We worked up an appetite from walking the snow so we started to head to our fave Chinese spot. To our dismay, it was closed!
Time for Plan B!
We wandered around and stumbled into this cute trattoria. We peeked inside and saw that the place was full. That's a good sign right? We decided to try it out. If there are loads of people, it's gotta be decent.
We were welcomed with a basket of bread and a bite of bruschetta (it's namesake). The servers here also speak english, but the entire menu is in German.
I started my meal with a minestrone soup. Most soups come from a mass produced vat but this soup was made to order. The vegetables still had a freshness to them, not the overcooked, mushy kind of minestrone. It seemed like something homemade. Thumbs up to this.
The interior is what I remember the most. The place is lined with pine from wall to ceiling, there are taper candles lit on every table and the table cloths were a warm reddish color. The fact this it was snowing outside made it seem like I was in a ski lodge somewhere.
Good food, great for families and groups, and if it's cold enough, get the minestrone soup.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Geert B.Singapur, Singapur04952385. Okt. 2010
What the others said is all true: this is a good quality Italian at a good price. I had a risotto with vealstrips that was excellent and very filling. Smooth, thick swelled rice with mushrooms, vealstrips and some sort of pancake topping it that was filled with cheese. Service OK. I was somewhat disconcerted at first when I saw the 'specials': the wine was really expensive. But then, their housewine(s) further down in the menu are OK and certainly affordable.

We tried out this place based on the German recommendations and found tasty pizzas and good prices. The tables were located very close together, but we were still able to hear each other and weren't bothered by the people around us. It is definitely worth a return trip.

This restaurant was easy to find and at good food at moderate prices. The waitstaff was very friendly and efficient and the ambience inside the restaurant was very conducive to enjoying a delicious meal. I ordered a pizza and was pleased with both the quality and the size.
