Been coming here for years now and I love it!
Great place for bands, club nights and buzzing atmosphere.
I saw The Black Byrds and Hypnotic Brass Ensemble there last year....trust me they where awesome!
I also go to the club nights Bruk Up which is a selection of soul, bass and bruk beat DJ's from all over the country plus Birmingham based djs.
Such a good vibe so check it out x

I got to the pub for the Daytime Menu, and I was starving, luckily the Hare and Hounds has a large menu of tasty sandwiches, omelets, pancakes and burgers on hand to stimulate my culinary desires. I tried the recommended Organic Burger £6.50 with chunky chips and side salad. It was a clean plate of food with a healthy sized burger that tasted fresh and wholesome, the way a good burger should be.

It was only until after I had devoured my meal that I noticed the large selections of Ales they have on offer from breweries across the country. My friend indulged in a reasonably priced IPA whilst I had a Coke as I had to drive home.

Well, the car got left outside overnight, I couldn't drive home in the end. Crowds of chain smoking revelers outside were anticipating the arrival of a band at one of the Hares' two live music rooms. I noticed that UB40's first ever gig took place here in 1979 - commemorated recently with a PRS Music Heritage award and plaque - to establishing itself as one of the top small music venues in Birmingham. We were in for a good night!

We had a few more ales and the band came on in the Main Room. The acoustics and smaller intimate feel of the venue put a big smile on my face, so did the band, so did the night. The Hare and Hounds is definitely the place to visit.

This is a contender for my favourite venue in Birmingham. I have to say I had one of the best nights out ever here this weekend.

The venue itself is an old pub with a very 'classic' looking exterior. Downstairs you will find a couple of beautifully designed bar rooms serving a great selection of beers, wines and spirits....but for the the real star of the show are the upstairs spaces. There are two rooms in the upstairs of the venue that regularly host a selection of the best djs and bands you can see anywhere. From hip hop to house through jazz, funk and soul every genre is catered to! There is usually a door charge for both rooms upstairs but it is so worth it.

I went to see Joe Goddard here on Saturday night and it was just stupidly good. The lighting, the sound, the crowd and the vibe were all just perfect. If you have not been to a show here yet....do it!.....ASAP!

I bloody LOVE the Hare and Hounds. A glorious old boozer, if you didn't about what goes on in here you might just think of it as another charismatic pub. It is much more than that!

A traditional and charming pub downstairs with two rooms, it is a great place to meet friends for a "chilled" weekday drink or come to one of the nights they have at the weekends. The music is always fantastic and it draws a great crowd. The upstairs is where the magic happens. Two rooms, a large and a smaller host some of the best DJ's and bands around. I have lost count of the world class DJ's i have lost it to up here! The Hare always supports local talent too.

It is easily accessible even if you're not from the area with it being on the High St. People from far and wide know of the Hare and it is a true gem of Birmingham.

There are many great venues in Kings Heath, but one that often comes up in conversation is the Hare and Hounds. This is not just a great little pub, but a bustling music venue that covers a huge range of genres (it can be forgiven for the blue plaque stating "UB40 played here").

Easy to get to on the number 50 bus and with plenty of on-street parking (if you're not drinking, of course) available, it's well located on Kings Heath High Street. Like so many of the great venues in Birmingham, the exterior is smart and well kept (giving off a "traditional village pub" vibe). The interior isn't hipster, but rather twee and portraying a feel of antiquity. There are comfy booths and plentiful tables and chairs, but this venue can get very busy due to it's reputation and collection of fiercely loyal regulars.

It has a smoking area just off the street (at the side of the pub on York Road), which is a great place to start chatting with the other frequenters. Last Friday we ended up having great conversations with total strangers about the cost of the Bloody Mary in London and Don Letts (who is due to be appearing at the venue soon).

As with so many of the bars in this "up and coming" area, a drink aint cheap. It certainly isn't as bad as some Central bars - but you are looking over £3 a pint .It was £1.90 a half of guinness (rather than £1.80 as previously stated), making a full pint of the black stuff £3.90. A double vodka and tonic was north of £5. That being said, I still believe the venue is worthy of 4* (for it's fantastic atmosphere and well kept decor).

If you are a keen Muso, I would recommend regularly checking the listings. There are some really great events being put on right through the year with big and small names rocking the H&H. If you're in Kings Heath, I recommend this as a bar to check out - but being based on the High Street and York Road; you are spoiled for choice in this area.

Once again I'm surprised I haven' reviewed this place before! I have been upstairs several times to see bands and when my friends have hired out the function room for party's. I've also been here on NYE and loved the atmosphere!
It's quite a large pub situational ion a busy high street. The front bar is fairly traditional in decor and what you might expect from a local pub. Nevertheless the is a young vibe about the place and the quirky refurb in the back bar shows they aren't just catering for one particular clientele. I have never been during the day, but there is always a fun crowd in the evening.

Weirdly, I've only been here once.I visited for one of their kitchen takeovers. The fact that they do this makes me love them already. They had a whole series of street food vendors in and we were there on the Caribou Poutine night. The tickets were only £10 for two courses.

When we arrived, there were two events going on- ours in the back room and another upstairs. They have gigs and all sorts going on. We went for a drink in the main bar first. I had a lovely cider and we sat on high stalls having a chat. There's a friendly atmosphere and plenty of seating.

The back room where our event was was really lovely. It had a completely different feel to the main bar, with amazing art painted on the walls, much lighter and brighter too.

Our food was good but that was down to Caribou Poutine. There was a smaller bar in the back room but with plenty of decent spirirts such as Absolut Kurant which I haven't seen for years and Goslings Black Seal Rum. Prices were around £4.50 which is what I would expect.

I'll definitely be back to check out another kitchen takeover or for a drink.

Hare and Hounds street closure in conjunction with Digbeth Dining Club.

I have been to a few of these events now and have always had a great time. This was definitely one of the busier ones thanks to the great weather. There were a wide number of food vendors to choose from, as well as a selection of stalls selling arts and crafts.

One of the best things about this event is how the other local businesses get involved. Bars were available at Hare & Hounds, Fletchers and Kitchen Garden café. Cherry Reds were open for their usual lunchtime treats and snacks, and I want One of Those were there to satisfy those cravings for nostalgia.

We arrived at the event just before 3pm , with our two year old in tow. The event had started at 11am so by the time we arrived it was packed. However, we managed to find a fairly quiet area to stand with friends.

By the time we were ready to eat, around 5pm, many of the vendors had sold out of their popular dishes. However, this was to be expected and I certainly wouldn't hold this against anyone.

As usual, there was a high demand for toilets but with so many businesses opening their doors to revellers this was not so much of a problem as it is for some other events.

My only negative would be that this event does not offer much for kids.

      I LIVED!!
Sunday night was my first time visiting and I'm already looking for the next night to go to here. I didn't know what to expect when we decided to go here but I was ridiculously impressed. The venue was perfect for what I wanted for a night out and all night dancing. and drinks were reasonably priced. The atmosphere was brilliant and I just wanna relive it. The room up stairs was packed and hot but it did not put me off we did not want it to end. Such a great night I look forward to the next to one.

Been here many times on payday straight after work and it's a really nice place, pretty huge, nicely decorated and got some decent beers on but my main thing with it is the prices of the drinks, they are just that little too much to come here over all the great pubs in both Moseley and Kings Heath.

The bar staff are friendly and helpful, with one of them recommending a drink to my girlfriend (rhubarb vodka and apple juice) which is something she now looks for everywhere else.

I've also heard different stories about there being quite a bit of trouble here and seen it first hand with glasses being thrown and there being a fight but it's a pub and the place gets really busy on the weekend so it's to be expected really. There are plenty of places in the local area which don't seem to have such a hostile atmosphere at times but it's not a major drawback.

But really it's famous for its music having everything from up and comers to some big people for a pub of its size. This takes place upstairs where I haven't been nor have I been to any of the gigs but from its reputation it seems to be a great place for live music. My sister has seen an up and coming Ed Sheeran here, Ellie Gouldings been there and recently Mike skinner form The Streets which is the only gig here I've tried to get tickets for, they sold out really really fast!

I only know this place as somewhere to drink, had I been to some of their gigs I might rate it higher but the prices are what stop me coming back on a regular basis. For anyone that loves up and coming acts though it sounds like the place to go.
