Perimeter Institute

What should you know about Perimeter Institute? Well first of all it houses the best theoretical physicists in the world...yes, the world. This place was founded by Mike Lazaridis, RIM's co-CEO. Steven Hawking has visited and sat on the board of directors for a few years among other notable physicists, but if you haven't already heard of this place you probably won't recognize their names.

But what can Perimeter Institute mean to those of us that aren't apart of the theoretical physics elite?

Surprisingly, a lot.

It has a beautiful restaurant upstairs called The Blackhole Bistro that houses lavish private events, along with a number of dinner shows including music, performances, and wine appreciate nights. The food is fresh, local and the menu is different for every event. It's also delicious.

The building itself, apart from being architecturally beautiful, has a big concert hall that offers concerts in classical music and jazz by big names like Yo Yo Ma, as well as lectures on art and science.

So, although day to day this place is closed to the public and home to some of the brightest (and geekiest) among us, on special occasions it can be one of the more culturally enlightening evenings you'll spend this year.
