I found this place quite cozy yet casual for date night, friends meet-up or just hang out for movie night. Theater seems to show an independent film. Bartender was quite energetic and friendly. Menu is small but food was pretty good. Full bar in the theater. What else can go wrong? :)

Highly suggest that you stop by sometime. You won't be disappointed.

PS: Complimentary bread comes with lard (pork fat), not butter.

Hard to believe that this lovely little cinema has not be reviewed yet (well, it has but not in English). The cinema is hidden inside a rather nice restaurant and the seats are large and very comfortable (see the pics).

The film programme is usually very high grade and mainstream films are blissfully absent. It is just a great place to watch a good movie - buy a few nibbles at the bar, grab a glass of nice wine, take a seat and enjoy the film.

If you are hungry after the film you only need to step out of the cinema and have some good food in the popular restaurant - or just have a drink for that matter but not too many as you need to go down a spiral staircase to reach the loos.

Highly recommended; this must be the nicest cinema in Frankfurt.

      Date night!
      Frances Ha!
      Dinner!
      Movie!
Right down to a sweet red rose.
(We even held hands... shhhh ;)

Admittedly, you don't come to Germany to watch English-language films. BUT when you *are* in the mood, Frankfurt has a fair share of lovely less-commercial venues where films are shown in the original language (OV) and/or with sub-titles (mU). Because the mister is a wee bit rustier on his German than I am, we tend to save any cinema urgings for back in Scotland. But this week, I had such a yen for a cuddle in a dark theatre, and then when we saw the listing for 'Frances Ha' showing at Orfeo's Erben, a film I've been wanting to see for ages now... it was a done deal! And all that on a school night!

Orfeo's Erben has an eclectic program and is one of the many fine cinema art houses in town. There's also a restaurant (food not available everyday so call ahead first!) The restaurant is connected to several other institutions in Frankfurt (i.e. Schöneberger in Bornheim, Halle der Helden on Hanauer Landstraße, and I believe once/still Leib&Seele as well??), so you know what to expect - a nice enough atmosphere with good decent fare, and it's a fine place to grab a few drinks before or after the film. I doubt anyone goes to the restaurant for food without a film; still, it's far above and beyond your standard cinema concessions, hot dogs, popcorn, and sugar-shocking concoctions :) It's not a large theatre, so if you're wanting to see something that's just come out, it's worth calling ahead to book your seats. Otherwise, we've never had a problem getting spots at the door.

Parking can be a bit tricky in that neighborhood, so leave the keys behind and grab your bicycles or take the tram. OR go for a lovely stroll, hand-in-hand ;) Too bad the Linden trees weren't still in bloom otherwise our cliché date night would have been so complete :D

      Bonsoir!
      Bonne nuit!

(I've no idea why I just turned faux-français!!)
      (It's gorgeous and sunny today!!)
      (It's Sunday!!)
      (Going looopy!)

A wonderful cinema with about 100 really comfy seats and an exotic programme. I have not had a meal there yet, something for the future.

a cozy and charming movie theater with a restaurant/bar attached ... the food at the restaurant is not much to write home about but the atmosphere more than makes up for it ... better than a lot of the other sterile movie theaters in Frankfurt
