and I've worn them quite literally down to hollow stumps. In just about an hour, he restored 2 pairs of my most beloved and hideously abused heels/booties. Man of very few words, but his work says it all! So quick, and truly beautiful craftsmanship! I wish I had taken before and after pics. Now, I'm strutting all the way to a Christmas party with shoes I could not have even taken one step in this morning! 5 stars, man. Thank you!!

My best friend took a Vintage Gucci purse (1985) to get the lining restored. This was gifted to her by his girlfriend's late grandmother. He was doing this as a gift for Christmas. He was charged $711 to have the work done. When we arrived, the craftsmanship was horrible. (Look at the pictures) Basically destroyed a sentimental value purse and had no remorse for his work. He refused to acknowledge that it looks totally unprofessional or even decent. The owner proceed to yell and threaten to call the police because we asked for a resolution. (Some sort of refund or re-do the work).
This is totally a disappointment because all the other repair places said they couldn't do it - and he was trusted with his words that it would be handled properly. Below you will see the before and after. Bottom line he didn't do a good job - just glued it back together and stitched it any kind of way. His attitude about the whole thing was appalling. At this point it's a moot issue and he has to move forward with a civil case.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Suzanne C.Decatur, Vereinigte Staaten27432319919. Sept. 2010Erster Beitrag
Let's be perfectly honest: I keep coming back here because Martin's is across the street and snowballs are next door.
My experience with them wasn't stellar, but I blame myself because I brought in a purse strap. The strap arrived broken, but it seemed like an easy fix so I kept the purse. Move to New Orleans, see a shoe repair shop, drop in. Sounds good, ja?
The counterlady is efficient and won't put up with an ounce of your bullshit. She has that look, and I watched her skin a non-paying customer alive. Don't lie to the lady, and don't waste her time. She's not interested. This, I appreciate.
In the three weeks (and three visits) that it took for my strap to be repaired, I saw every make and model of shoes come waltzing through. If stores sell it, they can fix it here. If they can't fix it, they won't waste your time by trying; instead, they'll tell you up-front. (This pisses some people off, but please.)
My boots and my lady's boots will be making a visit for their own set of repairs before too long so I can judge them on their shoe repair. Until then, I wouldn't recommend bringing in purses (leather or no) for repair. They were able to fix my clasp, but it took too long and was more expensive than I thought it should be. Oh well. Cobbler's gotta pay the bills, too.
Accessibility notes: Stairs into the shop. Door sticks. No braille signage. Very loud inside. Small, cramped waiting area.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0
