The Novotel hotel in Cologne is a very modern, clean well thought of place. , From the secure parking in the basement the clean lifts up to a very well presented reception area with very well spoken staff that are very helpful I must add, to the very stylish restaurant / bar that stays open very late (I think it was about 2 in the morning when we left). The rooms do not disappoint either with everything there that you may need from full WiFi to direct dial phone and a courteous mini bar as well. If only all business travel was this rewarding

This place is pretty decent to stay at! It's not too far from things, and they have free computers downstairs to get online with. Wish there was free wifi but that doesn't seem to be so common here in Koln.

Good value! Nice and proper, excellent breakfast. Close to hidden treasure of Severin area. Recommended!
Minus 1 star for having no free Wifi. Big fail in this day and age!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Qype User (marsde…)Sevilla, Spanien4149210. März 2009
Rooms spacious with a view of the river (just with the new buildings). Possibly need a bit of a touch up now on paint work, but always a restful night's sleep. Huge breakfast buffet served til 1pm on Sundays, plus check out extended to 4pm - very civilized!

A very good hotel although not in a great area for tourist sights and walking. It's on a major road which would be very hard to cross. If you do cross it (good luck!), you're at The Rhine and can take a walk along the riverfront.
The room was comfortable, the air con worked tolerably well, and the staff were friendly. Breakfast is €19.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Michael A.Arrondissement of Mons, Belgien8957711054. Aug. 2015
The hotel was just across the street from the river and about a 20 minute walk to the main touristy area, where the cathedral/Dom is.
We stayed just one night and I must say, it wasn't bad. I booked a triple room as my wife's sister was visiting and we decided on a trip to Koln. Her bed was actually a sofa bed that was already opened and made up when we got there. She complained though that it wasn't very comfortable and was being poked by the springs.
Our bed, on the other hand was really nice and comfortable. We were right on the street side of the hotel but if the windows were closed, no noise could be heard. There was also a coffee maker in the room and the shower was nice - good pressure and hot water. Not a bad little place. Oh, pretty filling breakfast too!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Michael H.Kentish Town, London, Vereinigtes Königreich24181019. Okt. 2013
This Novotel is a decent hotel at the southern fringe of Cologne's city center. The location near the Rhine boardwalk is a plus, but there are not too many shops and restaurants in the immediate vicinity of the hotel. Rooms in general are not bad, but slightly below 4-star level in my view. They are relatively small and the furniture is somewhat generic. Rooms do come with comfortable beds and air-conditioning, however. In-room wi-fi was free, but unreliable (connection kept on breaking down). Breakfast is on the expensive side at 17 Euros as of October 2013. What sets this hotel apart is the gym area on the sixth floor overlooking the Rhine (too bad it closes at 11pm). Staff was friendly and helpful.
