We wandered off our own hotel in search of dinner closer to the city center . How lucky we were to walk into a fine restaurant at the Mercure hotel !
Chef Marcos Hutten makes the best Bavarian cuisine .Our server Blaz Cigale recommended a German Pinot Noir that was excellent . Hint/ we ordered pasta with bolognese sauce! What a delightful combination ! On my journey to find the best German apple strudel. , theirs ranks up among the best or is the best so far!! when in Munich stop in!!
Thanks too to the prettiest server who is knowledgable helpful and is so pleasant --VeronikaHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Ryan T.Irvine, Vereinigte Staaten1512418. Apr. 2019
From California - hotel is great, nice, clean and modern. Bar is well stocked and their restaurant is priced right. For the money this place is a must stay!

The large, clean rooms were the highlight of this hotel. And I supposed if you LOVE feasting on breakfast, you'll like the array of foods offered (but you'll have to pay a hefty 19,10 euros pp).
The Mecure City Center hotel is a 3 minute walk from the main train station where you can hop on inter-city subway trains or DB Bahn trains. I also here that the primary beer garden is nearby but, it was not open during my stay in Munich.

And for a good night sleep, bring ear plugs. This hotel is right next to a few youth hostels which made for some very noisy nights.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Mike W.Annandale, Vereinigte Staaten01401924. Dez. 2014
I stayed her for five nights in December with my young daughter. The room was spacious and well appointed. The minibar was free (good beer!) and refilled daily. There is a parking garage next door which the hotel elevator accesses. It's 18€ per day. The hotel is located two blocks away from the transit hub and sits on the line between vibrant downtown and sketchy downtown with a poorer immigrant neighborhood starting one street over.
There is a small grocery across the street and a good bakery one block over, so we had simple breakfast in the room instead of at the lobby restaurant. We dined in the lobby restaurant twice and got room service. We were pleased with the quality of the food and service. The hotel service overall was quite good and the staff was universally helpful and cheerful.
The only downside was really quite minor. My daughter and I both found the room to be quite warm despite running the air conditioner. This wouldn't normally be a problem, except that the only bedding was warm down comforters. Seriously, that's my only complaint and it's clearly really really minor. I would recommend this hotel to others.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Edward B.Chicago, Vereinigte Staaten11226. Aug. 2018
We spent 10 days at the Mercure Hotel during our recent visit to Munich. Must say, we were very pleased overall with the facility and service from the staff. The hotel is, indeed, very close to the Hofbrahaus -- the main train station. That made it very convenient for us to catch the UBahn or SBahn to locations within Munich, as well as catch trains to Saltzburg, Nuremburg and Augsburg. Given this, there are some shady characters nearby; but we never felt unsafe. Our room was very clean and well-appointed. We faced a small courtyard adjacent to the hotel next door, so at times we heard workers emptying bottles; but no real noise or disturbances. We were very pleased with the men and women behind the bar: They were pleasant, courteous and willing to share insight. Our check in and check out were flawless. A suggestion: There's an Aldi two blocks away to visit and stock up on food and beverages for the room. About the only flaw: On two days our mini bar was not restocked. This hotel is a fine place for an extended stay in the fascinating city of Munich.

This hotel is defintely not a 4 star hotel as promoted. The rooms and the overall hotel experience is more at par with a 3 star hotel.
The location is awful, just a few blocks away from the train station (which is a plus), but surrounded by strip clubs, casinos, cheap stores, fast food chains and budget hotels. It is also NOT walking distance from downtown or touristic areas.
Our room was on the 4th floor, it wasn't ready on time and the other room requested wasn't ready either because they were replacing the toilets!
The smell of smoke is penetrating and uncomfortable, I have young kids and hate to make them sleep in a room smelling like smoke like that. The problem is that smoking is permitted in the 5th floor, hence the smoke travels in the air vents disturbing all occupants. I respect people choices to kill themselves by smoking, but hate getting dragged into their stupidity by 2nd hand smoking.
The room service food was beyond disgusting, we ordered a simple hamburger and chicken sandwich (how can you mess that up? not sure, but ask the cooks at this hotel). The hamburger wasn't a hamburger, it was a piece of overcooked piece of meat (cheap cut), with the consistency and flavor of a car tire. The "crispy chicken" was covered by corn flakes and deep fried. F-ING DISGUSTING!
