This place offers authentic Japanese food with lots of Japanese visitors. Unfortunately the food takes forever. The sushi rice is somehow warm which i didn't fully enjoy

      What to skip:
      - Tamago: tasted a bit soggy and nothing special really
      - Chicken Karaage: big portion sizes but too oily and no flavor. It doesn't come with any sauce
      - Makis: standard makis have small portion of fish
      - Unagi Nigiri - no unagi sauce and not super fresh
      -

      What to order:
      - Negitoro Maki

Overall the sushi is good but not great. My wife enjoyed her nigiri set but I found it not worth for 28€. None of the nigiris on the picture really stood out to me.

Lots of small plate items here in addition to sushi. I went with the 6-piece sushi selection (€16) and everything was tasty and fresh. My boyfriend tried the grilled hake (€10.50) and liked it, though the portion was quite small and didn't include rice (+ €1.50).

We walked in here on a Saturday evening and were seated right away. The interior feels minimalist and a little more upscale than the other Japanese spots in the area. Best part is the large open kitchen! Minor drawback is the relatively slow service.

I'd come back here if I wanted a nice dinner with a group of people to try all the other small dish options.

I came here on a Thursday with high expectations. A Japanese restaurant that opens only for dinner must be really good as they miss out on the profitable lunch service.
We arrived at around 7:30 without reservation and the place was almost full, just a few tables left. We had to wait for 5 minutes until our table was cleared. 90% of the customers were Japanese which normally is a good sign. During waiting I already felt that the ventilation is really bad, you could already smell the deep fryer. Normally I like open kitchens but the ventilation must be perfect. The setting and decor is fine for me, it doesn't need to be fancy.
They have quite a selection of different drinks, including wine, beer and nice list of sake.
      Service is attentive and friendly.
They have all classic sashimi / sushi dishes on the small plastic card menus.
For the raw fish dishes I couldn't find any faults, really excellent and very fresh. Even the presentation is very nice. Even the seaweed of the Ikura sushi was still crispy, doesn't happen too often.
After the raw fish I wanted to try some of their cooked dishes to see if they have the same standard.
Disaster struck! The grilled beef tongue was tough and chewy.
For the Agedashi Tofu they just the cheapest Tofu you can get in Germany. The tofu normally should be soft, held by the batter. In addition it tasted bland. The deep fried chicken was juicy but the batter with seaweed bitter, didn't expect this. This wasn't the end. The biggest disaster was the Tempura Udon. Udon was overcooked, soft and squishy. The tempura prawn already looked greasy but I wanted to try it. I only tasted the greasy batter which was much too thick.
The only exception was the pork and asparagus on skewer.
Be prepared to wait for your food. The kitchen really is slow!
I would give 4 stars for the sushi / sashimi only. But the cooked food only 1 star at best.
Expensive for what you get. Don't know if I come back.

Make sure you get reservations for this place. I was pleasantly surprised to sit down for dinner here. It's always a good sign when the entire restaurant happens to be 80% Japanese.

The sushi is great and tastes just as it looks on the photos. The service was nice and the ambience was casual and wasn't to dressy. The fried tofu appetizer was especially delicious. I've had better udon, but this place is definitely a place you want to stop by while you're in the area.

Sushi is phenomenal, fresh & beautifully presented. It's an open-style cooking atmosphere so you can watch the sushi chefs do their work at the wrap-around low bar or individual tables. The service is attentive and polite. The best sushi we have had in Dusseldorf! Very reasonably priced and menu has lots of pictures for the visiting folks :)
