Kanchi

This restaurant was close to our hotel while visiting Lucerne from the U.S. The food was excellent as was the service. Our waiter was friendly and helpful with suggestions when we asked. My family thoroughly enjoyed our meal. A truly delicious and authentic Indian restaurant with outstanding staff.

Great service. Food was decent. Pricing is expected for its location to old town. Only tried the biryani but the rest of the menu looked very good and will definitely be back to try out the lunch menu.

There was a good mix of customers there for a mid week evening and the servers were very attentive to all guests.

I should have suspected something was wrong when I saw all the English language reviews were bad, while the German ones were 5-star.

First up, CHF 37 for chicken tikka masala. Seriously? Fortunately, vegetarians are only charged CHF 23, so I opted for the veggie jalfrezi. The dish was nicely spicey and came with many vegetables, but was just not so tasty. The naan was also too thin and crispy (imagine a cross between a regular naan and popadom).

I'm used to a 50% markup over US prices, but this is extreme. With more reasonably prices I would have given it 3 stars.

P.S. Weirdly, I was the only non-Indian inside. Perhaps there are not many options for the local Indian population.

Had tasty vegetarian food with family. Prices are comparable to other cuisines for dinner in that area. Service is on the average side - they should focus more on that to improve overall customer experience.

We went quite early for lunch. I had heavy breakfast just an hour ago so I was in no mood to eat. My wife wanted to try Sada Dosa (South Indian dish).

Dosa was quite average. We ordered tomato soup and shared it. I never had so tasty tomato soup in my life before! In fact we wanted to go again for dinner too.

We found this place on our last day in Switzerland. Otherwise we might have ate there daily.

They also have a very nice lunch buffet. I think that is not on menu but you can ask for it. The buffet looked so tasty that I regretted having heavy breakfast.

One of the worst Indian Restaurant. Lacks proper hygiene, very poor attitude and shoddy service. The food was not cooked properly and most of the items lacked flavor or spice. All In all one of the worst and I would strongly advice to avoid this restaurant if you are in Lucern area. I would not even rate this restaurant as 1 star.

Me and my wife ordered Indian thali (which costs 37USD per plate) and received the most disinterested service and ordinary tasting food in Switzerland. They every wanted to charge us for pickles!! How many of you have ordered southindian thali and then told to order pickles separately?

We paid $75 for that dinner and felt completely ripped off.

How do you have a name like Kanchi and mess up the idli, vada, sambar and chutney? The idli was not soft; vada was hard, sambar and chutney were tasteless.

Food is overpriced, service really poor, no taste.

The restaurant itself is very nice - loved the atmosphere and decorations. It is pretty traditional and actually quite large with a good view. I'm giving it three stars because we were underwhelmed with the food and the service. Maybe it was because how busy they were that night but still.
