I went in a group of 4 people and we paid less than £10 each for all this food (plus two orders of jasmine rice)! Some of the best Thai food I've ever had, I mean have you ever seen such beauty? My mouth is watering at the mere sight of this epic spread of Thai food. Feast your eyes on pad Thai, pad see ew, yellow curry, and egg fried rice. The decadence of the flavors from each of these distinct plates blended together in the most exquisite, delightful way possible that words simply cannot describe. The yellow curry was a bit salty and was a small portion, but still good athe noodles are truly some of the best I've ever had, and I am somewhat of a Thai food connoisseur. As soon as a single morsel of this food touched my tongue I felt rejuvenated and refreshed and like all was right in the world. The soft noodles drowning in flavorful sauces with hints of peanut and chili melting on your tongue hits the spot like no other. Thai food is truly the cure to any bad mood or, dare I say hangover, and will leave you feeling so satisfied, ecstatic, and content that you can't believe you don't eat Thai food for every meal. If you're ever in southern England, going to Sawadee should be at the absolute top of your to do list!

Clockwise: egg fried rice, pad Thai with chicken, yellow curry with chicken, and pad see ew noodles

Sawadee is a pretty swish little Thai restaurant, slightly out of town at the top of St James Street so it can be pretty dead particularly on winter week nights. Having been to Thailand the food is defiantly authentic, but more on the fried batter side rather than the noodles & soups side. You can get a Singa beer to take you right back to the islands!

If your looking for a quite but delicious Thai meal than Sawadee is the place, I wouldn't advise any first date couples this one though.

The venue consists largely of small dishes, that you would need 2 or 3 of, for between £4 and £6. The restaurant often has special offers and set menus so its always worth an ask.

The restaurant is intimate and well-decorated. Great place to come with a small group of friends or significant other for a nice, quiet dinner and chit-chat.

But the more important part is of course the food. My significant other and I ordered a pot of tom yum soup to share, green curry and some spicy fish. All were well-spiced and well-flavored and while not completely authentic, it was enough to make me feel nostalgic.

The staff are friendly, welcoming and helpful. I would definitely recommend Sawadee for those looking for a delicious, sit-down meal with friends/boyfriends/girlfriends. I will be coming back again real soon to try other dishes they have to offer.

I've only eaten here the once and we had a fantastic meal. We were absolutely starving so maybe things taste a bit better anyway but the satay and the spring rolls were to die for on the starters side. For the main course, I opted for a green curry with a nice big helping of pad thai and was in absolute food heaven.

The staff are so friendly and cheery which is so nice to see, even when they are quite busy. Its not at all pricey - we had loads to eat and plenty of wine and were shocked at how small the bill was!

I used to be a big fan as the food is really good there but since then I have discovered few places that are better for my taste. But still worth a visit

Maybe I'm biased as when I went here my dad was paying, but THIS PLACE IS AMAZING! The service was really friendly, the decor really pretty, but most importantly the food was delicious. We went for two of the set menus and shared the dishes around between the four of us, so we got to try a great variety - tom yum prawn soup, chicken green curry, duck with ginger and onion and steamed jasmine rice to name a few. The prices aren't cheap - you'll pay £13.45 - £21.45 for the set menus - but definitely worth treating yourself on the next special occasion.

Looking for an authentic taste of Thailand? Here's your place!

Quite often you can be left a little cheated from Thai restaruants as you feel like you have just had a near imitation of the real thing but not here.

The food is fresh, tasty and served very quickly, the service is excellent and you always feel well taken care of!

I have never met a person with a bad word to say about it, highly recommended.

Decided to eat here last night. Had the spicy duck and some tempura. The food was pretty decent, the owner was there so we chatted a bit, and everyone was friendly. Not the best Thai I've eaten (like it hotter), certainly good enough for another visit however I'll do something other than the duck next.

If you want a meal that is going to offer you beautiful food, good value and presented nicely then you must come here. I have three favorite Thai restaurants in the UK. They are Patara and Pin Petch in London and in Brighton it's this joint.

Whenever I come to Brighton for a weekend I always come here for a meal, because of the atmosphere and for the food.

You will never have a bad dinner here, and you are also surrounded by lots of quirky little bars and pubs to go onto afterwards, can't get better than that really!

I was living on the road right next to Sawadee when it was refurbished a couple of years ago. I'd always had a look inside and vaguely fancied it when all of a sudden it shut down and magically turned from dull red to bright orange overnight (well, over a few days). The inside was also spruced up, becoming all cream walls and golden gilt and immediately looking far more pleasant.

I went here for a meal with my mum - whenever she makes the journey to Brighton I like to take her somewhere nice and local. After a long afternoon at the beach in the sunshine we didn't fancy venturing very far, so we toddled off up the road to Sawadee. A word of advice - it does get incredibly busy in here, so you'll need to book. We were sent away for an hour or so to come back when a table would be ready. In fact, that's the only downside of this place it's too busy for its size with the tables rather squished together so that if you're sat on a table for two (like we were), you're practically on top of the people next to you.

Despite that, our table (right in the window a prime people-watching location) was well worth the wait. The staff are all immaculately dressed, extremely friendly and very welcoming. We went for the six dish set menu option (menu 'b') which was just under £30 for the two of us and included prawn and vegetable tempura, a gorgeous spicy chicken soup, thai green chicken curry, a pork dish, jasmine rice and stir-fried mixed vegetables. The tempura was crisp and cooked perfectly and all the other dishes were incredibly tasty personally I thought it was exceptional value for money and would definitely head back for more.
