This was an amazing experience - apparently this place was a paper factory converted into a restaurant.
We came here after a long hike to the mountains and boy! did this place deliver.
We started off with the grilled broccolini and the whipped feta. My main was the lamb and salad and the lamb was cooked to perfection. I had a Jamaican mule to accompany my meal .
My colleagues's French fries were perfect - if I am back in Zurich, this is definitely a place I am coming back to.
Service was absolutely seamless and quick. Ambience was industrial chicHelpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Michèle S.Zürich, Schweiz1292194419. Mai 2022
We had an awesome date night at Rüsterei. They were super knowledgeable about the menu and we felt really accommodated. Food was really good and the drinks as well. Can definitely recommend if you want to have a high quality meal in a quiet and stylish restaurant.

I mean, what's not to like at this modern European restaurant in a cool industrial space in downtown Zürich. Not the longest and most varied menu - and the burgers that you smell are actually from the bar next-door - but some really well executed dishes and reasonable service.
Had a really delicious ostrich dish with some great preparation and a host of cool flavors.
A little lackluster/European service, but overall a really credible meal.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 31. Jan. 2018
Came here twice in two days. The first because It was recommended by a coworker and second bc my group chose to come here after work.
The first visit I had the big kahuna dog which draws inspiration from Hawaii with pineapples bacon and a special kahuna sauce baked on two smoked sausages and geese on a pretzel roll. Not bad but could use more pineapple and spam instead of bacon.
Second visit we had a fixed menu with lamb shank that was tender and salad that was so artistically plated like a crescent moon. I appreciate the presentation but I'd prefer more salad aka a bigger portion that covers the plate.
Service was friendly during both visits and best part of this place is it's decor. Super modern industrial vibe yet comfortable chairs and cushions. The high seating areas also have pillows. Exposed duct work pipes etc give it that loft feel as well. It's a good photo opp location!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Angela L.Garden City, Vereinigte Staaten8518334719. Dez. 2018
What a unique interior this restaurant has! It's very upscale yet the walls are full of graffiti and it has a "warehouse vibe." There are big open windows and elaborate chandeliers - really different and cool. The food was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! The service wasn't great; however, I think that could be due to the language barrier. I would definitely recommend for those looking for a nice dinner out in Zurich.

I was impressed with this restaurant. Supposedly this was on the site of an old paper mill which explains the charm of this place with the exposed seemingly decorative pipes which hint at an industrial artistic design. Having this explained brings such character to the place (whether that is true, I am not sure, but it makes for a good story).
The food was great. I had a minced meat over macaroni which was presented well and was delicious. It was one of the daily lunch specials and brought a gourmet flavor to a somewhat simple dish. Service was good, although I didn't speak and Swiss or German, they tried to explain things well in English (which is probably the 3rd or 4th language spoken in the city).Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May C.Zürich, Schweiz10424166714. 3 stars reflects a variety of my visits from the cocktail bar, lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch during the past three years at this location. Spotty service, decent food and not the most impressionable brunch.
The food is quality, whether you come here for any occasion, that deserves 4 stars. However, when the going gets tough, the service can get spotty here. I wonder if the fact is this restaurant is so big makes people wait longer b/c the servers have to run back and forth a greater distance. Who knows. I've had the longest dinner experience here in Zurich one time for a friend's birthday dinner party. The 6 of us all felt our lives wasted away that night - though our behinds were not in pain as the chairs have nice cushions on them, probably why they make them that way! That wait was so memorably long that after 2 years I still remember this experience. The lunch service is ok and prompt, with a mixture of Swiss and an attempt to Asian fushion their salmon burger topped with a dash of Japanese seaweed salad and a side of wasabi mayonnaise sauce. Not too shabby, my food connoisseur friend Dan and I quite enjoyed ourselves.
Then there comes the Sunday brunch. It is priced at CHF 55 which comes with the typical Zurich "open range" brunch (I hate calling it "buffets", so not classy), with a glass of prosecco. The set up is really inconvenient as it is all "cluttered" in one area, conducive of human traffic jams. Who needs this annoyance on a Sunday? The variety is also not the most impressive I've seen in Zurich, though my friend swears by their scrambled eggs. Would paying CHF 55 for good scrambled eggs be worth it though? Not for me. I think the brunch at Imagine HB at CHF 37 is a better run for your money, with better types of foods, faster service and ex-human traffic jams as the food is presented in a more spread out fashion throughout the restaurant.
Lastly, the bartender/area is pretty cool. Great bar munchies available. But you are in Sihlcity, after all. It's not a bar scene area of town. So I can only imagine drinking at this bar when you happen to be in this area. At certain weekend nights they do have parties there, but still, it's in Sihlcity... womp womp.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Tommi M.Kreis 4, Zürich, Schweiz629. März 2015
Rüsterei offers hands down one of the best dining experiences in Zurich!
Tell you the truth I wasn't expecting it to be so great. Don't get me wrong, I knew Rüsterei had a very good reputation. Maybe it was the fact that the old factory building where Rüsterei is located is a part of a shopping complex (even if in a very cool one) that made me somehow wary.
However, once you enter the playfully theatrical, yet cosy inner world of Rüsterei everything outside doesn't seem to matter: the space is great, attentive yet relaxed service welcomes you. We went for a 5-course tasting menu. The incredibly delicious and surprising appetiser including roe-sorbet set the bar high. But course after course the expectations are met with yet more beautiful, tasty dishes accompanied by excellently chosen wines.
What more can I say: 5 out of 5. I'd recommend Rüsterei for any foodie, anybody looking for a highlight for a special occasion or a short escape from the everyday. In Rüsterei you feel that you're not in Zurich anymore - you're in the cosmopolitan world of Rüsterei.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Amy H.MT, Vereinigte Staaten14362719. Sept. 2014
If it was for the food alone, I would give the restaurant 5 stars. Terrible service by servers who acted like we were inconveniencing then brought the rating down.
Yes, my bf and I are tourists. Yes, we don't speak your language.
No, it does not make us any less of paying customers than the table next to us.
The food was amazing! Every bite was worth the hefty price. I ordered the surf and turf, the bf had the guinea fowl. Every bite was delicious! Once again, it this review was on the food alone, it'd be 5 stars.
Our server was stuck up and came to our table 3 times total. First time to get our order, second time when I finally got her attention to get more bread, and the third time to bring us our check and she had the nerve to ask for a tip. Worst service we've had during our vacation throughout Italy and Switzerland!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Omar H.Kloten, Schweiz86126. Dez. 2012
