This is an asian fusion place right by the river in Basel. As it's typical for the area, they have a lot of fusion stuff.
Is it the best asian food I've had? not by a long shot... but you have to come here with adjusted expectations. Everything in Basel is super expensive, this is no exception. The portions are super small for the prices you pay. Add on top of that that none of the dishes really feel authentic and you are bound to be a bit disappointed.

With that said, the dishes here are lighter than most of the other food in Basel... they have lots of veggies and some healthy options as well (again, healthy might = small portions in this case).

I was happy to find this place. It's always a big roll of the dice when traveling and looking for good places to eat. Usually there is no shortage of Italian pizzerias on any given block, however Lily's was an unexpected and refreshing option.
Outdoor seating on a warm afternoon and great service made for a pleasant experience overall.
      And the food!
Asian fusion - and by Asian I mean all over Asia - lots of different influences, however mostly Thai. The Pad-we-ew was phenomenal and the flavors/spice were a nice change from the cheese and bread staples of Western Europe.
Tempura shrimp, salad, spring rolls, dumplings, and a cold beer rounded out our meal and all were delicious.
Save room for one meal at Lily's and get a little kick when traveling in Basel, SWITZERLAND.

Food is on the way... outdoor tables at Lily's. Also dog friendly!

A reliable Thai fusion place right off the river in Basel. Environment is lovely with indoor seating or outdoor seating. When the weather is good. Tables are community-style with benches. Service is friendly & personable. International clientele so wait staff are all proficient in English.

Good selection of appetizers: edamame, pork belly, naan. Edamame are solid and nicely salted. Pork belly is tasty but I admit I prefer my pork belly either braised to utter tenderness that just melts in your mouth or deep fried like cracklin'...this was sort of half-way between the two, so a bit puzzling to my palate. Naan was not very authentic--too thick and lacked the random burnt bubbles authentic naan gets in the oven. Yoghurt/cucumber dip was great--very refreshing.

Papaya salad was crisp and just spicy enough. Not too fishy.

Pad Thai was reliable, solid. Bean sprouts were crispy.

Butterfly rice noodle salad dish was surprisingly refreshing and perfect for a hot summer day. Coconut milk dressing provides a nice tempering balance to the ginger. Mango bits were also tasty balance to the crispy cucumber/carrot curls.

Highly recommend the ginger/yuzu spritzer--light, refreshing. It was cold, but not iced. I wonder if they would add ice upon request--with asking next time. They have a pretty interesting cocktail menu but I didn't try anything on it.

While I recognize that many (many!) people love this place - it's always packed and very noisy, I find it just ok. I've eaten in 2x and gotten take-away once. It's pure fusion - very common in Basel - so the menu is kind of all over the place (Japanese, Chinese, Thai, Indian, etc.) and many of the flavors aren't that distinct. It's "seat yourself", so you're apt to be ignored - especially since, with the crowd, you are likely to go unnoticed as you walk through the door. As for the food sampled:
      1. Fried whole fish - looked impressive and is one of the better dishes I sampled here. Note: this is not available for take-away.
      2. Shrimp pad thai - without a doubt, the worse pad thai I've every had. Oddly off-putting bitter/sour flavors, not enough salt, gummy noodles. Yuck!
      3. Massaman curry - very solid rendition and something I would order again.

It's Switzerland, so expect everything to be way more expensive than expected. This place is no exception.

Whole fried fish - very good!

This is one of rare places you can have business/casual date lunch/dinner with friends or alone. Service can be slow depending upon how busy it is but friendly service. Most dishes are around 20-25 CHF and with one appetizer sharing and one drink, it usually costs under 40 CHF per person and you get full after dining. Not bad deal at all in Basel or anywhere in CH, unless you go for simple pizza or pasta only.

It has separate simple take-away corner where you can get meal with grab-to-go condiments like soy sauce, chili sauce.

      * For some reason, I felt the portion size came a little more for dine-in.

Love their curry dishes n most of their appetizers n soup. Wouldn't get the Thai tea though it just isn't the same from we are use to in U.S. Don't think they used condensed milk.

I really love Lilly's (on the surface). The place is really nice, and had a great BoHo atmosphere. The service is usually pretty good. AND the Thai Iced Tea is so scrummy!

I went here yesterday with a group of friends and had a Latte Machiato which is alright..not as good as Sutter or the other Basel cafes. But it was OK.

Me and a friend decided to share a portion of spring rolls..and this is where the three star's come in. It was 13.50chf and when they arrived there were 5 VERY tiny spring rolls. They were about the size of my big toe!! (Which isn't really big). It was beyond disappointing. Plus there weren't really any vegi's in the spring rolls..they had vermicelli noodles and not much else. As far as value for money goes they are the worst..Mr.Wong's is better in this case.

This is a place I go back to every now and then as the food is good, not too expensive and you don't need reservations. You share a table with other people. Try the ginger lemon tea!

Do you want really spicy Asian food? this is the place :) Of course, you have mention...you want Asian (or whatever country) spicy ;) otherwise you will get Swiss spicy ..
So far, I have had Green thai curry with tofu (instead of chicken) and the Indian dish with puri.
Both were wonderful and the quantity was enormous (compared to some other places).
I wish they had more veg. options.....
The staff is very friendly and will try to accommodate your needs though (like green curry with tofu instead of chicken).
Now I go here almost every month.
