The family at AtlasAdventured recommends visiting here!
Such a beautiful place! We were lucky enough to be here during their Halloween festivities. We showed up around 6:00 pm and the place was busy! We paid the entrance fee of 20 pounds, our 4 year old was free, and you can come back within the week for free. A little pricey but worth it if you're able to come back. The place was filled with lights and spooky decorations. During the Halloween event they had the Sanderson Sisters roaming around and our daughter absolutely loved that! The entire trail is lit up (which I believe is all year round) and the waterfall and gorge are beautiful to see. There is a cute cafe which was so busy we weren't able to find the time to eat there. Definitely next time! If you are looking for a peaceful place to stroll around, take in the breathtaking views, and have a cup of tea, this is the spot. A wonderful gem on the Isle of Wight!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Qype User (filimb…)London, Vereinigtes Königreich4430012114. Juni 2008
This is basically the reason why tourists came to the Isle of Wight. The victorians were mad keen on nature, and when the rail link was built to shanklin, or perhaps it was built especially to bring them here, anyway, they came in droves. The Chine is a gorge created by a stream, that creates a waterfall through the rocks. You walk through a haven for rare plants and wildlife, and if you are lucky see a few red squirrels on the way. And you come out on the beach! There are some chipmunks in cages if you miss red squirrels. Commandos trained here during WW2 and I think there was some kind of oil pipline for the d-day landings from here as well, though I might be wrong on that. As Keats said: 'the wondrous chine here is a very great lion; I wish I had as many guineas as there have been spyglasses in it.' And if it was good enough for Keats, why not?

I think Shanklin's one of the nicer villages on this side of the Island, especially when compared to neighbouring Sandown, which is fairly grotty.
Shanklin Chine in particular is a very nice place for a quiet wander, though it charges a fairly extortionate entrance fee. The chine itself is very interesting though, and there're some rather sweet birds and chipmunks and things, as well as a cafe to freshen up.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Samantha M.London, Vereinigtes Königreich666227125. The Shanklin Chine is a nice and peaceful place to walk through. There is so much hidden beauty within its paths and you can tell it's well looked after. We visited in October so many of the extras were closed for the year like the store and the cafe, therefore it only took us about 20 minutes to walk through including stopping for photos. It was nice to visit though. I'd love to see it at night when it's all lit up too! The waterfall is nice but it kind of looks manufactured... The path is a little steep and after the rain can be slippery so proceed with caution. The old stone bridge is lovely too.

This wonderfully idyllic village is one of my favourite places on the whole of the isle of wight. There is always a friendly vibe and lots of happy faces milling around and in the summer you'll find the shops and little cafes open right up to around 10pm. There are some great little cafes where you can enjoy very reasonably priced food from breakfasts to snacks to main meals. We always enjoy eating out in Shanklin and then wandering along the shops down to the little pub with the cute wishing well, it's a great village.

A good place to visit and it has some fantastic palces to eat. The pipelin was P.L.U.T.O which means Pipelinge Under The Ocean. It was a major oil/fuel supply line to the D-Day landings

I really like going to Shankline Chine everytime I visit the Island. When your in the Shanklin town, you can pop into the sweet shop to get a few treats and then head off into the Shanklin Chine where you pay to go in and walk along all these hidden paths which leads to some nice locations. It is fun and you can see from the distance the beach, streams and the waterfall. Great half a day out!

it is one of the nicest places on the isle of wight, it has a beautiful scenery and has the most peaceful tranquil forest with trees and rivers which bends into an amazing waterfall which leads to the sea it is definitely somewhere you really should visit.
