I sure hope people find out that this establishment is under new management because I have read the older reviews and they can't be the same restaurant I ate at this week.
I understand that 2, not 1 but two, new Chef's in Redding have taken charge and the changes are unbelievable. Staff is wonderful and food even better. I plan on visiting every week and trying a different menu item every visit. I have been so frustrated over the last few years not being able to find decent authentic Mexican food but now Redding has THE PLACE for true Mexican Cuisine.

Used to frequent old location on Eureka Way with old owners and was a fan back then.
Chef Wes Matthews took over and LOVED Senor Rosa's even more as I lived nearby.
NOW the new location on Placer I'd not been to until yesterday...
INCREDIBLE FLAVOR! I took my mother and she loved hers as well!

We both did Salads with her doing the TOSTADA w/ STEAK and myself the DIOSA w/ PORK. Just can't explain besides best flavor in years from a salad, and I travel a lot. The dressing and marinated meat on mine was A+. My mother, who can be finicky, was equally please. She has many years experience in restaurants so she can be harsh. OH! The salads WERE ONLY $10 EACH.

Not big servings of food that it gets wasted. Just enough to fill you up and if not their home made Chips and Salsa Bar will finish you off.

      Good beer selection as well.

I didn't think Senor Rosa's could be any better than they were at their old location BUT THEY ARE. Chef Mathews does not disappoint here or over at his other place Market Street Steakhouse.

      A+

A surprising little gem in downtown Redding. I know they had a previous location but I had not tried them until they moved to Placer. OH. MY. WOW. Best little tacos in town. They have some deliciously seasoned shredded chicken, and I when I realized that they melt a layer of cheese between the two soft corn tortillas to keep them together, my jaw may have hit the floor. How brilliant is that? It's a freakin' quesadilla taco! Drool...

Outstanding salsa bar. I love the way it's decorated and they are always playing great music in here. (I have never heard top 40 in here and it's so refreshing!) I like your style, Senor Rosas...

When we are in the mood for fresh, delicious Mexican food that's not going to give us explosive diahrea, we come here.

      See you soon.

We received two gift cards here for Christmas and decided to give it a shot. The first visit we experienced extremely poor service. The wait for food was really long and we had to ask for chips 3 times. The girl kept telling us the chips were "cooking" but when we finally saw another person emerge from the back and asked again, he dished us up chips right there on the spot :/ My burrito was cold in the center when it finally arrived, but other than that the flavor was good. Good enough that we still looked foreword to trying the restaurant a second time, banking on it just being an off night as far as the service went.
Unfortunately our second visit was much worse. We had a different waitress but she acted like serving us was the worst night of her life. We were there half an hour before closing (they close at 6pm??? How does a restaurant close at 6pm?!) and she gave us a lecture on how they were closing soon so we needed to eat fast. Then you'll never believe what happened... we NEVER got our chips!! This waitress also says "they're cooking" and we never got them... Again. Halfway through our meal another diner got up and asked one of the workers from the back for chips and once again, they were right there in the bin and he was dished up chips immediately. At that point we were mostly done eating and didn't want the chips anymore anyway. The whole time the waitress is moping around like working there is the biggest misery imaginable. Granted she is probably overworked considering she is trying to check out customers, deliver food, MAKE the food (yeah don't ask me why they have a kitchen!), take orders, cash people out etc. The result is everyone has really slow and poor service (and there were only 5 people in the whole place!).
This time I had the same burrito as last time but with the shredded pork instead of beef and the pork had SO much seasoning on it all I could taste was pork seasoning. I couldn't tell if I had beans, meat, potato, or sour cream in my mouth because the taste of the pork was SO overpowering. Unfortunately it wasn't a good flavor either. Like an overpowering failed attempt at cuban flair in a mexican burrito.
Salsa bar is pretty boring IMO as well. Flavors are really weird. Perhaps part of the problem is that half cuban half mexican thing they're going for and the flavors just don't go together very well.
My prediction is that this place isn't going to be in business very long. Service that bad just doesn't fly and why would you put up with the lackluster flavors when Los Gordos has great food, cheaper prices, and the service is always phenomenal.

I have been a Senor Rosas fan since they originally opened. Charlie did a great job building this name. I stopped today and noticed that the new location now has new owners. Things have changed. Used to be freshly grilled steak, now out of the steamer and overcooked. The chili that used to be fresh now has no gumption. The ratio of beans and rice to meat was way off base and the avocado I added was nearly invisible. The rice and black beans have no flavor. What once was fresh California fabulous is now mundane. Will stick with Los Gordos......authentic.

The woman taking orders did not once smile or say thank you or direct me to the salsa bar. When I asked if the chocolates were Nanette's, she said "Yeah". Asked for chips. Asked for chocolate. Still no smile. She did however smile widely when the cook squirted her with the spray bottle. Otherwise, she was there under duress.

It is apparent that the new owners need to be in the restaurant once in a while.

Delicious!!! The pork verde tacos were moist and perfect with great flavor. The pineapple salsa is amazing. The cubano sandwich was also very good. I'm giving 5 stars for flavor, but the attitude at the service counter was a little lacking. Good prices, great food.

The food is great and had defiantly improved with the new management. I would love to see a little expansion on the menu, shrimp or carnitas maybe. My only complaint is the girl working the front counter and taking orders. Although I must say she has warmed up a little since I have been going there, it was a very rocky start. A smile and kind tone can go a long way:)

      This restaurant is a joke.
We ate there right after they moved to the new location and it was fine.
We received gift cards for Christmas and have tried 3 times to use them with no luck.
First try we went on New Years and it was closed. Okay, holiday, understandable.
Tried again the next Friday and got there around 7. They were out of 2 of the 3 meats they serve.
Tried last night and got there at 5:45. They now close at 6:00 M-W (really?!) and could only make tacos or burritos. My dad had met us there and said the only time he had tried to go they got there at 5:50 and had to go somewhere else.
I have heard from numerous other people with similar bad experiences. There is actually another review from yesterday and they got there even earlier than us and they wouldn't serve them.

Every time I come here, the service is really friendly and fast, and the food is delicious! Unfortunately I come here quite a bit since I work close by but they have not disappointed me yet! Their salsas are so good and apparently made in house (there are always at least 5 kinds) and their food is super filling and doesn't cost a fortune. Love this place!
