InterContinental Frankfurt

Sad to say, but the stay here was a disappointment and they were not very accommodating.

Our flight into Frankfurt arrived at 0745 and we were at the hotel by 0930. Yes, we were definitely early since check-in is at 1500. We were really jet lagged and needed some rest. The reception was very slow, painfully slow. When we asked if we could check in early, we were told we would be charged. Since we were dragging, we agreed. So, when we got to our roo, at 1000, we were charged 150 euro for the 5 hours extra. Are you fricken kidding me?? Talk about taking advantage of travelers!

The room resembled a Holiday Inn. Not that there is anything wrong with a Holiday Inn, but when we are staying in a "luxury" hotel, I would expect more. The bathroom was super tiny, with the toilet, sink and tub crowded into one sad room. As someone else had mentioned, the ceiling is quite low. A tall man would have to duck. Seemed odd since Germans are known for their height.

The bed was ok, the pillows were flat and lifeless. The carpet was old, looked like from the 1970s. The room was hot, even with the air conditioner turned full blast. And yes, it was cold outside! We finally opened the window. Unfortunately, even on the 18th floor, we could hear the sirens constantly blowing from police and ambulances. Keep this in mind if you are wanting a relaxing stay.

The positives: the view of the river Main was beautiful. It was located on the trail and a quick walk to the markets. The room was clean and housekeeping did a great job- kudos to them. And the concierge was friendly and helpful.

Take me back to the 1970's - Small room, outdated rooms, squeaky bed.

Completely disappointing, took 15 minutes to check in and I was the only one in line. Sitting on the bed now and writing this review, I just keep sinking and sinking, crappy mattress.

No in room AC (air conditioner). Only an air blower but no proper air conditioner.

There is no high speed internet- as a guest you have the option for free internet at 5mps or high speed that you have to pay extra for.

The room was so bad I went to reception and paid more to change my room.
This room is no better.

Please renovate. Please make improvements and modernize. Please have correct and accurate room descriptions. It is a real pity that with such a beautiful view, this hotel could have had so much potential. No go - NEVER staying here again!

Big disappointment the room was outdated they call it intercontinental club room ,the only good thing is was the view from the top
To the river .Iwas calling the front desk about the room is warm and they said they will send technician ,after 50 min had to called them again and looks like the previous person didn't called no one to our room to fix the problem.when the technician came to our room he said it's normal and he can't do anything at this moment he said it's will get colder later but when we came back I the evening the room was even warmer and had some strange smell from the toilet.This property falls very far from the intercontinental standards I used to..also if you have any higher status with IHG or ambassador don't even bother they will treat you the same way like the regular customer .Thank you Intercontinental Frankfurt for a sleepless night ..:(

Enjoyed staying at the Intercontinental while attending ACHEMA 2018. Remodeling was happening on the river side of the building and some complained of noise. I never heard a sound. The breakfast buffet was a highlight. The hotel staff was warm, accommodating and extremely helpful. The room was a little stuffy and humid. There was not much help from the AC and no control that I could discover. So it was a little uncomfortable on my first night when it had been about 80 degrees during the day. But overall I gave this about 3.75 stars and rounded up to 4.

Nice lobby, good gym, nice bar. Did not eat at the hotel. Room was ok. Bathroom was small. Bed was horribly hard. Woke up several times while sleeping sore from the bed. Room was semi clean and neat.

A bit old fashion / tired interior design, kind of antique; but all in all good.
With special rate you can get Internet and breakfast included.
Otherwise it s ridiculous to pay 20eur a day for Internet in 2013. Same goes for the breakfast, especially in an area with so many options
Room is large enough, clean, bed are very soft( too old?). Damn, they still have TVs from the 90's!?
Breakfast is gigantic and anyone can find something to enjoy
Gym is huge and well equipped for a hotel

This simply is a hotel that needs an impulse! The location is great but one simply notices the fact that they need a refurbishment (exterior and interior). The lobby looks friendly and one does feel welcome but it does not represent a luxury ambiance.

The event I attended was good but service wise there is a lot to improve and one could notice no manager was around to guide and host this event. In regards to food and beverage, all was fine! Nice wines are served and the food was tasteful.

I will go back there for the restaurant to try it out.

Guess there are better places to go in Frankfurt and in that area...

Recently stayed here for business. The hotel was clean and definitely caters to business clientele. The food was good, but over priced. The rooms were clean and the staff was accommodating. Not that I watched much TV, but really who still has tube TVs. The Internet service was great in the lobby but spotty int he rooms.

I don't have anything truly negative to say about the hotel....just don't think it is anything that inspires me to rate it any higher than 2-2 1/2 stars.

Excellent service and staff. Very professional as well which I always appreciate. I asked if I could leave a bag with the as I was travelling to Africa for 6 weeks last time, they kindly informed me normal practice was 2 weeks but they would make an exception. Great customer service.

If you haven't stayed at this hotel, it's old. Not historically neat old either, just in need of some renovations old. Intercontinental is suppose to be a flagship hotel for IHG, but instead of gutting this building they (IHG) opted to break ground and build another Holiday Inn near the Alte Oper which is newer and very nice in comparison. As I walked down the halls after my less than stellar reception (my first "Ambassador" experience seems pretty lame and not worth it), I started critiquing this bad boy pretty hard. Water damage is visible in the halls, I poked at a few spots to confirm, finger prints on maintenance hatches, the halls and room have a stale aroma as if the air just doesn't circulate well. I have this weird analog thermostat in my room which is no help either, how do you make it warmer or colder!?!? The saving grace and only reason I give this hotel 3 stars is the staff... not so much the reception as I had a limited experience with them while sitting in the lobby for over an hour waiting on a room, and being eyeballed by security the whole time like I am going to steal a seat cushion. The restaurant staff is incredible and efficient along with the gentleman outside, the vallet. I really am sorry as I am horrible with new names, but these people are the only reason I didn't booked somewhere else. They where friendly and inviting, just down right enjoyable people to talk to and converse with in passing. All-in-all, I would say this hotel is good if you can't get a reservation at another property.
