I just ate there about an hour ago and I'm really hoping I get food poisoning from it because I would relish the opportunity to un-eat what was the most boring meal I have ever eaten.
I guess they get a lot of trade because it's close to Boxhagener Platz and Simon-Dach Strasse so they don't have to try hard, but this was really pushing it to the limits.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Jennifer H.Berlin1633236012. März 2013
Papaya is a little Thai restaurant right next to Boxhagener Platz. The food, I thought, was alright, not brilliant not bad. But, my parents i.e. really liked it. I am super picky with Thai food, so I am not surprised. All in all Papaya is a great option for Thai food in the area, but the prices are a bit steep, most dishes are €10, which I find expensive for Thai food in Berlin. They have a great menu though with lots of options, the beef is organic (Neuland), and the portions are huge (especially the pad thai). If you are aching for Thai food in Friedrichshain it is a good and save option.

Tucked away in a fantastic neighborhood, this cozy and friendly little restaurant was well worth the visit. Possibly the best Thai food I've had ... Outside of Thailand of course! :-)

Great Thai place with organic meat and therefore a little bit more expensive then some other places in this area. Still cheap though (around 7 euro for a main) and I feel this is very justifiable. We hadn't been here in a while but thought we'd try again, and we were very impressed. Spicy certainly meant SPICY, and the soups were absolutely fantastic. Very well balanced, not too salt, just right! We prefer this Papaya over the one on the other side of the street, and I have the feeling this could become a new favorite. They do not just have noodles & soups by the way, also rice dishes.

Very nice soups, delicious fresh spring-rolls with coriander (so nice when it's warm outside!), steamy curries (although a bit on the fat side), good stir fried beef / chicken / tofu / shrimps with oyster sauce, chili's, ginger and thai basil, and overall very well balanced tastes. This does not mean bland - I've been to several high quality Thai restaurants, including a lot in Thailand, and everybody who thinks Thai food should always be burning hot doesn't now what he's talking about).
Try to get a table around the corner from the kitchen or outside, otherwise you'll smell like a Thai fishcake when you leave the restaurant.
Good lunch menu's!
All-in-all.... a nice place for a nice thai dinner... not our favorite one in the area though (check my reviews).
5 stars hadn't it been for the the smell inside and the fact that the food that can be a bit on the fat / salty side.
Update: They opened a new place across the street, with noodles and soups! - Melissa R.Washington, DC, Vereinigte Staaten0181812. Mai 2013
Went based on the Yelp reviews and proximity to my apartment. The area is wonderful and since it was a nice morning the outside seating was packed. However the inside was also beautiful. The server was totally fine when I asked to have Eiernudeln with my friend's Pad Thai instead of the normal Glasnudeln, and the food came out in relatively good time.
Since we both ordered Pad Thai (him beef, me chicken) I can only comment on that but it was pretty good (large portion). Definitely put effort into the aesthetics of the food, with the carrots carved into flowers on the side and flowers in the milkshakes. (Mango milkshake- good, but a warning to other Americans, milkshake does not equal the super thick creamy with fruit bits kind, but rather a cold milk-drink with mango flavoring. I keep forgetting that.)
The prices were a little more expensive than the average Berlin eatery but since the restaurant was nice I was not surprised. Well worth the lunch had there!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jill L.Friedrichshain, Berlin5816. Jan. 2014
One of my favorite places to go eating! Always good and excellent quality! Worth going. Expensive though.
