Lemon Grass Thai Restaurant on Huntingdon Pike is a legit Thai kitchen that doesn't pretend to be what it is not. This is no erstaz fusion joint putting out sushi, Chinese and a little Bangkok cuisine. No. It is strictly what it claims to be - all Thai all the time. And, that's the way I like it.
The dining room is dark and small with a bamboo grove potted by the door and soft wood and cool orange tints throughout. Management is Siamese and the chef was likely raised there, too. So, it is as authentic as it can be, while making understandable concessions to American taste buds. I was very pleased with lunch the other day, as it all seemed deliciously consistently Phuket.
The lunch deal consisted of an appetizer, soup/salad and entree, for $9.95. I was attracted to the Buddha Dumplings (veggie), Coconut Soup (veggie) and Drunken Noodles (chicken and hot). It was a combination that came at me in waves. First, the fried dumplings were full of ground veggies and a good dipping sauce. Pleasantly chewy with mild flavor. The soup was steaming and loaded with thin sliced carrots, string beans, mushrooms, tofu, with a slightly stronger spice bite than the B. Balls. Finally, the drunk pasta, while not the jumbo noodles expected, was still strong enough to use it surface to hold on to the heavy brown sauce tenaciously. It had a larger quotient of hot chili powder, and thus the strongest taste and plenty more veggie and sliced chicken. It was perfectly sized at less than a dinner portion, but more than enough to fill me up after all that came before.
Service was attractive, friendly and invisible except when delivering the dishes to the table.
It was great to be back in an authentic Thai house after recent exposure to "fusion" huts that couldn't deliver on the promise of real Pattayan cuisine. If their duck is up to the standards of the rest of the menu, 5 stars won't be far behind.Helpful 42Thanks 0Love this 37Oh no 0 - Shania S.Bloomfield, Vereinigte Staaten227133013. März 2020
One of my favorite cuisines to eat at in Lower Moreland! Having lived here for over 10 years I've visited quite a few restaurants but the flavors in the entrees at Lemon grass is like no other.
Their lunch specials are reasonably priced in a 3-course lunch which includes appetizers, soups and an entree with many selections. The house salad has a variety of veggies with the delicious sides of choosing from the ginger or peanut dressing. The coconut soup is an all time favorite. The drunken noodles have spices that flavor within the noodles and veggies so well.
The servers are sweet and check in from time to time. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and has a great ambiance. Lemon grass has become a regular for me and will never disappoint!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Rick M.Philadelphia, Vereinigte Staaten36716117. März 2022
I have recently moved back into town. I used to visit this little Thai restaurant before I moved. Even though it has moved, it is still the same gem it was before. Green Curried Chicken and SomTom salad were perfect!

Great customer service, but average food. I am used to really flavorful Thai food. I ordered the Thai dumplings and coconut soup. The dumplings were deep fried, which I didn't realize and I thought it was odd. They were too heavy so I sent them back. I thought they would be delicately steamed. The menu only referred to them as crunchy, which I realized after the fact. Crunch could mean a myriad of things. Maybe a crunch texture given the water chestnuts. I don't know. But they were extremely heavy and unappetizing, and should be labeled as deep fried. The server took them back with no issue and brought me steamed. The dough to filling ratio was off and they were so gummy. I ordered the coconut soup with shrimp which was nothing to write home about. The shrimp needed to be de-veined. The soup was lacking flavor. I would be hesitant to return.

We were here when it was Cafe Pryia and when it was Lemon Basil. Cafe Pryia had great soft shell crabs but not much else and Lemon Basil had..well..not much.
Lemon Grass on the other hand has everything!
Starting with the thai salad, Since I'm not a fan of tofu or ginger dressing I asked for peanut and was blown away by the spicy dressing that came on the side. Just enough kick to let you remember it's not peanut butter and doesn't belong paired with jelly. Then came the red curry. We always ask 2 things. Please bump up the spice level and give me an extra bowl of curry on the side.
I got crispy duck with spicy red curry and a bowl of panang on the side. My husband got red curry scallop red curry with an extra of red curry. The only thing that was missing was a straw for me to drink both bowls of curry!! It was that good!
My duck had just enough fat to be crispy and crunchy and my husbands scallops were sweet and buttery
All of this amazing food and a server that was equally amazing. Working by herself on a Friday night, she smiled through every order and special request with ease. Kudos!
We haven't had Thai this good since Wilton Manors in South Florida!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Agnieszka S.Elkins Park, Vereinigte Staaten343115015. Sept. 2019
Ate here about a 2 weeks ago, but can't help reminiscing my wonderful dining experience. We tried the lunch special and it was definitely worth it for the 9-10$ price. The lunch special included your choice of appetizer, soup, and entree. I had the Shumai dumplings, Coconut soup, and the Chicken Pad Thai. Everything tasted fresh and authentic and was served hot. Our server was friendly, took care of us very well and served each course within a reasonable timeline. I would highly recommend if you're looking for a lot of food for a low price, authentic Thai taste, and great service. I know I'll be back soon!

Went here today for Mother's Day it was very quiet so was the neighborhood but it was a calming experience. the food isn't heavy it was rather light the portions aren't as big for the price you pay but the flavors are great. I ordered the lamb chops it,Tasted good I have had better lamb chops but it wasn't something I was unsatisfied with. They put plain bland veggies on my plate that should really be garnish because it's a waste, but it's not, I just wish it added some flavor to the dish, especially because every entree basically comes with it.
The service was ok it was only one server and she was moving as fast as lightning but it would be nice to have another person on board so that they can have time to talk to customers and not let them feel rushed! (That kills me)
Oh I must say I ordered the garden salad with the peanut dressing....Amazing!!!!!! I love that dressing I need to find a copy cat recipe.......overall if u live in the neighborhood or in the neighborhood it's not a bad place to go to I would definitely visit again to try what else is on the menu but would this be my first choice for Thai restaurants probably not.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mary T.Philadelphia, Vereinigte Staaten66131. Stumbled on this cute lil Thai spot, while going to grab a cupcake for my daughter from the business next to it the Bee Well Cafe. My husband and I love Thai so we knew we were going in! We have eaten at alot of spots all over Philly and this cute lil kitchen kicked out a fabulous Drunken noodle. The server was friendly and attentive. Food came out prompt and timed perfectly. We went for lunch and they have a special you cant beat it; an appetizer, soup, and main for $10 eat in only.
Need less to say we grabbed a menu for future take out and we will definitely be back for a lovely quaint eat in experience. Looking for something different in Huntingdon pa give this place a try!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
