Marine Hotel

we had a family meal recently (july 2012) at 6pm in the bar area, and were looking forward to a hearty meal. The decor is traditional - ie dated and very 80's pub style, no extra effort at making the table settings particularly out of the ordinary. The staff were friendly, but once the order was taken from a rather dated and pricey menu ( most meals around the £10.00 mark) we had a very long and boring wait. We were the only ones in the dining area .Finally after 45mins or more our meals arrived. The food was very basic and consisted of anything you can get frozen from the supermarket and fry yourself, quicker and much cheaper. My expensive battered fish with chips was obviously not a fresh caught fish battered there, it was the same standard you can buy anywhere and everyone had an average size portion of oven chips. No extra garnishes, a lack lustre meal with packet tartare and ketchup sauces, and everyone felt dissapointed as they felt they had wasted their money on a meal they could have heated up at home .
Very expensive for the standard!
