Regent Berlin

I made a reservation to this hotel through Amex, which is part of their hotel collection program. The hotel is in a great location as you are within walking distance to many bars, restaurants and tourist attractions. The staff at the hotel was exemplary. Every individual I interacted with was professional, friendly, and made me feel special. I was jet lagged and put the "do not disturb" sign on the door because I slept in the first couple days. And both days they left a nice note on
my door offering to contact them should I want my room cleaned or needed any additional supplies. Sincere, friendly greetings from the door staff when you entered and exited the hotel, opening the door for you and running over to help with luggage. Front door staff was very pleasant when I called with a question and during check in and check out. The staff at the bar at their restaurant Charlotte & Fritz were wonderful. They made sure to accommodate my dietary preferences as I wanted to eat very healthy. The blonde bartender who took my order for the beef filet went above and beyond to make sure my meal was to my satisfaction. The chef made substitutions to boil me potatoes instead of having the gratin potatoes and offered steamed broccoli and cooked my filet without any extra oil, butter or lard as I requested. I also ordered the char for room service and the char which sat on top of risotto was very good. Room service delivery was also very quick which surprised me. The room was very clean, nothing out of place and had USA voltage and plug outlets in addition to other outlets. The gym and locker area were also very clean and well stocked with water, towels, bathroom amenities, and lockers. You will not be disappointed staying here!

We were Berlin for a 3 night stay in June, 2016, and The Regent was our hotel. Identified by our Virtuoso travel agent as "the" property to stay at in Berlin, we could not agree less. In a wonderful neighborhood, which we wandered around on the Sunday of our arrival, as soon as you arrive at the front door, you know it is someplace special, from another era.

Front desk reception, located off a small, beautifully appointed lobby (with a centerpiece of fresh flowers which were incredible), was well staffed at all times, and friendly, with a Germanic formality. We were escorted to our room, which had been upgraded to a suite, and the receptionist explained where everything was, how the lighting worked, multiple HVAC thermostats, and asked us to try the bed to be certain it was to our liking!

The suite was lovely, old world charm, a huge sofa, several oversized chairs, original art work all around, lush carpeting, and a bathroom to have an affair in, if you are the type to have an affair in elegant old bathrooms which appeared to have been from the 1930's. We had a view from our window of a courtyard, but that was fine, as I imagined that was where spys met at one time to do whatever a spy does when they meet another spy in courtyards in Berlin.

I will describe the dinner meal in the Michelin starred restaurant in another review. Full Breakfasts (included with our room rate) were served in the same restaurant, and included all sorts of hot prepared meals, as well as an extensive cold buffet of fruits, cereals, breakfast meats and cheeses, jams, juices. Servers and hosts swirled around us at breakfast, standing at a discrete distance, making sure any glance up from our table was met by their prompt response. We spent about 90 minutes at breakfast, relishing our surroundings as well as food.

Afternoon tea was served in a lounge which was opulent, with a grand fireplace and chandeliers, and an attentive, but somewhat pompous tea master. He did give us an a few extra cookies, sweetly smiling at us when he explained that they were extra. The tea, served in this incredible silver tea pot, was not as hot as I would have liked, but I was afraid to say anything to the tea master.

A separate bar off the main dining room served light foods at night, and was the place for important looking very well dressed mysterious looking men to meet and drink. We felt like we were in a movie set, and the people in the bar were spys, and we sat and looked around as we had a glass of wine and a sandwich, trying to look equally as important and spy-like as they did. I don't know if we succeeded, but we tried! (Actually, there were several men from the security detail of the Agentinian President, see below)

Oh, while were there, the President of Argentina was in Berlin for a trade meeting with the Chancellor, and yes, he stayed at the hotel, as well as his entourage of senior advisors, and yes, they held a press conference at the hotel, and yes, it was weird and fascinating to be in the same room as the President of Argentina who sat on a sofa by himself, reviewing his notes, and then to see the Chancellor walk in, sit down next to him, speaking one-on-one, and then joined by note-taking assistants. Of course, Dennis nodded at the President of Argentina, and walked over and shook his hand and spoke to him in Spanish. I'm only mentioning this encounter cause it should give you an idea of the guests who you might encounter in their public spaces, and to further demonstrate that The Regent is special.

When in Berlin, if you don't care about expense, stay here and you'll experience something very special and old world grand. I cannot assure you that you will meet the President of a foreign country, nor the Chancellor of Berlin, but you will be treated very well by their attentive staff, even if you sometimes feel you might want to or should salute a few of them!

Just from looking at the list of previous celebrity & dignitary guests will tell you the caliber of this hotel. Service is EXCELLENT in every facet. Didn't have the time to eat at the Michelin-star restaurant downstairs but their tea service is fantastic with the best Rooibos tea I've ever had.

It's more Ritz Carlton than the W in decor, in its "old world" elegance. Did I mention the amazing service?

We stayed here during the Easter holiday and had 2 regular room and 1 suite. The lobby is not as grand as a 5 star typically is, but it was decorated very well. There is a small room for tea time during the day in the entrance as well as a separate room with a bar for cocktails and drinks before/after dinner to finish off the evening. There was only 1 restaurant on premises which we ate at for breakfast. Everything here was very upscale and prepared well but we did not sit for dinner and cannot speak for that.

All of the rooms were clean, orderly and well maintained. We had everything that you could have asked for, including a converter for USA/UK/EU so there is no need to bring any of your adapters if you are staying here. A safe, flat screen TV and desk are also all present. The bathroom is very large and the house-keeping staff is friendly and quick should you ask for anything that you were missing. We ordered room service a couple of times and they were upstairs within 30 minutes with everything we needed.

Overall our stay here was great and the location of the hotel is ideal if you are looking to stay in Berlin-Mitte with access to shopping, piazzas, river walking and easy access to metros/trains.

This is one of those hotels who has a fairy godmother concierge. I'd read about them in magazines but never experienced one til now--third row theater seats, reservations at an un-reservable restaurant, knowing what makes me happy better than I do. Service is all-around impeccable.

It's definitely one of those 'grand-dame' european hotels. It's overdue for an interior design update, but i kinda like it- feels like the whole place has been inhabited by the souls of fancy great-grandmas.

If you've come to Berlin to get a taste of hip modernism, this isn't your hotel. But it is lovely and comfortable and reasonably priced for what you get.

I had an amazing experience at the Regent. They go above and beyond to ensure that every detail is perfect. From the breakfast to the decor, the Regent provides a luxurious experience to remember. Breakfast at the Regent consisted of eggs Benedict on smoked salmon with sausage and bacon. Bread basket, tower of assorted cheeses and meats, and English breakfast tea. That's in addition to the towers of cereal and fruit located in the center of the room. Delicious! Definitely treat yourself to this hotel if ever in Berlin.

From the ouside a normal buildung in a cold modern way the hotel greets with the most opulent hotel lobby I ever met.


The classic warm atmosphere is continued from the lobby to the reception to the bar to the restaurant and the rooms.


The service is the best I ever met. Since my first stay, then belonging to the Four Seasons group, I will come back every visit in Berlin, even if it is just for the bar or the afternoon tea.

Fantastic hotel in the middle of the old town - exactly where you want to be. Location was close to museums, restaurants, sites, transportation, etc. And the accommodations are first class: beautiful reception, bar, tea-room, and guest rooms. Room service also quite good. The staff were very friendly and always helpful. Highly recommend staying here.
