Well yes I know Coffee is important to the residents of Hamburg, plus I understand the German obsession with technology so I suppose mixing the two together makes perfect sense. Then sticking the shop on the expensive end of Europe's most expensive street (in terms of rental p.s.f.) adds the cache of quality and authority.
The queues in the shop while I was there for EUR2000 coffee machines and EUR20 packs of coffee prove this this concept is a massive marketing hit. Oh plus of course, drinking the stuff could help you marry / turn you into George Clooney.
Not only that but there was also a queue for people wanting to sign up to an account where they pay for their coffee pods by Direct Debit each month?!
Plus when my colleague walked back into the office clutching his nespresso bag (full of over EUR120 of coffee pods to last him a month!) everyone was suitably impressed!
However, I really don't get it.
Yes the shop is beautifully designed, the assistants impeccably professional and polite but surely over £1.50 for a cup of coffee you have to make at home is surely a credit crunch catastrophe in waiting!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Qype User (cupcup…)Hamburg356. Feb. 2009
Fancy and elegant place. You just can feel the upper class taste when you come inside. If you are really a great fans of coffee than this place is a right one for you. They just have lots of choices caffee including their equipment. The service was friendly.
