Heard about this through a Facebook group. Glad to have tried is. Their broth is so silky smooth. Their eggs aren't soft boiled or soaked in seasoning but they are still good. The roasted onions leave a great after taste and the chasu in the shoyu base was so so tasty. It gets a little warm in the small shop and they can't serve a lot at one time as they are really small but what they do serve is really really good.

What used to be an amazing gem has since changed ownership, and the newer version falls far short of impressive...
My wife and I used to come here on date nights to enjoy an okonomoyaki menu (soup, salad and okonomoyaki), Udon, and some killer sushi. Tonight we thought it was time to pay another visit, so we made a reservation because they're usually packed on Fridays. Well, tonight we walk in to two other groups sitting. We should have walked out then and there.
After a good five minutes reviewing the menu, searching for our favorites, we finally asked. "Where's the Okonomoyaki?" Turns out, the restaurant's under new management, but keeping the same name. The new menu basically has a handfull of appetizers, and as it turns out, lower quality versions of the old sushi menu. Dissapointing to say the least.
For some reason, we still give the place a shot. It could be good, right? Wrong! I get tuna and spicy tuna. The tuna's okay...pretty standard, while the spicy tuna's a tuna avocado roll, served with a dipping bowl of spicy sauce. Even worse, this tuna looks like it's been out for a while. A €50 lesson learned here, hopefully not just for me. Don't bother, hit up another Sushi joint instead.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Stephanie N.Springfield, Vereinigte Staaten1246718. Went here with a group of friends because we thought this was "new". Turns out they have been here for 3 yrs!!! The restaurant is small but was able to accommodate 11 of us, it is located in Hotel Alcatraz which is pretty cool looking. There are bars everywhere like a real prision. The waitress we had was excellent, able to fulfill all of our crazy requests...more kimchee, no mayo etc.
The food was delicious!!! Alot of sushi options, all fresh tasting and prepared per order, you can see the sushi being made in the kitchen. Not too many "cooked" options, Udon noodles and teriyaki. The kimchee was a perfect combination of spice and flavor, not briny or supersalty. The miso soup was very flavorful as well, again not salty and you drink straight out of the bowl.
Great dessert options as well! Highly recommend it, price is reasonable. Don't waste your time with Kahori, come here instead!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Will P.Newport, Berlin Charter Township, Vereinigte Staaten121619. Apr. 2019
Probably the best sushi you can get around here. Great little place. Highly recommend.

This is the only AUTHENTIC Japanese sushi chef owned and operated sushi restaurant in K-Town. One star deducted, as being from NYC and living in
CA, I've had better sushi elsewhere, but this is the only place to go to for REAL sushi (not rolls) in K-Town.
Everyone who complained on this review about the limited selection of fish, and especially the overly Americanized versions of various non authentic
rolls, should not be eating at this restaurant but maybe an all you can eat or the conveyor belt sushi place, as Original Japanese sushi has very limited selection of rolls. Sushi chef also picks the best and the freshest fish for that specific day, so the selection of fish may not be the same everyday either.
Keep this in mind and you will be able to differentiate the wanna be Sushi restaurant, to an Authentic Sushi restaurant.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aaron C.City of Manassas, Vereinigte Staaten6331414. Sept. 2016
Completely overrated really.
Roll selection was disappointing, service was slow and spotty.
Fish quality was great, but if you don't have imaginative dishes with surprising flavors and creative presentation then fish quality only goes so far.
Try Mr Lian's instead.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Tobi D.Kaiserslautern, Rheinland-Pfalz06314. Nov. 2017
Great quality, authentic Japanese food.
Good value, great taste. Overall small place with limited tables, better make a reservation. Inside an old prison, interesting setting, nice owner and staff.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Macy E.Kaiserslautern, Rheinland-Pfalz23847245. Apr. 2016
So far, this is the best sushi I have discovered in KL. The restaurant itself is inside the hotel, but there is a sign from the street making it a little easier to find. The place is SMALL. I would imagine there are no more than 12 tables, so be sure to make a reservation.
This is the most expensive meal I have had in KL by far. The prices are fairly normal for larger cities, but I think they may be gauging the tiny market here. Never have my husband and I spent more than 100€ on a meal here until we went to Ayame. However, the food and sake were almost worth it.
The sushi is fresh and proportioned well. We both ordered the set menus and happily made our way through the courses. However, if you weren't too hungry, you could easily split one of the menus between two people.
Overall, we had a great time. You can see the owners preparing the food while you are waiting/eating. Everything is very authentic. I'm looking forward to the next night we treat ourselves to Ayame.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Perchuhy K.Kaiserslautern, Rheinland-Pfalz530588. Mai 2016
I heard great things about the place and wanted to love it but was disappointed...
Sushi itself was fresh and tasted great but nothing special - and that was the pro side of things.
Cons: very simple menu with extremely limited variety. The service was pretty slow and they would often mix up/forget orders. We went there with another couple and we all had to eat at odd times separate from each other because the food didn't arrive together. Didn't even have soy sauce on the table, you had to keep asking for it.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
