Must see! This was such a nice surprise on our trip to Brazil... I booked a tour to Petropolis and didn't realize I booked the tour that included a tour of the local brewery.... Sooo glad I did. Not only is it a great informational tour everyone is super nice!!! You get a complimentary tasting glass and I cleaned out the gift shop, sorry... this should be on everyone's list when visiting Rio!!

Definitely worth the trip! Book a reservation at the restaurant and get ahead of the huge crowds for buying tickets for the museum and tour. It's definitely a full museum on the history of beer dating back to the BC times with Sumerians. After an extensive explanation and plenty of hands on monitors to interact with.
The floors are divided with each process of making beer and then a movie following the distillery and finally the tasting room. They give a generous pour of some of the current brews.
Make sure you stop by the gift shop and pick up some goodies. We tried the Wäs beer they showcased in the restaurant and they have a great dark stout called petroleum. Accurate to its name, it's a slow pour of viscous dark deliciousness.
I would definitely take friends to do the tour or the restaurant or both again. Well done.

The restaurant was beautiful and has a great view of the mountains. My meal was ok and I wouldn't recommend it. I had something that looked like beef stew with a soft boiled egg. We also had the burger... Very dry and wasn't good either.

The beer is amazing (5 stars), however I'm only reviewing the food.

Beautiful Brewery with a great view

This review is only for the brewery restaurant located on the second floor. It was the slowest restaurant I have been to in all Brazil. That's a pretty hard feat considering I have been to the notoriously slow regions of Bahia.

They made us wait outside in the rain to get into the restaurant. When we went up we saw there was a huge bar and waiting area completely empty. How polite of them!

When we sat down we ordered our food and drinks pretty quickly. Over an hour later we had been served one beer each and received not one morsel of food. We complained twice, and on the verge of getting up to leave the food finally arrived. The annoying thing was that the food wasn't even hot, and the ratio of wait staff to patrons was pretty high. People were just standing around doing nothing while we starved and our food got cold. The table next to us also complained. It seemed that everyone was waiting a really long time for their food, and while bored and hungry I found other similar reviews on another site that I won't name here out of love for Yelp.

The food was mediocre though plentiful. Even the sauces of hunger weren't giving them an edge with the sloppy purée under my trout. My husband had the steak frites which would have fed two lumberjacks - so long as they really really like pepper sauce on their beef.

The location is great. Go to the brewery, go to the beer garden, but skip this restaurant if you are actually hungry!

The bar that no one gets to sit at.

The Bohemia museum was similar to the Heineken museum in Amsterdam. The layout of the tour was good and staff was very informative. Of course my favorite part of the tour was when they let you try to different beers and it was worth the admission. Definitely have to visit this place while in Petropolis!

If you're like me, you're thinking a restaurant at a brewery is going to be good (they usually are) and might want to eat here. Don't. It isn't.

From the outside it seems really cool, there is music and/or a live band. People seem happy and enjoying themselves. On the inside you will find that the waiters ignore you, the tables are dirty, the food and drinks take 10 minutes longer than they should to come out (if they do at all - despite ordering at the same time one burger was forgotten and when it arrived it was raw).

The food is almost the saving grace of this place. My burger was good, but like I mentioned before, my friend's was raw and literally 30 min late. We got the bacon cheese fries as an appetizer and it was just fries with a bit of cheese and bacon cubes on top. About half of the stuff on the menu and advertised on the table is out. They had a table-top ad for fondue. Not available. Caldo. Out. Sandwiches. Gone.

If you're looking for a beer, maybe come here. But they also have a cover charge so it's not even worth it. I don't like giving one-star reviews, but this place earned it.

Edit: This review is for the restaurant on the ground floor just outside of the brewery.

international quality brewery museum and one of the best beer of the country. Check times before going, they have a bar and a restaurant that have different times during the week or season. A must see attraction.

Really impressed with this place. Instead of a simple tour through the labs, Bohemia gives you a multi-story educational history of beer throughout the world. The tour portion mixes the right amount of interactive activities, films/clips, and information to keep you entertained without overwhelming you.

As far as the restaurant goes, the food was average, but the beer selection really sets it apart. I am not a huge fan of the standard Bohemia that you find in restaurants in Rio, but the options here were fantastic. There were several beers that had run out, but the ones they did have were great.

If you're in Rio de Janeiro, it is worth making a trip to Petrópolis to check out this great brewery. Don't forget to grab some gifts!

I have been to breweries all over the world, and this could rival the best.

Recentley renovated, this place is very well done. The tour takes about 2 hours and you get 2 beers with it. Very informative, English is spoken by many of the tour guides.

After the tour, go grab another drink in their beer garden!

You can get an English speaking tour guide. Th tour was informative and enjoyable. The restaurant had great beer. The food was good, but a little overpriced. Beer and appetizers on the patio are pleasant. Being a non-Portuguese speaker, I didn't feel out of place.
