How long is the walk to Disneyland? GPS says 12 minutes. Is this accurate?

      A:

depending if you have kids or not its about a mile and a half and 20 minutes hopefully. Also hotel menage has a bus service you can buy the tickets at the counter when checking in. There not a lot and well worth it.

I did not check the reviews for this hotel until the day before we got here and was kinda freaking out about all the recent bad ones. I was really expecting the worst. But... I was pleasantly surprised.
Apparently we got a recently remodeled king room and it was rather nice.
The bed was pretty comfy but I was so dang tired after Disney all day I could of slept on the floor.
Nice down comforters and pillows. The room was very clean.
No microwave but there was a fridge.
There is also a safe. Nice.
The staff was pretty nice as far as I can tell. Didn't eat the food here so not sure about that. The 24 hr pool looked inviting but I didn't use it. Again tired after Disney.
The shower was clean and updated. comes with shampoo, conditioner and shower soap in dispensers. I preferred my own though.
      Overall nice experience.

Are you planning a trip to visit the most magical place on earth?! How about plan a trip to visit the most magical receptionist on earth!!! His name is MIKE and Hotel Menage is lucky to have him!
I've stayed at many niiiice hotels in my life and never has a hotel went so above and beyond for me, I was very blown away..
At check in, Mike was so sweet and answered all my question and in conversation I informed him it was my friends birthday. He upgraded our room to his favorite (excellent view of their gorgeous pool and FIREWORKS from the park, so beautiful)
He even sent up a tray of champagne, strawberries and beautiful glasses as a surprise to our room.
"Magic Mike" truly puts the magic in the magic kingdom!
We will definitely skip all the other fancier hotels in the area just to visit our new friend at the front desk!! :)

      Birthday Champagne Surprise!!

As a Starwood preferred guest hotel I was expecting this hotel to be a 5 star hotel. Almost all of the hotels I have encountered that are tied with Starwood preferred guest membership are 5 star but this absolutely did not deliver for me.

Upon checking in, I had this hotel already booked a month in advanced based on my membership with Amex spg. My total was set to be 145$ which included my special rate and everything. So this was what I was expecting to pay at check in, but was surprised when the charged me 181$ plus 12$ for parking. I wasn't too concerned and was very tired from the long drive from san diego so I payed it all in cash.

My room was decent. But not work almost 200$. The beds were nice decorated but the bathroom could use alot of work. Paint chipping off the walls, and rust around the drain of the shower. Also the vanity in the bathroom was wooden and chipping. The TV controller did not work and called the front desk to have someone fix it and no one showed up or bothered to call to see if the problem was fixed. After 3 attempts with the front desk I decided to go out and take my daughter to the pool since we could not watch TV. I asked the last front desk person i spoke with regarding the tv controller what time the pool closed and where it was located and at least got a positive response. So I headed to the pool....

The pool area was beautiful and very tropical. Nice cabanas to sit under and a jacuzzi that did not get hott. It had a sign posted that read out of service...ok, I was kind of mad because I was looking forward to the jacuzzi but there's still the pool right?...Not for long. My daughter and I were in the pool maybe 30 mins and a lady I'm guessing the Mgr walked out and asked what I was doing in the pool because it was closed.... Fast forward to my last paragraph. I did contact the front desk prior and asked about the pool, nobody said it was closed. I explained this to Mgr and she said maybe people don't know but we are remodeling the pool. Ughhh ok so I'm out of the pool, no TV, no jacuzzi, wtf?

Grand Finale.....So I stayed my one night without tv, and was checking out. I'm thinking I'm just going to drop off the key and be on my way. No...not at hotel menage...the front desk asks me how do I want to pay for my parking which I already payed for upon check in....Now I'm pissed! I argued with the front desk lady for about 29 mins. I even showed her a receipt that was emailed to me when I payed and still they supposedly had no records of me paying for parking. Parking was only 12$ so I just payed it and chalked it up to a loss. This hotel only gets 2 stars because it's 4 mins away from Disneyland. Other than that I would recommend spg take this off there hotel affiliate list ASAP.

Let me start with the positives: the lobby is nice enough, in a lodge kind of way. The staff was friendly. They have a restaurant open until 10:30pm.

Now let me qualify the positives: the lobby is all that has been renovated as far as I could see when I stayed at Hotel Menage this past weekend. It was a cold weekend and the heat in the lobby was broken and it was freezing cold. The staff said "engineering was working on it". The restaurant is just a continuation of the lobby, so dinner was a chilly experience.

The dinner served for our party was okay to good.

Now the bad: when you exit the elevator to go to your room, you may find yourself surprised to be outside. On a catwalk. Like a cheap motel, which Hotel Menage was and, I'm sorry for this, but still is. Except it's moderately expensive to the tune of $202 for a one-night stay.

Take a look at the pictures from my room. The bathroom sink is in the room, not in the bathroom. That's not a big deal. The disgusting bathroom is a bigger deal. It was gross with mold and peeling paint (lead no doubt, so the kiddies can snack). The beds were ok, we slept well so I can't complain about that. But the room was just run down. The solitary chair looked like it came from a sidewalk with a "Free" sign on it.

Unless or until Hotel Menage makes massive upgrades, this place is a dump and you should stay away. Oh, and you have to pay to park here, $11 self parking or $12 valet parking.

I wanted to update my review and say that the customer service is very friendly. I also slept well, well until I woke up and realized I had sunk into the bed. It was as someone held me all night. The vibe in the lobby is very energetic.

If your looking for something more on the lines of what SPG offers you may want to wait until they complete renovations.

Just checked into today. The first thing I noticed was that all rooms are only accessible from outside much like a motel. I walk into my room and am welcomed by the wonderful aroma of stinky carpet, like fugas or feet.

The bathroom consist of a toilet and shower, the sink is outside and can be seen from the living quarters. The closet is makeshift.

This hotel really reminds me of Rodeway inn with a added amenity of parking $14 per day or valet $16 a day.

It's not what I would expect from a SPG property. If you normally stay on SPG properties my advice is to not book here, well at least until they upgrade or remodel.

Stayed here for a work convention and had an okay stay.

The lobby area is really cute and rustic, and it always has this smell... I don't know how to explain it, but it smells GOOD. Right off the lobby is the outdoor bar and pool. The bar is Hawaiian themed and really cute, while the pool is pretty much a basic outdoor pool.

From the bar/pool area, you have a clear view of the Disney fireworks show. Definitely my favorite part about Hotel Menage.

The rooms are pretty spacious, which was nice. The bed was a little on the uncomfortable side, and the shower is way confusing to figure out at first. My biggest complaint about our room, and staying here in general, is that our room was facing the street and every morning around 6:30-7:00 am, we were woken up by people yelling out in the street, garbage trucks, or loud banging. Literally every morning.

The location is pretty convenient, as it's a ten minute walk from Downtown Disney, right across the street from two gas stations, and also has a Starbucks about a three minute walk away.

All in all, it's not a bad hotel to stay at, but maybe request to see a map of the rooms before you do anything else.

      Fireworks from the pool.

      Omg go somewhere else!
This is a run-down mess! The Sheraton is taking over but no one told us when we booked so it is a construction zone. The sheets were changed with stained dirty sheets. I had to complain to management not once but TWICE!! They gave me $125 in room credits. Tried to use it for room service....no menu in the room of course. When we finally got one & called we waited on hold for 10 minutes before giving up. Went downstairs to eat and waited another 20 minutes....unreal! Finally had to just ask for our food to go.

The pics on the web site do not reflect what the rooms look like at all. No microwaves by the way, no vending machines either. The front lobby smells like ass...literally. They have what appears to be a place to get coffee in the morning....nope it's never open.

The pool area is nice but there are bees everywhere. The showers don't work, towels are the size of hand towels. The hot tub is disgusting!! Nothing but foam and dirty water. The pool side bar is only open 3pm to 9pm....if you can find the bartender that is.

Seriously hope the Sheraton cleans this place up & hires some friendly staff that actually DO change the sheets!

      Stained sheets
Same stained sheets they didn't change...disgusting!

Despite the putrid exterior color of the place, (a color something akin to baby $hit), the place is pretty cool.

The rooms our group had reserved were clean, spacious and totally functional. The staff at the front desk, valet and the bars (both the inside and outside bar) were extremely friendly, courteous and helpful.

Now... Speaking of the bars. There is an outdoor bar that is adjacent to the pool area that'll serve you up some pretty decent grub, pour you a stiff drink and tap you out with a good beer or two, (our four, or six... Not sure how many, lol).

That particular spot is a great viewing area for the Disneyland fireworks as well. While they obviously aren't "synchronized" like they are inside the park, I think the viewing is every bit as good if not better than what you get inside DLand!!! There is also a 24 hour pool for guests to enjoy.

If I had a gripe or two, it would be that the parking is not free to guests (~$15/nite), and the outdoor bar closes a tad too early, but I suppose in our case, that was a good thing based solely on our consumption levels.

First off, this is a MOTEL, not a hotel. Our room's door was outside and faced the street. But let's back up and start from the beginning...

Pulled up in the car to see:
      -Self Parking $14
      -Valet Parking $16
Really? You're going to charge me $14 to park at the MOTEL that I paid to have a room at? So ridiculous. And it's only 2 bucks more to valet? So weird.

Walked inside to check in and stood in a line about 3 parties long for approximately 20 minutes. When we were finally helped, they guy was new and didn't know much of the information we asked him about...

-First, he told us that the outside bar was already closed, when in fact it was still open for another hour.

-Second, he told us that they offer room service! OMG really?!?!?! . If you're excited about the fact that you offer room service then there is something very, very wrong. This was a huge red flag.

      - Finally, we were informed that if we wanted a shuttle to the park, there was a kiosk in the lobby where we had to pay $5.50 per person, and get this, the kiosk only accepts cash AND required exact change! Exact change for $5.50? You're seriously trying to nickel and dime people by stealing their $.50??? Not to mention the shuttle should be complementary like most of the other hotels in the area. FAIL. Just walk instead. It's about a mile, 20 minutes on foot and it's a straight shot. Easy.

Ok, on to the room. At first glance, the room was pretty nice. It had obviously been recently remodeled. Mostly new furniture, etc. (See pictures) Also, the blackout shades were a great thing to have and blocked 100% of the light out. Nice job there. However, at second glance (and every subsequent glance) it was clear that they had just done a quick, cheap "facelift", and they did a half-assed job for the most part.

      - Bathroom was untouched by the "remodel". Toilet is the size of a lifesaver and the entire bathroom from floor to ceiling is 15+ years old.

      - You have to get the soap, shampoo and conditioner out of dispensers on the wall of the shower like some kind of lab rat sucking water out of his upside down ballpoint water bottle. MOTEL.

      - Bathroom mirror frame was just old trim pieces that had been painted black (by someone who didn't know how to paint). Looked awful and cheap.

      - Bathroom counter was old, badly stained, scratched and gouged. (See picture)

      - Bathroom door was old, decaying and needed to be replaced badly, but they just painted over it. Looked horrible. (See picture)

      - Poor job on some of the new fixtures, particularly the toilet paper holder which was literally about to fall off the wall. (See picture)

      - The A/C was a "swamp cooler" from the 1500's. (See pictures) A hideous piece of ancient history protruding from under the window. A constant reminder of how we had been duped into believing this was a nice hotel.

      - Beds we're comfortable enough and the room seemed generally clean with the exception of the bathroom wall that had what looked like poo or something smeared on it. Didn't take a picture of that. You're welcome.

Tiki bar and pool area were brand new and pretty nice, in a cheesy, cheap motel kind of way.

The bar experience went like this:

      - Bartender was super nice. He was the best part of our stay. Wish I remembered his name.

      - We looked at the drink menu which had the usual, beer, cocktails, red and white wine. My wife ordered a glass of red wine. "Sorry we don't carry the red wine out here." Uh...then why the $%#! is it on the menu out here? Ok, fine she orders a glass of white wine. "Oh we don't have that one right now." $#%!... Ok what do you have out here? "We have this bottle of white but it's not on the menu." Wtf? Holy shiz guys get your act together!!!

The fireworks from Disneyland are almost directly overhead here and are extremely loud. Scared the hell out of us when the first ones went off. Thought someone got shot. Was very cool to watch from so close. Finished our drinks and went to bed.

      Breakfast the next morning:

      - Came downstairs to find a super cheap buffet set up with no hostess, no staff in sight. Whatever we'll just roll in... There was nasty, watery hotel scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, breakfast potatoes, bread, bagels, and cereal. That's it. No option to order real food off a menu. Pretty epic disappointment. At least the sausage, bacon and potatoes were good.

We left after breakfast and put this place in our rear-view. My recommendation would be to steer clear of this place. They are clearly making an effort to improve the hotel, but they're doing it oh so wrong. And, in the process, they are falsely advertising this as something it is not.

This is an upscale MOTEL or a very cheap HOTEL at best. If this is what you're looking for then you'll probably be fine. But if you want something better than the equivalent of a run-of-the-mill, side of the road motel/hotel then you will be quickly and thoroughly disappointed.

This is a decent option if you're staying in the Disneyland area and can't get into one of the closer or higher end hotels. I stayed here this week as I was in town for a conference at the Anaheim Convention Center. It's about a mile and a half north of the ACC (10-30 minutes by cab/shuttle depending on traffic).

You can walk to Disneyland in about 25 minutes from the hotel, and there are regular Anaheim Resort Transportation (ART) shuttles that take just a few minutes and are priced reasonably at $5.50 per adult, $1 for kids (children under 2 free).

The amenities are what you'd expect for a hotel priced at $185 per night ($218.70 per night after they tack on 4 or 5 taxes). My room was clean, spacious with lots of storage, had a safe, fridge and coffee machine, and was serviced adequately during my 4-day 3-night stay.

Three key features to note -
      (1) Every night around 9:30, the fireworks at Disneyland go off for about 20 minutes. I loved this, but it was LOUD. The fireworks staging area is right across the freeway onto which the hotel backs up. The rooms are quite soundproof so I couldn't hear the freeway but I DID hear the fireworks. If you think the fireworks (or freeway noise) would irk you, let hotel management know in advance so they can get you a different room. I asked to change rooms and they obliged without any fuss.
      (2) There is an excellent restaurant on the premises - Tru Grits. I ate there all three evenings --- it was that good! They also offer a breakfast buffet for about $13 - seemed popular but I didn't eat there as I had to go to the conference. There is also an outdoor bar called Palapa which shares the Tru Grits kitchen (I'm writing separate reviews for both these restaurants).
      (3) Parking is plentiful and cheap; I noticed most patrons chose to valet park (I think it is $10 a day), though I didn't need to as I didn't have a car.

The Ménage hotel is being taken over by the Sheraton group, and there were several signs of this during my stay. For example, they asked for my SPG rewards number, and the towels said Sheraton. But a lot of the other signage said Ménage. Didn't matter - it is a decent place to stay no matter what they call it.
