This store is under same umbrella as Tom Thumb/Albertsons in Texas, so we got rewards points every time we shopped here. I downloaded the Safeway app & got their specials during our stay here. It's a big plus that it's only 3-minute walking distance from our hotel. They have great selections of typical groceries, wine, even fresh-made sandwiches. This is a busy store, but the staff was helpful & efficient. We were also be able to get cetirizine here, since we forgot to bring ours. You can ENTER THE BUILDING FROM THE GARAGE, which was nice during a rainy day and the SHORTEST WAY FROM RIU HOTEL. There's a subway & a quick Chinese fast food in the same building.

I'm not sure why this Safeway has a bad rap, but during our visit it seemed like a perfectly good location - very easy to drop by if you're staying in Fisherman's Wharf.
We picked up some snacks and drinks, and while their selection isn't amazing, I'm guessing their focus is more on tourists, since there's a bigger Safeway a 20 or so minute walk away.
The service was friendly and once we found the entrance (it's a bit hidden under a parking garage) we were in and out fairly quickly.

I had a bad experience yesterday with this Bay Street Safeway.
I have been going to this Safeway for about the last 30 years because I live in the neighborhood.
I asked a guy with a heavy spanish accent ( I had never seen him before) to help me at the customer help counter . He had a bad vibe from the beginning. Maybe he had a bad day ???
He didn't like how i handed it items to him . He raised his voice to me. He said, " I AM MANAGER THERE I AM NOT GOING TO HELP ,I DON'T LIKE HOW YOU HANDLED STUFF TO ME . I was stunned!!! Also, he tries to argue with me!!
I don't like waist time, argue with someone who has a big self ego, and who has no sense, so I told him "Ok no problem," I go on to what I need to do.
If he is managing the place, he needs to handle situations better!!!. It doesn't matter if the customer get in to your nerve!! or he had a bad day.. making customers feel ok and helpful is the manager's job .
I experienced bad customer service plenty of times in the past with Bay Street Safeway , but this is the worst experience I ever had with them !!!!

This review is for the BAKERY. They took my money and did not provide me with my order.
I went into this store on 1/20/2023, 9:10am PST to place a cupcake order for my child's birthday party. The lady that was taking my order wrote it down on a yellow order form and I paid for the cupcakes. I told her that my partner was going to come pick it up on 1/24/2023 at 5:30pm PST. She confirmed that it was fine and gave me the receipt along with the yellow confirmation order form.
When my partner went to go pick up our order, the manager name BERTA said they do not have our order on file. The manager kept on saying the order is from another store but it clearly states on the receipt the address of their store "350 Bay Street". They did not do anything to resolve the conflict. The manager was no help at all. So now, we do not have any cupcakes for my child's birthday and they took our money. I tried to contact them by calling their number from their "contact us" page but when they transferred me to the payments team, they hung up on me! All they said was "Hi, Payments" and I said "Hi" and they hung up! WTF?
So now, THEY HAVE MY MONEY & I HAVE NO CUPCAKES.
I have receipts if someone from Safeway wants to reach out. I wasted time calling their corporate number, without getting to anyone that is helpful.

Parking is extremely expensive in San Francisco.
This is the best place to go grocery shopping.
This is also the best place to find Safe, Secure, Parking within walking distance of Fisherman's Wharf.

This location was organized in a confusing manner; I wish the layout was a little less random. They were also out of stock of everything I went there to get:/ for example, the ice cream section was almost completely bare.

For shopping in general it's fine but you will get no help anywhere not in floral not in bakery they have very very few employees one check out and they want you to go to the self checkout but I don't work without being paid so I wait in line.

Clean and very busy over priced but its where the local shop. So as a out of town running in to pick up something expect to pay higher prices because you on in San Fran.

This is a delivery review. I ordered eight Items. Three were missing. Four were replaced without my approval, Had they contacted me I would not accepted the replacements. It appears they could not be bothered to look for items in my order.
