Let's get this review off to a good start by saying this place really annoyed me. I had some stuff to store and they were really local to my flat so I went to their website for a quote.

Like any 'good' sales site, they want to ring you to give you the quote instead of an internet generated one. Riiiight, fine. So a lovely man called me and went through my options, asking me for the dimensions of the stuff I had to store. Bless his efforts, cos I am rubbish with practical things like sizes and measurements. Plus I'm Irish, so my descriptions are all 'as the crow flies' 'left along' and 'sure, you know yourself'. Kidding... sort of.

He gave me a good quote and described the offers they had. So I picked them, proximity, service etc, etc.

However, when we called to book, all of a sudden like a dozen added extras are produced. A. You have to pay for a month straight off the bat. B. You have to sign up for a direct debit, if you decide to stay longer. C. Insurance, wtf?!! D. You have to buy your own lock. E. They take a £200 deposit. For what exactly? If you damage the metal container?!!!!

We handed over about £300, with the belief that we'd get some of it back. I am so pissed that they spring these bullshit extras when I got quoted £34.50 on the phone for a week, no mention of any of this crap.

Safestore, this is not the way to do business.

Cheats. Lured us in with a cheap quote for a 16ft2 room and had previously said there was lots of availability, we said we'd arrived two hours later and when we did were told they had just gone. Called to speak to Billy who had lured us in and he hung up on me.

I agree with you they are really dishonest people, there is this big girl that works at the store, she is absolutely rude and dishonest about their pricing. As I only want the storage for 2 weeks, she said I will have to pay for 4 weeks first then they will refund me the 2 weeks that I did not use at the end when I move my stuff out. But at the end the amount I got back is much less than what she quoted me at the beginning. Do not store with them, there are so many hidden charges thats not on the quote!!
