I stayed here with a coworker for a conference and we had reserved a double use room with two single beds. However, when we arrived they said they only had full beds available so that's what we got. The room was comfortable and they restocked the coffee everyday which was definitely needed. The housekeeper on our floor was persistent--even when we put the do not disturb sign on the door she would knock and even open the door (as we're still sleeping) to try and clean the bathroom even when we said we didn't need anything she seemed offended if we didn't let her do the cleaning.

The coffee machine at breakfast is awesome I loved the lattes. The food buffet is good too but even though there's a big selection, I wish the quality was a bit better. I was left not very satisfied after the meal.

I stayed here for a week while attending a conference.
The hotel was clean, the bed was on the harder side but comfortable and the room was spacious enough for 1-2 people.
It is about a 10-12 minute walk to the Rai, but it is pretty far from downtown. The metro station is about a 5 min walk away. They have a small store downstairs for overnight oats, snacks, waters and such which was nice. The hotel did provide some complimentary waters which was nice.
If you plan to go downtown and explore, I would not recommend this hotel and stay closer to the attractions as some nights a taxi was 40 euros to get back.
Also, i recommend walking the 10 minutes to the cute windmill house a short walk away.

This NH located in Zuid is situated in more of a neighborhood location, however, transportation into the heart of Amsterdam is actually quite easy.

The rooms are very similar to just about every other NH hotel throughout the EU. Engineered wood flooring, comfy bed, average bath.

I LOVE the fact that this location has a refrigerator as I usually bring my own special food.

The hotel also features an adequate workout room for those wanting to catch up on a little fitness.

Overall, I like the hotel for business travel, but for vacation, would likely choose NH Nord for location,

A 5 minute walk from Rai Station, Hotel Novotel Amsterdam City as the hotel is officially known as one of the many hotels in Amsterdam, I visited here in the summer looking to grab some breakfast, after a bad experience having breakfast at the Doubletree by Hilton Amsterdam Centraal, where I was staying (where nearly everything went great apart from breakfast), so this review is only based on a breakfast experience at the hotel as I didn't spend the night, and based on an experience which I can only call the breakfast from hell in a hotel in a poor location (20 minutes from RAI to Central Station at least - not the best hotel if you want to be in the centre of the Dutch capital).

Upon arriving, I had an issue using my card which was down to the systems the hotel used to take payment being really outdated, I normally use a special bank account when I'm away, this time it was Starling Bank to process my transactions as it avoids paying cash and converts currency at a better rate than any dealer without paying a fee. This was inconvenient, after spending a few minutes trying I had to go to a cash machine into the hotel to withdraw cash, at extra cost and inconvenience to pay. Novotel is an international hotel brand, and hotels have guests from all around the world so, alongside an airport, this is the last place you'd find to have a problem using a MasterCard debit.

After finally settling this, I thought at least I can get down to business and finally enjoy my breakfast that's until the next bombshell dropped - breakfast would only be served until 10 am, giving only minutes to get whatever I needed - despite knowing breakfast would be ending soon, much earlier than any other hotel in Amsterdam which had breakfast ending at 10:30 to 11 am, I was still charged full price as a walk-in guest and not told about this - If I would have known about breakfast ending earlier, I wouldn't have gone through all the messing about to get cash (which shouldn't have been a problem) and then paying a high price, as I recall it was around 17 euros each for a breakfast which turned out to be a totally bizarre breakfast experience.

I then thought it couldn't get any worse until I was told they'd struggle to cater for allergies on anything on the buffet or with extras, despite providing gluten-free items such as cereals and bread, when I asked for gluten-free bread it was served in a small packet which has 2 or 3 slices, I knew it was gluten-free because of the Schar branding but it was untoasted.

The breakfast buffet had a restrictive selection which disappointed, the eggs just were bland and low-quality.

      Good points:

      1. The freshly squeezed orange juice machine - I liked this as not many other hotel breakfasts at hotels not just in Amsterdam but throughout Europe I have visited, have it but once again this comes with its flaws - staff were constantly queuing to fill up large water bottles with customers waitings and queues getting out of hand because there was only one machine, also confusing and stupid policy for a hotel that size. I also feel it is disrespectful the staff were filling up so much with waiting for customers (the glasses provided were much smaller), they're well within their right to get a drink but the customer should always come first, especially with limited time left on the buffet and the fact the machine constantly kept breaking, during the 15 minutes or so (probably even less) I was there, I saw it break down a good 2 or 3 times, and in a breakfast service which lasts a couple of hours, I'd hate to imagine how many times it breaks down on a daily basis.

      2. The omelette station with the chef freshly preparing it was a nice touch and the omelettes were probably the only good thing about it, which was why I was upset that just before 10 when breakfast closed he has gone, refusing to make another omelette (the only thing on the buffet which was edible), the depleted buffet was also not being stocked up anymore which also was a shame, disappointing customers.

The way I was treated by the staff, just used for my money who had no care about how it would be paid, nor allowing me enough time and information to have a breakfast and the fact that when I did complain it went un-noticed, once again proving they didn't care in the hotel or at head office too, means I'm struggling to say a nice thing about this place with the only two positives overall also carrying huge negatives.

When in Amsterdam and want a central hotel this is not for you yet one could argue this also applies for the Holiday Inn which is next store, if you're staying in Amsterdam and want a hotel with a good breakfast this is not for you, if you want staff who care rather than just looking at you and seeing money and not a person, this hotel is not for you. A waste of time and money on breakfast, making me breathe a sigh of relief I was staying in the Doubletree.
Avoid at all costs and a one-star rating, to sum up 5000 characters.

We enjoyed our stay here. The beds were comfortable, the room was nice and spacious. The location of the hotel was great because it was very close to the train Station. There was also lots of free weekend parking just outside of the hotel. The hotel parking was not bad priced either. We ate at the little hotel shop and the food was a bit expensive but delicious. Overall great stay!

Great hotel for your corporate stay in Amsterdam. Located fairly close to restaurants and not a far Uber ride elsewhere in town. Good service, clean, modern and has a bustling restaurant where many chose to eat dinner.

Overall the physical hotel was clean and modern. It's about a 15 minute walk from the convention center (we were here on business) and pretty far from most everything else in the city. The main reason for our 3 stars is that they severely lacked staff. We stayed 5 nights and daily would call the front desk and no one answered. We never once saw the concierge despite asking and wanting assistance. We were supposed to have our minibar stocked daily and we called twice on two different days and they no showed (mostly we wanted the water restocked.) All in all it was fine but service experience was definitely lacking due to sheer lack of bodies.

I've eaten here a number of times. It really is strikes and gutters. There are some positive things that you can count on and some negatives too.

On the plus side, the menu changes often enough that it feels fresh and different. And my lunch today was quite tasty. The restaurant is always immaculate and nicely appointed. I love all the design touches in the hotel itself and I they extend into the restaurant. There are always appetising vegetarian choices.

On the minus side, service is just not good enough. Today we placed our orders pretty clearly. 2 of the 3 of us had mistakes. One asked for the salad totally plain with no dressing. We had a whole discussion about it to be sure it was clear. They brought the salad normally with dressing. We had to send it back (and they cheerfully corrected it). She also ordered chips with the salad, but they didn't bring them and we had to ask again. I ordered a soup and a salad for lunch, and they forgot the soup and brought it only when reminded. Perhaps soup and salad is an unusual order? But the two plates they used, while attractive, were so huge they were hard to have both in front of me.

Service is always polite, but unreliable. And you have to try hard to get their attention and get what you need. The upshot is, lunch will take a while. Only go in if you have time to dwell over lunch. The food is good and the price is fair.

I only have but fond memories of this hotel. The hubby and I traveled around Europe and among all the hotels we stayed in, this was one of our top 2. The hotel is huge and a 5-minute walk from the RAI tram station which conveniently takes you to either the heart of Amsterdam or to the airport link. Easily finding the hotel was such a relief after having our luggage getting left behind in Milan (airline's fault). We were greeted with friendly smiles at the front desk and check-in was a breeze. Double checked if Wi-Fi was free and it was! The room's not big but not small either...just perfect for two guests and maybe a child. Everything looked clean and pristine. The bathroom was well-lit and furnished with toiletries (soap, shampoo/conditioner, lotion, toothbrush, toothpaste, and cotton buds). Thank GOD! A few less things to buy after having my luggage MIA. Sheets have a really high count, almost like Egyptian cotton while the mattress is perfectly comfortable with matching fluffy pillows. The well-made bed is so inviting it makes you want to just sleep all day and forget about walking around Amsterdam. Yeah, sure, if only we had the time..

My favorite part of our stay here was their BREAKFAST BUFFET. Awesome, awesome, awesome! Great selection from continental to international. Omelette station, beverage station, fresh fruits, fresh baked pastries and breads, rice, bacon, sausage, waffles, you name it, it's there! The interior of their dining area is modern and colorful. Just beautiful! It's huge so getting a table is not a problem. Service was wonderful with non-stop coffee refills.

Our luggage finally showed up the next day and was delivered directly to our room. Oh what a beautiful and comforting sight that was! I almost hugged and kissed the bellman!

Overall, a great place to stay when visiting Amsterdam. I will be back here!

I wouldn't claim it to be exceptional. We stayed here with an academic conference- and although I wasn't one of the people attending the conference, the proximity was wonderful for those who were to the convention center.
The 4 tram is nearby and convenient to ride further into the city.
The lobby is stunning. Very modern, flavored water by the front desk daily was very refreshing.
The rooms were just average. Clean but very small. We were however pleased to find a mini fridge.
Thank god there is air conditioning because there were 2 of us sleeping in this tiny single bed.

To Conclude: We were comfortable returning to this hotel. It had AC and Wifi. The beds/rooms were small but so is everything in Europe. I would stay here again.
