Novum Style Hotel Hamburg Centrum Downtown

This "new" hotel was terrible. The elevator was a meter square so 2 people with bags hardly fit. The room was so small there was only 2 feet around three sides of the bed. The shower also was a meter square making showering an effort. This is a hotel to avoid!!

I have to say the $15 breakfast buffet were good.

I stayed at this hotel in Hamburg for a few nights on a train trip between Copenhagen and Berlin. The room was moderately comfortable, but basic and incredibly stuffy - there's no air conditioning. It was definitely where lots of young travelers and backpackers would go, and it didn't seem to be the sort of place that business travelers or families stayed.

To that end, every single night I had trouble sleeping because of noise and parties in other rooms, and on my first night someone in another room was smoking, and I really needed the windows to stay open because it was way too hot inside.

I called down to reception to see if I could switch rooms because someone in another room was smoking, and the hotel yelled at me and accused *me* of smoking in *my* room. Uhhh, what? They refused to let me change rooms, and the rest of my stay wasn't very pleasant. But, it was more comfortable and more updated than many other places I've stayed in Europe, so it's got that going for it.

The location isn't great - while it's pretty close to Hamburg Hbf, it's not near any of the main attractions of Hamburg, depending on what you're looking for. And I didn't really like the nearby restaurant selections.

I wouldn't stay here again.
