I first came to Huhnerhaus 36 in May when I was studying abroad in Germany for a month and it was so good that I had to come back! I had the most tender and delicious chicken kabobs I've ever had. They have two amazing dips that pack a ton of flavor. Very affordable, delicious chicken. The rice dish with chick peas is also top rate. The setting is pretty casual as you order at the counter and take a buzzer. Tough to beat! I will be coming back anytime I'm in Berlin.

Some of the best chicken I've had, especially for the price. For 6.50€, you can get incredibly tender and delicious half chicken with freshly made fries. The garlic and spicy sauce are really great, and the house ketchup is much better than the typical Heinz variety. The chicken wings are also incredibly dank, but I would have liked some ranch instead of sweet-chili sauce, but that's personal preference. Amazing food for the price!

I was in Germany for a month and I went here repeatedly I love this place, it is so good. There was a long line and there was no where to sit but it's well worth the wait.

This place is just awesome. I came across it by complete chance while I was actually searching for another place to eat that I found off of Yelp when I saw this small stand-like place with visuals of CHICKEN - very eye-catching. There was a line forming so it definitely looked like it was worth investigating.
Turns out that less than 5 euros get you a combo meal with a HALF chicken - a WHOLE HALF of a chicken and it's all yours!!! The combo includes a side of fries or salad (or if you're REALLY hungry, a slightly pricier combo gives you both).
Just seeing other people eat their meals here made me brave the line and quickly Google the correct way to say, "halbe Hähnchen mit Coca-Cola," which was completely unnecessary since they understand English just fine if you're ordering... You order, pay, and they give you your meal asap before you leave the line - I was so excited to eat it that I broke a tip of my plastic fork when I stabbed the beast of a meat that was the freshly-cooked chicken. Very certain that I will be here once or twice more before I leave Berlin!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kristan H.Cincinnati, Vereinigte Staaten652941029. Apr. 2015
I was visiting Berlin with my two best friends, who actually arrived a half day earlier than me and thus did some exploring without me. When we finally met up, the first thing they did was tell me about this place with "magical chicken," which they were set on bringing me back to. I'm not kidding, they could not stop talking about it.
So we went back, and yes, it was delicious. (Dunno about *magical*... but really really good.) I think it's because this place basically focuses on chicken, so they have become experts in doing it well. The chicken seems to be roasted (or at least that's what we ordered) and it's very fresh, flavorful, and moist. The accompanying sauces are great too. (There's a creamy white one, and a spicy reddish one.) The rice is jazzed up with chickpeas, and even the lettuce is fresh with a nice crunch. Portions are pretty generous, IMO, so bring your appetite.
In terms of vibe, it's pretty casual, but clean. You order at the counter, take a buzzer, find a seat (sharing tables if you have a small party), and wait for your food to be ready. We happened to sit next to this fountain sculpture, which was kind of soothing and nice. There's outdoor seating for nice weather, too. Prices are quite reasonable.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Iain C.Berlin01511. Dez. 2015
You get the food really quickly, the service is top notch. The food was cheap.
The chicken was a little overcooked and the chips weren't that good either. The vegie burger looked really really bad. I would eat there again but I wouldn't seek it out.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sylvia K.Palo Alto, Vereinigte Staaten240326. Apr. 2016
Yes, this is as good as it gets and as fresh as it gets. Hubby and I ventured into Kreuzberg, not sure what to expect and loved the place. It was super casual, you get your food (Chicken!) at the counter and get a number. There isn't a ton of choice (think it terms of In and Out Burger), however, the chicken comes right off the roast, the meat is tasty, the skin is crunchy and oh so well seasoned. I am not a big meat eater and pretty picky, but I would go back to Huehnerhause 36 as soon as I am again in Berlin. Yummy.

Okay, damn. This place is getting a five from me.
This was the first place I ever ate when I came to Berlin. In fact it's the first place I've ever eaten outside of the US; it's the first food I ever spent Euros on. I say this just to indicate that I had been somewhat scared of my first transaction in Germany by the time I came here first, so it had been a long while since I'd eaten. Thus, despite a mix-up that left my plate sitting at the counter for a good 20-25 minutes (equally my fault and theirs), I was unsure if I had starvation bias when I enjoyed what I ate so immensely.
I've now been back for a third time, and I can confirm that it was very, very not starvation bias. This place is freaking good.
I don't really like to eat rotisserie chicken, fried chicken, anything that requires dissembling the chicken and picking through its bones and stuff. Not because I am an American that wants a flavorless white slab that is "meat", but just cause it's messy and it's work. Same reason I don't really like barbecue ribs. I've never really felt like I've enjoyed rotisserie, grilled, or fried chicken, I just eat it cause it's what's being served. But Jesus lord hell, Hühnerhaus takes it for me.
Their chicken is fucking perfect. Sweet lord it's tasty.
7.90 for a half chicken, fries w/mayo and barbecue sauce, salad, an on-table side of pickled vegetables, and a Club Mate? That's great.
They have a light-up buzzer and a number-oriented system for your order, which is preferable to their imbiss across the street. Along with a lightning fast turnover, the seating in this place swings rapidly between insanely full and reasonably empty. They have a million tables outside because they can very easily become totally occupied... So, if you want to go, keep your eye on how big the line is. It can be five people or it can go out the door to the end of the block within a half-hour period. If it's too crazy, just wait a little while and come back. They're open through the middle of the night and you will find the right time to be accommodated for and seated immediately if you go in at the right time.
God, this is what I'm gonna miss most when I leave here. I live across the street from this place. Ugh, I'm jealous of myself.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0
