This is a small restaurant and it's located near the center of the tourist district. What that means is, you will want to make a reservation or arrive just before they open. We were second in the queue at 11:30 and so we were seated immediately after they checked for anyone with a reservation.
Friendly service with an English menu even though we clearly do not speak any more French than "Bonjour" and "Merci." We opted for a carafe of wine and decided to share the "Sauerkraut royale."
Again with the friendly waiter who served it up for us. So. Much. Food. Three different sausages, bacon and a slice of pork loin with a lot of sauerkraut. Thankfully, there's a mustard pot on the table and with a tiny bit, it really made the sausages even more delicious.
A fabulous lunch and in a charming little restaurant.

We came here on a whim and so glad we did! We felt welcome right away with our large party of 12 (we had been turned away elsewhere.)
The wait staff was very friendly and helpful. They even had a menu in English which was amazing! The atmosphere was fun.
I will only comment on what my husband and I ordered and shared:
La Choucroute (sauerkraut) classique which was potatoes, sauerkraut (lots of it, yay!), and sausages and ham. We both loved every bite of it.
Le Bibalakas: cream sauce with garlic & onions, sautéed potatoes, wedge of soft (munster?) cheese, and a green salad (dressing was especially yummy).
We would totally go back there if we had the chance.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Chet M.Peachtree Corners, Vereinigte Staaten23362530. Okt. 2017
My wife and I had a wonderful dinner here. Our food was well prepared and fresh. I would recommend a reservation they turn people away without One. I would recommend this as one of the better places in Colmar.

My girlfriend was reluctant to enter, I knew I was in for something good when I saw this restaurant. It's a very, very authentic Alsatian restaurant.
The reception was perfect, we felt welcome right away.
We went for a complete menu. No remarks here, good quality, good portions.
I especially remember the atmosphere. Somehow you feel very relaxed, and you just enjoy the meal, and the company -- also from the other tables :) The waitresses (and owners I guess) make you feel more than welcome, and know how to sell their dishes.
They have a huge collection of digestives!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Gail L.FL, Vereinigte Staaten373153576. Sept. 2015
Wonderful evening with dining room filled with laughter! Charming wait staff, could not have been more welcoming to us.
Strongly suggest you reserve a table because once they are full they don't run a wait list like in the U.S. Which is common throughout Europe.
We both love onion soup and were some what concerned by a review that said the soup was good but had no onions? Well we ordered the soup which was fabulous, rich and smooth with plenty of onions, so we were very pleased we tried some. Dinner was game hen in a sauce so good my husband wiped the plate clean with the bread! I had the chicken poached in Riesling which I have tried at three different places during our travels. Hanzi did the chicken perfectly. Nice sides of fresh vegetables, spaetzel and potatoes. Too full for dessert. Short walk back to our hotel and a delightful evening overall.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Cassidy Z.Corrales, Vereinigte Staaten381752416. Dez. 2014
Formula for French dining: Wine. Bread. Meat. Repeat.
My husband and I had a wonderful meal at this traditional Alsacian restaurant which was recommended to us by a local. The waitresses were friendly and all dressed in costumes alluding to traditional Alsatian dress. My husband and I appreciated the prix-fix menu which offers three price options (from 22-42 euros). I opted for the first, lower priced, option which began with a quiche, followed by chicken. My husband got the most expensive option and had fois gras and beef. Both of our meals were very good--although the local French food in Colmar, as in much of France is pretty heavy (much like American Southern "comfort" food). Just something to keep in mind. We both got the apple tarts for dessert--very good! In general, we had a nice time in a warm inviting atmosphere.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
