Don't go for lunch. Haven't been here for dinner, but the lunch was terrible so I will not be back.
Dry rice, poorly cut sushi, imitation crab, sad looking presentation, the miso broth is alright.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aubergine P.Nordrhein-Westfalen0356018. Juli 2015
Kugelfisch is a small Japanese restaurant located at the center of Poppelsdorf, which is easily accessible from the city center. The atmosphere is always nice, the staff is always kind and friendly, and the restaurant is always hygienic, especially its "mysterious-looking" restroom. :)
Based on my "all-you-can-eat" experiences, I can say that Kugelfisch is not the best spot to have sushi in town but is serving decent sushi for a not-so-reasonable price. The "all-you-can-eat" option costs about 14 Euros and includes a cup of green tea, unlimited sushi and miso soup. Miso soup tastes good, so does the green tea. Yet, I believe Kugelfisch has a consistency problem when it comes to sushi. The rice is sometimes soggy and sticky, sometimes it is not. Sometimes salmon tastes super, sometimes it tastes sticky as if someone licked the salmon beforehand. Sometimes the octopus is super soft, sometimes it is chewy. Sometimes tuna is like butter, sometimes it is as hard as a rock. I should also note that the quality of vegetarian sushis is lower compared to others. I believe this problem should be addressed ASAP if Kugelfisch wants to have a group of loyal customers.
Overall, I recommend Kugelfisch if you'd like to have unlimited and standard sushi in a nice, friendly and cozy atmosphere. I am sure you will leave the place happy if you keep your expectations about the quality of sushi low and accept the fact it's after all the best "all-you-can-eat" quality you can never find somewhere else in Bonn. :)Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Qype User (kidmif…)Köln, Nordrhein-Westfalen2623412. We went here on a Thursday night for a nice dinner. Although my friend had picked it based on the fact he thought that it looked like a nice resteraunt on the website, we soon realised it was a more casual dining environment, but cosy, clean and welcoming all the same. It was a busy little resteraunt full of other small groups like us who were looking for a nice night out in the middle of the week.
The service was great, with the waiter addressing me and my german friend in our native languages (he had obviously notices as he did it unprompted), and made sure we were ok for drinks and food all night.
The food was great; it was fresh, tasty and well prepared. To be honest I would have been happy sitting there all night drinking warm sake and wasabi peasbut I ordered the wellness platter, and the salmon sushami was absolutly the highlight of the meal for me. The california rolls my friend had were a little below the rest of the meal, but still damn good sushi in its own right. My only regret was that I didnt try the green tea icecream for dessert!
Its a lovely little resteraunt and next time I am in Bonn and looking for sushi I will sure to return to Kugelfisch for some more of their sushi (and icecream). Definitly some of the best asian food ive had since Ive moved to Europe, and it converted my friend who was till then a sushi virgin over to the fishy side lol.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Cosmin R.Bonn, Nordrhein-Westfalen24362328.
