Ramsay Arms Hotel

I had a lovely visit to the Ramsay Arms Hotel last week. A group of us (about fifteen people in all) took over the hotel for a weekend meeting, and we were treated to great service, awesome food, and a close attention to detail. I might just be the typical American who found herself in love with a charming, quaint Scottish town ... then again, I can be pretty particular about my experiences while travelling, and I'm glad to report this hotel exceeded my expectations.

My room (#9) had a fantastic view of the town and was extremely clean, and the historic nature of the building only adds to its appeal. I can't say enough good things about the food (especially the cullen skink, ploughman's salad, and porridge), which was served to us in the in-hotel restaurant. There's free wi-fi available in the fireplace-warmed lobby, and the pub downstairs provided a cozy, friendly atmosphere. Likewise, our meeting room overlooking the beer garden was cozy, but not too small, and the skylights gave lots of beautiful, natural light. The service was fantastic, too.

Visited for Sunday lunch one sunny Sunday Afternoon.

Lovely location, and hotel, friendly bar staff and service, the roast beef and Yorkshire pudding was fine, but could have been better, small portion for the price and quality could be improved, but absolutely nothing wrong with it.

Went here for a celebratory meal with my family. We had the meal in the bar area. The menu was really nice with many options to choose from. Food was cooked to a high standard with attention to presentation. Friendly service of the staff. Cost was not too expensive. We will definitely be back again. The sauchieburn hotel is also in the same neck of the woods as an alternative.
