Poppy's Cafe

Poppys cafe is a hidden gem, in more ways than one, the main aspect being just off the main street in Shrewsbury, the cafe is very well decorated, it has an extremely friendly, homely atmosphere, you feel like you are visiting friends. The menu is tradational, with lovely coffee and cakes, to cheese on toast, or larger meals such as Quiche. All food is freshly prepared, and very reasonably priced. This is my treat when I go into town, espically with the festive season approcahing.

Visited this place for breakfast recently with my father and was not impressed, poor service as staff were busy chatting to friends, were no 'simple' breakfast options and very expensive.

As soon as we sat down got asked 2 order, then again twice more within minutes still looking at 1st page of menu. There was only 2 other people in there. Asked if I could av something off the menu that finished @ 11:30 ok it was now 15:30 but salmon & scrambled egg on toast when not busy and still serving salmon with jacket potato or on a panini it wouldn't av been any more hastle then the two dried up over cooked all day breakfast (with eggs & toast) just add salmon!!!!!! we were sort of pushed into ordering by the female version of Manuel. Unfriendly over priced over cooked and should be overlooked as We think there could be far better at the hospital!!!!!!! I joke you not.

Very friendly and especially accommodating if you have a baby with you (breast feeding supportive). Food can be good, baked potatoes etc, but I have been with someone whose sandwich was almost inedible because the meat was so tough... On balance I think its worth a try.

There's only one thing I ever eat at poppy's an all day breakfast! It's just the best cure for the morning after a skin full! The building is lovely, an old black and white place with bucket loads of character that you will just love. The staff are friendly and polite. The prices are reasonable and the time it takes for a fresh, hot all dayer to appear is just what the doctor would order.
