These guys not only do good work & treat you nice, they provide automotive confidence.
After a year in Chicago we turned around and moved back to Boston. First things first, I drive out to Greenfield and get my car checked by Dan & Jon. And when they reassured me that it was all good to go, here's your oil change. I felt all better.
I also stopped by to deliver some beer as a thank you. for being my life line. Last May I called Dan from Tulsa, Ok, where I was freaking out after being told I needed 400$ worth of work. Not only did he a) remember me, b) remember my car & work it's had done at his shop, c) he took the time to talk to me about the problem & reassured me that it was very probably the correct diagnosis & that was indeed in the ballpark for cost.
Even when they don't do the work, or make the money, they will make you feel better about your car. And that's the kind of guys they are.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 013. Feb. 2013Vorheriger BeitragI just moved to Chicago and am having car trouble=
I am feeling the loss of Leon's. There is nothing remotely as confidence building as knowing you have a good mechanic and a good dentist. In greenfield, I had both. The mechanic was Leon's.
Dan and his side kick are super nice, helpful, thorough guys who will help you out and fix your problem for a reasonable price.
They have often gone above and beyond for us over the years (one example- the heater stopped working on the way out of town for a ski trip- we stopped at Leon's, Dan got under the car, wiggled stuff around and sent us on our way- wouldn't take a dime.) and I am really going to miss them.
I also know other locals who bring their car here and we have actually sat around and talked about what a great place this is: do yourself a favor- go. - Eric H.Greenfield, Vereinigte Staaten0922. Jan. 2019Aktualisierter Beitrag
Sorry to see that Leon's Auto Repair seems to be closed. Took our cars here for a few years starting in 2014, and Dan (the owner, despite what the name suggests) was always friendly and helpful and really took the time to explain what was going on with our cars. He was honest, reliable and never overcharged, even did a pre-purchase inspection for free on a used car I was buying.

Dan (the shop owner, despite what the name suggests) is reliable and stands behind his work, and never overcharges. He's also a really nice guy who always takes the time to thoroughly explain whatever issues my car is having. Car repairs can be a really stressful thing but I always feel like I'm in good hands here. One possible downside is that because Dan is so good, everyone from far and wide seems to take their car to his shop, so he's really busy and doesn't always return phone calls in a timely manner. But he's never too busy to look at a vehicle on short notice if something unexpected comes up, like he did when my wife's car was overheating a few months back.

Dan is an honest and reliable mechanic. He's done good work for me on several occasions, and he stands by his work. I had a timing belt replaced that got scratched and he immediately offered to send me a check for the part.

The reviews are spot on I have used dan a few times now for 2 different cars I originally found him threw Yelp because I just transferred out here for work. Dan is very professional in his job and will tell you exactly what he thinks is wrong and what the prt cost and what it should cost you before he starts working on your car. He is very friendly and threw conversation has grown up in the business.. I have had him do work from changing my shocks, chasing a wiring issue, replacing a tyrod to the normal main or tire rotation and oil change. I even have had him install a tow hitch I found in the junkyard... He has always had the work done when he said he was going too.. Obviously you cant always guarantee parts being in stock. But if you have him look at it and he says it should be drivable then the parts should be there when he schedules your appt...

I had a situation the other day where my car was driving very rough due to misfires in the engine. I'll admit that I had no clue who is reputable in Greenfield for auto mechanics, so I searched "auto mechanic in Greenfield MA" on Google, and that's how I discovered these guys. I work in Greenfield and really needed someone who could check things out quickly and let me know how to proceed. I called and spoke with Jon, who seemed like a down-to-Earth guy on the phone, and he said he could take a look at it if I brought it in.
I brought the car in and asked if I could watch what he was doing and he was all for it. He said that they actually like to educate their customers in what they're doing, and they seek to form "trust" in their business relationships. He then proceeded to quickly analyze what could be wrong...it turned out to be a bad coil pack that was just replaced by my now-former mechanics (was only done 5 months ago). I asked him other questions based on information that my now-former mechanics had been feeding to me about my catalytic converter, he "cleared up" the misinformation they had been giving to me by SHOWING me where things were on my catalytic converter...He also quickly found an oil leak that I was previously told would be a "bitch to locate" (it's the oil pan seal), and he discovered a bad tie rod end as well. I decided to leave the car overnight so they could work on it in the morning, and I was asked to call Dan (the owner) in the morning to follow up. I left there totally impressed with Jon's knowledge, explanation of what he was doing, explanations of how these things work, and overall pleasant and competent demeanor.
The next morning after talking with Dan, I was even more impressed. He's a mechanical engineer, and explains things in terms that non-engineer/mechanic people can understand. He instilled confidence in their abilities without trying, and gave me an extremely fair price. While other mechanics I've worked with in the past have tried to jack up repair bills with b*llshit and fear tactics, I feel that Jon and Dan are problem-solvers who want to be trusted, and know that they will only earn your trust through honest, high-quality work.
And that's what they do.
I have already recommended people to their shop, and I will bring any vehicle I own to them without hesitation.
They're worth their weight in gold in my opinion!!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ryan S.Greenfield, Vereinigte Staaten0318. Feb. 2015
Dan at Leon's Auto Repair are simply the best. I have found over the years that it is increasingly difficult to find someone who will genuinely, honestly and fairly fix your car. I consider myself fairly handy, and I am usually capable of fixing a lot of automotive problems myself. However, whether is be because of time constraints or just knowing my limitations, I always find it indispensable to have a quality go to person to handle things. Dan and the guys at Leon's are just that. They took care of half a dozen issues that I was having with my car and they fixed them efficiently and fairly. I highly recommend Leon's Auto Repair to anyone looking for a dependable neighborhood shop. Thank you again Dan.

I brought my car to his shop, trusting all of the reviews and good that I heard about Dan. I know he is a politician, and did not think his ethics were off by any means, especially if you talk with him--he's very polite. He told my my engine either needed replacing or to be rebuilt. Seeing that I could not find the right engine after about a year of searching for a quality used engine, I went the rebuilding route. After a month of waiting--not including the time it sat there--he delivered my car and charged me well over $3400 for the repairs. I paid it, though the car still had a check engine light. He said it was an evap leak and to drive it a bit and it should go away. It did, only because of the treatment he put into it. He never rebuilt the engine, which I found out 5 months after struggling with it, when my car stopped and wouldn't restart. I had it inspected by a shop to find that the original bolts and nuts which hold the engine were never touched. The car was inspected to learn that the rebuild that I paid for never happened. It makes sense why his business appeared to have closed down just a few weeks after I picked up my car from him. He took my money and ran. I still have the receipts which he didn't put my vin number on, so the work doesn't show up on a CarFax report. Great way to take care of someone whom doesn't know better. If he ever goes back into business, I wouldn't recommend him to save my life. Dan Leonovich, your father would be ashamed on the mechanic and man you've become!

I had just moved to the area and found my self with a broken down car in a new place. The mechanic who had worked on my car in Boston had put in a faulty part. I got really lucky when someone recommended I go to Leon's. They worked with my previous mechanic to get a new part ordered for free and only charged a fraction of what I was expecting for labor. The staff is friendly and knowledgable. They spoke to me respectfully and didn't assume I was an idiot about cars because of my gender. How refreshing! I love these guys and can't recommend them enough.

Leon's auto is great! Dan is always really helpful and friendly, and he keeps fixing my car for much less than I am quoted at other places. I clearly know nothing about cars, and I never worry that I am being taken advantage of. Not surprisingly, they were recommended to me by a friend who has known and trusted them for years.

An amazing mechanic. I would recommend anyone to go here. Dan is great at explaining anything that is wrong with your car. And he makes sure to do the work that you OK before he moves forward. A truly trusted mechanic!!!
