In my opinion, Omar Discount is a great store because it always has what I need and the employees are usually very nice.

I moved to this area about 2 years ago. I happened to see this store when traveling on a regular basis. I decided to give it a try, and shopped here
several times. I would say I have spent about $200.00 dollars here. However, today I had a very unpleasant experience with I guess one of the owners or managers not sure his position. I had bought two 9 volt batteries the day before, because I needed them for my smoke alarms at home. The batteries were Panasonic and they were one dollar each battery. When I installed the first battery, for some reason, my smoke alarm kept on making that periodical beep sound, you know, like when it lets you know the battery is low or no good. I took out the battery and tested it with a volt meter and it gave me a reading of 7.85 volts. The battery was no good, because it needs to be at leas 9.0 volts or higher. Well, I took the second battery that I had bought the day before (remember I bought two batteries). This battery was good, it was reading a little more than 9.0 volts. When I installed the battery into the smoke alarm, the beep stopped. The following day I went back to Omar Discount Center to return the bad battery and get a replacement. I was told by the owner or manager (not sure his position) that they can't accept the battery because the package was open. I told him of course it's open, I had to open it to use it and install it in my device. I told him that the battery was not good. I told him I had tested it with a volt meter and it gave me a reading of 7.85, when it should be 9 volts or more. And told him the other battery I had bought was good. Again he said they do not accept open packages for return. Then he suggested I take my complaint to Panasonic who makes the battery. He said he is just the retailer. Really?
Then when I thought it wouldn't get any worse, it did. He suggested that maybe I had mixed the old battery with the new. I don't think so I said. I told him I had not mixed the old battery with the new. Besides the old battery that was installed in the smoke alarm was not a Panasonic. It was a Sunbeam. So there is no way I would have mixed the old battery with the new. Whether intentionally or unintentionally, the batteries were not mixed.
Well this got me offended and upset, first that he would not accept back a bad product that he sold me, second that he told me to take my complaint to Panasonic, and third that he suggested that I may have mixed them so that maybe I was trying to get one for free. No, I don't think so. I don't operate like that. If I tell you the battery you sold me is bad, I'm being truthful and honest about it. So I left, but not before telling this man that he has lost my business. Just for one dollar, this man has lost my business. Like I said, I have spent about 200.00 dollars here in the last couple of years. And most likely, I would have spent more in the coming years. I had also thought about bringing my mother here. But that won't happen. Not anymore. My advice to all of you is: If you come here, DO NOT BUY BATTERIES. Because if they are bad, they won't accept open packages, and you will loose out on your money. Wise shopping to all.

has a great variety of stuff, great prices, friendly staff, really great store in all. however, during the pandemic i have not seen one worker with a mask, they encounter many clients daily and wear no mask! if they happen to have a mask it's under their chin, please do better it's a safety risk.
